  1. What conservatives want is, wealth to be enough to afford more than them...
  2. I think he's close to understanding; why we rinse, more than once... 🧐
  3. dimreepr replied to kenny1999's topic in Chemistry
But imagine the niche, a plastic eating bacteria would find itself in...
  4. Well, no-one else here is going too; we can but hope that he understands the futility, before he flatters himself/herself to death... 😉
  5. Genuine question, what drives your need to be right/win? Because this post looks like, you've been caught cheating at solitaire and your outraged...
  6. What are you actually asking here? Are alien's what we think of as God's? Is an advanced civilisation (aliens) better than ours? Or, why can't scientist's build an imaginary "warp drive"? What you should be asking, given the general direction of the OP, is; what lesson's can we learn, philosophically, from our actual history, rather than Star Trek...
  7. Indeed, but it does mean you are capable of learning a human language, listening helps.
  8. None of us are that's lesson 101, congrats you're ready for lesson 102...
  9. That's akin to saying "I don't speak your language but I'm sure that wogawomphtamof is a real word".
  10. If we couldn't measure time, how did we confirm Einstein's musing's? To be a heretic, you must first understand the religion.
  11. You're missing the point of this site; it's OK to discuss things that are wrong, and enjoy doing so, but there's wrong (worth discussing) and very wrong (nope); for instance, it's wrong to say a tomato is a vegetable, it's very wrong to say it's a banana... 🤔
  12. (bolded mine) The question was inspired by Assimov and explored in his foundation series, if we accept the premis that we tend to get more conservative as we age, then there would be a great deal of difference between a populace that die before that trend takes hold and a populace that has 950 year's for that trend to get a stranglehold. Does that mean, I can't meet my friend at 2 o'clock today?
  13. That's what makes a pseudo-democracy, a true democracy resets every year...
  14. What makes you think they didn't build their new aircraft carrier with a slanty eye on the American skill set? Reminds me of Agincourt.
  15. Unfortunately Russia isn't lead by a 'rational' sociopath.
  16. China wants to aquire Taiwan, but why would they go to war when they're still negotiating the price?
  17. They're taught how to "play nice", when they play with their mother. Perhaps; but some people, who have no family and weren't loved, find meaning anyway; the most satisfying food is tasted when you're hungry, even if it's a half eaten burger you found in a bus shelter, that smelt of piss and vomit (especially if you're pallet is highly refined). It's a ying yang thing, if you've never loved, you'll never know hate. I'm just trying to teach you, my understanding.
  18. This raises an interesting philosophical question; we trust more and more knowledge, with fewer and fewer people to advance 'our' understanding of... If we can't understand the product of what we've built, how can we trust it?
  19. You can never visualise a foreign language until you speak it, fluently; but you can learn... 😉
  20. I think we're well past feeding time...
  21. You don't know, is kinda the point...
  22. You assume to much; for instance, why would a binary random answer be greater than 50%?
  23. I don't; it might be a tautology but sometimes that's the only answer there is.
  24. Name one, and please include, how you know. A demonstration is very different to an explanation (a demonstration is, most often, far easier) due to language unspoken; if you tell me what you think piety mean's, it will give me a better chance to explain what I mean. Please read the thread again, but this time read it, without your filters/bias/ego, as if you want to learn (and yes you need to want too). Philosophy isn't about being right, it's about knowing your own foibles and applying that understanding to other's, you can't teach until you've understood the lesson...
  25. Unfortunately, he lacks a map...
