  1. Then we're on the same page, at least...
  2. How many Fukushimas does it take to end the world?
  3. What consciousness seeks it's own end? It can be argued, that currently the internet does...
  4. Isn't that the Gaia hypothesis? How do you measure the awareness of a bee? To understand a consciousness, you have to walk a mile in their shoe's; all I know for sure is, I'm conscious and I'm aware of that and my mate agrees... 😉
  5. "A tank has such good traction (grip) that it almost never gets stuck. In a tank grip alone is good enough." Indeed and that's the reason why I included it, it has no differential. The only reason to include a differential, however sophisticated, is to go around corners quicker and easier. "Grip alone is not always the answer." To what, automotive, question?
  6. And you wonder why I want to get off this merry-go-round?
  7. Do you mean eat? because, by eat we have a different perception... Indeed...
  8. Then why do we need to aquire it?
  9. Indeed, it depends on which side of the cutlery one reside's An aquired taste means we have to learn to live with it, not that we like it...
  10. Fair enough, but your diagram confuses my point, look at the contact point of the track rather than the number idler wheel's contained in it's presumed circumference, you asked for a scientific answer to your question, why is grip not the answer?
  11. That assumes it's awareness is the same as ours, but how could it be? I can't understand how a bat can see with it's ears, because I use mine to hear with; there is no relative position to inform my understanding.
  12. We're all, well most, talking past each other on this; I'm not saying that trans athletes can't have an advantage or that further regulation's/categories shouldn't be introduced to level the playing field, but there will always be outliers in any given sport. As in my example of Jonah Lomu (the England rugby captain called him a freak), but if IRC, NZ didn't win that world cup because other team's worked out a way to play them. My point has always been let them play first and then work out why/if it's unfair and adjust the field accordingly. Is the treatment of Castor Semenya fair? It's like asking Usain Bolt to wear a hobble...
  13. OK, with that well thought out arguement, I'm getting off this merry-go-round, I'll leave you with this. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_the_Sexes_(tennis)
  14. It's far more nuanced than that... Information... Does it matter where it comes from?
  15. Isn't it more a question of grip? A tank track is an expression of an enormous wheel or a large number of wheel's; if the torque is distributed evenly then every wheel has an even chance to move.
  16. They're just going to wriggle, maybe you can interpret/understand what they said...
  17. I wonder if the evidence will ever be convincing enough to declare sentience, for instance, what answer would be required to the question "what are you?"...
  18. And round and round we go. There will always be someone who has an advantage in any given sport, Jonah Lomu for instance. As long as they don't cheat to gain that advantage they should be allowed to play, it's only when they cheat that it becomes unfair; we can mitigate against that with regulation, but it's never going to be perfect. Just because you suspect one trans athlete's motive's, doesn't give you the right to condemn them all; sport is an artificial simulation of life and we all have a right to play, prior to a conviction.
  19. Indeed +1, that debate goes to the heart of my question... why is western philosophy, more productive?
  20. I think we tend to get confused about the term's of civilised and advancement; we have better gadgets therefore we're more advanced (better, cleverer). I think we should investigate that assumption because they're not equal. I chose the ancient Greeks because they built their civilisation on the back of slaves, we just call them the poor.
  21. Why are we more civilised than the ancient greeks?
  22. No, it's because stoned, is an excuse to your preferred state...
