  1. my post wasn't meant to be taken litterally. The issue, as I see it, is that a genuine attempt to understand is more important than the 'ism one is brought up on.
  2. Who taught you to be? Someone who didn't understand religion or someone who didn't understand science? This is what seems to be confusing you, what I'm sure you meant to say is "someone, who goes to church and is really bad at maths got it wrong; meanwhile someone who goes to church and is really good at maths can show you why". Beside my local church couldn't possibly house the world's population... 😉
  3. Indeed, this is the paradox Nietzche struggled with... I don't know what you're struggling with... If we kill God, then we're going to need an ubermensch... And any idiot can apply... 😉
  4. Indeed +1 Why is it important to appear more than one is?
  5. Bc it's expensive, even the middle classes have learnt to switch it off when it's not being used, or as my dad would say "FFS, this isn't Crystal Palace..." Or as Tesco's would say "every little helps". Even the most philanthropic Government has to complete a maze, before every step forward...
  6. Is this the output from your computer? But it's does remind me of something Stephen Fry said, I'll paraphrase 'Facebook set the parameters of their algorithm with 2 word's, maximise interest, imagine the world now, if those 2 word's were, maximise happiness'. But that too is subject to corruption... 😉
  7. I think @exchemist is essentially right, Thatcher started a cascade of self interest; so politically, to arrest that momentum, it has to start with self interest, i.e. eyesore verses very cheap energy...
  8. Only at a certain temperature... 😉
  9. The Enterprise is a culteral affectation, it represents a platform of extended power, from which to pr/teach the American accent... 😉 Why not use space elevators to transport everything we need to a space station and launch from there?
  10. Marxism is more of a predictor of revolution, if democracy can't limit or arrest the economic race to the bottom; still seems relevant today. Isn't that how a sermon works? It tells a story about why 'X' is bad, and it should be avoided. There is no manifesto, that works for everyone whatever ism one follows. We could start by trying to avoid the revolution that fixed the leopard's spot.
  11. It reminds me of that plot in "South Park" where Cartman was cloned and both became cops, they run into each other and cancel themselves out shouting "You will respect my autoritae" and the southpark returned to normality; or did I dream that episode...
  12. You shouldn't conflate a poll, in the public eye, with a fake, or anti-democratic process; it's ill informed... 😉 Much like your hero 'the Trump', or how history may remember him, 'the anti-democrat'.
  13. If you want it to be sci-fi then it has to have an internal logical consistency, that at least correlates, however loosely, to current scientific thinking; otherwise it's just another story, in which magic happens... I think the current Dr who writer, has forgotten the rules...
  14. It depends on the context the teacher provides, clearly... If a child grows up in a war zone, it has to be taught 'how to survive a war zone'... 😉
  15. Jane Austen sums us all up quite succinctly in "Pride and Prejudice"
  16. Look at how much funding fusion gets, can you blame them...
  17. Indeed, so saying something like 'it's absolutely not meant for children.' is clearly false... History is humanities Achilles heal, we never learn from it; I contend that bibles are attempts to fix the wisdom, they know will be lost, for as long as possible. I also contend that best way to transpher wisdom between generations, is orally.
  18. You haven't presented any physics and you clearly don't speak the language, so even 'if' you're right, you have no capacity to make yourself properly understood; you may as well be pissing into the wind.
  19. "The Bible was not put together till the 4th CE and those OT stories were absolutely not meant for children!" Just to be clear, I'm an atheist and my argument is, how can you know?
  20. Indeed, but it's still not much of an argument... 🙄
  21. Just after and painlessly, no wait... 🤑
  22. Why are you so keen to be right?
  23. OK, Donald Trump is a rich man's version of Forest Gump In modern time's, we use a purple dinosaur... 😉
