Is the TV show Law and Order: SVU really morally acceptable todays world?

Featured Replies

The TV show Law and Order: SVU deals with murder, rape, sexual assault and sexual abuse so on. But I hear there is lots children in TV show.

Even though at the time of TV show Law and Order: SVU pedophile was less common in the US. Now pedophile is more common in US of sexual assault on children so on.

So is the TV show Law and Order: SVU morally acceptable todays? I was going to get the TV show Law and Order: SVU. But if there is lots of children getting sexual assaulted and abuse even though it is fake and acting in todays would feels more morally not acceptable.

May be Law and Order vs Law and Order: SVU may be better option.

I hear there is murder, assault and kinaping on Law and Order but lack the children and sexual thing like Law and Order: SVU.

At the time of TV show Law and Order: SVU pedophile was less common in the US now it is on rise.

It is not as if the show makes paedophilia appear to be a good thing.

I think it is a well made program that tackles some very difficult issues (I have no idea how realistic it is). They often have difficult moral dilemmas, rather than a simplistic good-bad view.

Can I assume you're thinking about buying an expensive boxed set of a few seasons, and that's why you're asking about a moral judgement before you've seen it? I would suggest you find a way to watch a few episodes, and make this moral decision based on actual evidence and not just hearsay.

But pedophilia isn't always caught. Catholic priests here who cannot marry sexually assaulted loads of children and it wasn't noticed until recently. It would be hard to believe somebody well respected in the community would be capable of such attrocities. Also note south park had an episode about pedophilia in the catholic church.

If it wasn't acceptable to a large number of people, it would have been cancelled by now when the ratings dropped. Given that it's been on for 17 seasons, I would be willing to say that a good number of people don't have a problem with it.

If you find it morally irresponsible or unacceptable, don't watch it.
