Paralith
Hmm. I think women in general tend to prefer more personal interactions. There is also a general computer sufficiency bias that leans in the males' direction, for various sociocultural reasons, that probably discourages a decent amount of women from in-depth internet forays. These differences will diminish as time goes on, though, and internet interactions become an increasingly important part of people's lives in general. This forum in particular is also fairly representative of women in science in general. There are simply more men in the field. For now.
CharonY
Depends on level and department/field, I'd say.

I'd also say that because of the current male bias, there are greater barriers of entry for women on the Internet -- too many nerdy guys fawning over them. http://xkcd.com/322/
