  1. The problem with that is, I only speak your language at a remedial level, therefore my imagination is impossible to describe. I didn't know I was, but that was what I had in mind.
  2. That seems like a technicality.
  3. I have no problem in believing that. But in the twin analog, when twin A reaches the age of twin B, they would have the same number of heart beats, doesn't that mean the tick frequency is the same, but that the ticks of twin B were stretched when compaired to twin A? Edit, or possibly the other way round...
  4. My very badly explained point is, yes they are, the tick frequency remains they same wherever we find ourselves in space and whatever speed we're going there. It's like the latice/weave of the fabric of space. In some respects the only meaningful definition of time is a wristwatch, preferably a digital... “Why are people born? Why do they die? Why do they want to spend so much of the intervening time wearing digital watches?” ― Douglas Adams
  5. Forgive my stupidity, but isn't time the 'tick' that we all experience at the same <insert word>???
  6. The difference between the two is contentment, for instance, someone who knows that death is imminent/inevitable wants to limit the physical pain/sufering in one, in order too limit the pain and suffering in other's; not so much in the group that's just pissed off with today. Ironically, it's Today that seems to be the reasoning...
  7. Just checking, religion seems to be the universal excuse for not listening to reason...
  8. Hmmm, is the word religion really the problem here?
  9. It didn't seem so, we all keep secrets (for whatever reason) and society is just an expanded version of us, therefore gossip is orders of magnitude greater than it is at street level.
  10. See how easy it is too shoot down, what is essentially a very good idea; in answer to the OP, I think it's a shame that paganism isn't rising fast enough, our society steamrollers every idea that could potentially slow growth; I wonder why the Australian mice plague spings to mind?
  11. When did I say you should? That very much depends on what side of the cutlery your looking... My point is, anyone who thinks they have no choice, for whatever reason, is an extremist in a conflict; look at South Africa, it's anagolous, it took a certain amount of forgiveness to avoid a bloodbath.
  12. The thing about extremists is, they don't always tell the truth; which, it turns out, is more common than you think...
  13. That reminds me, there's a convincing argument that sisyphus was actually in heaven... 😉
  14. Of course, how else can we stop everything from happening at once...
  15. Depends on the size/efficiency of the wheel, we used to grind corn with that technology; and when we realised a drop/waterfall would significantly increase the output, we built our world around it.
  16. My point was more about the ability to run away, not the bravery of those with no choice; we'd all chose to run away from cancer if we could, no one is shouting coward, at them. The thing we've got remember in all of this is, both sides are people and most people don't want to kill people unless they're persuaded that they have no option. Both sides in this case think (for whatever reason) they have been backed into a corner. Any one who thinks that force is a way to make friends and influence people, is one step away from that corner.
  17. I think so, pagan seems to be a catch-all term for old-fashioned, with the associated assumption that that equals 'not as clever as us'. Bolded mine, Case in point; the modern view is, I'm very clever if I can avoid, any form of social, tax... 🧐
  18. Of course you do, bc you're blinded by your prejudice; a good scientist would turn the other cheek...
  19. +1` I share your dreams and on the back of that, I'd add compulsory voting for everyone between the ages of 5 and 80, privatisation of all essential utilities and a ceiling of wealth set at enough to live in reasonable luxury for life above which tax is set at 90% leaving them 10% to invest in whatever pet project that takes their whimsy. Edit, it would also force big business to invest in the infrastructure that suits it's needs and by extension a lot of the rest of society, and the wages of it's worker's, bc the rest is 90% taxable. Unlikely as that may be @CharonY, I think it will become essential for our survival, way before overpopulation becomes a real risk to our survivability on this planet; unfortunately I think you're right and that we'll just keep shooting ourselves in the foot...
  20. OK, See this one... It depends on the value of coloured swan shit...
  21. Congratulations, you've learned something; now for the next level where knowledge isn't fact...
  22. Only if you don't understand the difference between a tythe and a tax...
  23. TBH I don't really care, we're all just playing a parlour game; I win, if I can change your mind...
