This is what seems to be confusing you, what I'm sure you meant to say is "someone, who goes to church and is really bad at maths got it wrong; meanwhile someone who goes to church and is really good at maths can show you why". Marxism is more of a predictor of revolution, if democracy can't limit or arrest the economic race to the bottom; still seems relevant today. Isn't that how a sermon works? It tells a story about why 'X' is bad, and it should be avoided. There is no manifesto, that works for everyone whatever ism one follows. We could start by trying to avoid the revolution that fixed the leopard's spot.
