I keep hearing people raving about Firefox, and I decided to do a little research from the users themselves. What, in your opinion, are the advantages of Firefox over IE?

It is the form part of an HTML file. Since my peer has made this simple php file, I would like to make a Java program which I could POST a small file and see the output, yes, without a browser. Since I knew what's the output should look like (via a browser of course), I can know whether my program works…

This story was linked on Digg yesterday: 'Mind over matter' no longer science fiction It's yet another passive device allowing you to "type" with your brain. That alone is somewhat unremarkable, until you consider how many similar stories we've seen in 2006 alone. Here's a smattering of links to similar stories dealing with active/passive wetware applications to peruse through, if you so desire. All of these are from 2006: Big Brain Thinking: Stanford neuroscientist Bill Newsome wants to implant an electrode in his brain to better understand human consciousness Stealth sharks to patrol the high seas Jesse Sullivan powers robotic arms with his mind …

do you think that this will EVER happen? about a month ago on TechTV, they were explaining that quantum computers could crack ANY code within seconds/minutes. one example that they gave was the CIA's code...it would take months to years to crack it using todays computers, but only a matter of seconds with quantum computing... for the past months, ive been tempted to write an encryption algorithms that cannot be cracked, but by todays standards, it would be semi-impossible... what are your views on this?

I like to think this is more of a hardware issue, and more specifically a chemistry issue. Do the busses in the motherboard just wear out over time due to constant current? CPU eventually warps over time? I dont know much about computers, so sorry if my theories seem really fundamental. ~ee

It's all based on the photo electric effect Einstein wrote. The layout of the touchscreen uses photoelectronics. The process Microsoft uses to interface is say light reflected through the glass off the fingertip, reflected again off of a mirror based on trigonometric functions into particular photovoltaic particles through fiber-optics. The current let off through electron excitation travels through conductive wires into LEDs which let out frequencies at alternating intervals (01s) into photo-ionics of opposing charge into a series of em motors which can change the outputs of leds which ones are on or off. The process of installing an app that uses that i…

im trying to get back into programming java, but ive forgotten a lot. in the program im working on right now im making some buttons, but the Graphics are set to draw it one pixel thick, and it looks really bad. i dont want to widen it by drawing more rectangles, because thats sloppy, annoying, and inefficient. is there a command to make it use a bigger pen when drawing its lines? i seem to remember something along those lines, but that may have been for a different class.

Can someone explain to me how CPUs work? I know that the "information"(bits/bites) goes between memory (HDD or RAM) and the CPU which processes that information but how does it do that? How do we get solved equations and formulas instead of just numbers?

Hi, I want to update my security on my computer, but I really have no idea about what to do, and what I might need. So Im coming to the people in the know Im running Windows XP, with Norton Internet Security (up-to-date with automatic updates, etc etc). Is that good enough? Should I install anything else? Also, a friend of mine has a seriously screwed up computer. His Norton Anti-Virus software is disabled, and a spyware search with Ad-Aware came back with 280 hits. And when I tried to delete the software, the computer crashed. Trying to do a virus scan from an online source was practically impossible, since the pages were continually redirected and the …

My parents just received a few emails on their computer from someone saying they had received emails from my parents with a virus. My parents hadn't emailed them in a long time. Then the E-mail part of Norton Anti-virus quit working. I rebooted it in safe mode and the thing said that windows needed to be reactivated because of "significant hardware changes." Norton AV said it had been tampered and needed to be reinstalled. WHAT SHOULD I DO? I'm looking at Symantec's site to see what it says and what virus it is...

I've discovered the secret to safely remove Internet Explorer from your computer permanently. It's a little difficult, and impossible to do manually. However, I created a program that will uninstall it. Do you think people would buy it, and do you think Microsoft would be able to sue me if I did sell it?

Sony have just designed and produced a CD that is over 50% Paper! and will store more data than current CD plastic technology http://www.sony.net/SonyInfo/News/Press/200404/04-0415E/ it would seem that after centuries of different storage media methods, from paper, mag tape, vinyl, optical, microchips etc... that we end up back to Paper again )
