  1. Then you need to ask better question's and think about what you, "really", want to say.
  2. I've never been able to smell how much I stink, and I don't wash...
  3. It's actually the same question, philosophically speaking, what is the purpose of me? The answer to which is, learn from your teachers and then decide for yourself.
  4. If you're sensitive to other people, perhaps you'll detect the benefits of a deity to them (God is made by people for people); God doesn't have to make a rock to achieve that.
  5. When you fear the gun, don't walk into a firing range...
  6. Of course not, you've entirely missed @iNow and @Phi for All point.
  7. It's a question I've pondered for a while now: I love my food, the taste, the texture and being completely satisfied, the enjotment is X 1000 when I'm very hungry; so I tend to starve myself throughout the day (not very healthy but YOLO), the problem is, I also enjoy a JD. Now here's the rub; I sometimes have one too many and then eat; the problem is, the next day I can't remember the meal, I know that while drunk my enjoyment of the meal is no different to when I'm sobber (don't ask me how, it's a long explanation and tangential to my point). I'm me in the moment, but I'm also me because of my memories, so given this spectrum there has to be a point where the meaning of me is meaningless.

  11. He's a bloviating buffoon, that we voted for; the tunnel is a mobius strip and the light we see is a train; maybe one day we'll stop kicking the can down the road and put it in the bin: that would be the end, until it's not... Politics is like two fleas arguing over who owns the dog their both biting.
  12. Perhaps you need to live in America to appreciate the subtleties...
  13. And contemporary language is essential for that; you can teach people with out of date books/language but the meaning gets lost to easily; so we end up teaching intelligent people that it's OK to kill/hate/belittle those that you consider have wasted potential.
  14. OK, break out the math and show us; I won't undestand if you do, I don't speak the language... MEH I can't be bothered, you don't even know the right word for hypothesis...
  15. Believe it or not, you're not the first person to rock up on this site knowing their opinion is more valuable than the knowledge of the ages; few of us stay long enough to actually learn something.
  16. True wisdom comes to each of us when we realize how little we understand about life, ourselves, and the world around us. - Socrates The thing about philosophy is, it's all been said before; if one say's something completely new, your probably wrong - me
  17. Opinion is the medium between knowledge and ignorance. Plato
  18. A wise man speaks because he has something to say. A fool speaks because he has to say something. - Plato
