  1. The person who drinks a bit too much and enjoys the odd spliff, but is content with the mortal consequences? Or... The person who centres their lives on healthy living and so forgoes some of its pleasures, but lives longer, but is content with that?
  2. No, indeed, I just meant it in a positive way.
  3. Ya never know, evolution may get involved because ATM we're heading for a shit storm with a reluctance to swerve. In almost every way possible.
  4. There will never be a perfect governmental system while jealousy, greed and corruption persist.
  5. With that reasoning, why bother?
  6. Both bands are well worth checking out, but the Pixies penned that song.
  7. Tell them the Earth needs to be evacuated, put them on a spaceship and wave goodbye, although that may go wrong.
  8. Every governmental system has to overcome corruption to be successful; democracy seems to provide the best chance. Unfortunately the corrupt have fear as ‘a weapon of mass destruction’; maybe that destructive power will create a populace that’s less fearful which evolves, hopefully, into a communistic democracy.
  9. When one gets to the bare bones of most religions the philosophies are essentially identical; treat others as you’d want to be treated, forgive those that don’t and accept everything you can’t change or avoid, it’s a path to contentment. There are many paths to a contented life; some can find inner peace alone, some need guidance and some need to be told it exists.
  10. I think it’s more a case of an ostensibly religious devotion to ones teacher (ironically).
  11. As Greg H suggested, follow the strings...
  12. Life doesn’t always produce a solution however much we want to provide the answer..
  13. Doesn't that make now, so much more important than then or if?
  14. Hard indeed, but no less terminal, either way.
  15. Each should be told, at the appropriate time, taking the impact on their emotional well-being, age and a need to know, into account; the only absolute in this scenario is when you’re told it’s terminal.
  16. And it’s all too easy to forget to forgive yourself.
  17. There are always consequences; so biff them one.
  18. Not at all, my point is, forgiveness is a path to being content, whereas, revenge is a path to the antipode.
  19. The past is today, yesterday, the present is today, today, and the future is today, tomorrow; everything changes in a day and yet nothing does. A gift is still a gift after one inspects the teeth. My point is: if one concentrates on now, the problems of yesterday or tomorrow fades, to vanishing, in importance and grows in acceptance and if you need a reason to concentrate, that’s fine, you just need to find one.
  20. If you really want to learn don’t assume your teachers are infallible.
  21. LOL, unless by stellar you mean losing way more money than he made or raping, so called, loved ones, he's not even a qualified (decent) human being.
  22. My point is enlightenment, for me, equals contentment and being content is much easier to maintain when the malcontent's, that want to rip you off, believe, or are paranoid enough, to think, they’ll always be caught ( a magic trick later and they’re convinced); at the right time and place religions have there uses.
