  1. I think he went to Proxima Centauri. When he comes back in a year's time he might have proof.
  2. I giggled through the whole ting. This is Science Forums, not Science-Fiction Forums.
  3. Not at all, John. It's a bunch of tabloid headlines that lead one to believe that Kate is much more appreciated than Meghan is. Where is the display of racism ???? I can think of many reasons why people may like Kate over Meghan without immediately jumping on the racism bandwagon. Kate gets along with her family. Kate takes her royal duties seriously. Kate smiles/laughs more readily. Kate seems to care more for people/kids she meets. Kate has nicer legs. Need I go on ?
  4. Using that logic... Since missiles don't have 100% kill ratio, it wasn't just the missile that brought the plane down.
  5. Of course; we can't measure zero. We can only set an upper limit on the mass, A lot of Physics would no longer be valid if photons had mass and didn't move at exactly c . You do know that 'c' is an integral part of Maxwell's equations which govern electromagnetism, and the propagation speed of light comes out of those equations ? If photons had mass, that means they could be accelerated, and STOPPED. Call me when you you re-write Maxwell's equations to incorporate a variable speed of propagation.
  6. I, personally, would love to see you in the debate, INow. You might actually answer some questions, instead of 'dancing' around them ( like most politicians ).
  7. Yes there is. Division by zero is undefined. Which means the equations are asymptotically valid, but fail, or are not applicable, at v=c .
  8. Ah OK. There are others still in the running, they just didn't qualify for the debate ?
  9. Just like every other time this topic has come up, some of us are confusing the measuring mechanism with time. The only measuring mechanism we have are clocks, which are based on cyclical change between two states, so we tend to assume 'time' is based on that change. We have NO other way of gauging time; that doesn't make time a result of that change. And as has been pointed out many times, in previous discussions, this is equivalent to confusing a ruler with distance.
  10. Is A Yang the only visible minority left in the running ? Seems kind of strange for the Democrat party that has broad support from minorities. If it wasn't for the couple of women still in the running, it would be the other party of the 'rich, old, white' men. ( not gonna lie. A Yang mentioned this very same thing )
  11. I don't think any university offers a Bachelor degree in 'nanoscience'. You may be able to specialize in one of the nanosciences after completing a BSc in Physics/Chemistry/Biology or Mech/Chem/Elect Engineering. Nanoscience is just a blanket term for regular science, but ,on an extremely smaller scale.
  12. Do you fly, Rangerx ? I'm more into the military hardware than the commercial side. But you seem quite knowledgeable regarding commercial instrument flying.
  13. By that, I meant duties and obligations of the Monarchy. We Canadians like the Monarchy; you guys fought a war against it. ( and 3 decades later, against us )
  14. Excellent breakdown. Now lets sit back and see what actually happens.
  15. Civil airliners 'squawk' only on mode 3. Military planes 'squawk' on IFF mode 2. If the Iranian missile radar interrogates only on mode 2, and receives no reply; what is the operator to do ? Further, he tries to contact his superior, but unreliable Iranian comm. systems make it impossible; what is the operator to do ? He only has 5 -8 seconds to make up his mind; what is he to do ? IIRC the USS Vincennes interrogated Iran Air Fl655 seven times on mode 2 because they thought it was an Iranian F-14, after receiving a couple of spurious signals on mode 2. I don't recall if they interrogated at all on mode 3. And it led to the same bad decision and large loss of innocent lives. One of the root causes, John, would be improving identification of military versus civilian aircraft.
  16. The Electroweak force changed and lost range of some of its interactions ( by some of its quantum field particles gaining mass due to the Higgs mechanism ) shortly after the Big Bang, due to a symmetry break. I don't see that happening again anytime soon. But I have been wrong before. ( although no-one will be around to say "I told you so" if it does happen )
  17. That needed to be mentioned, Markus. +1
  18. Studiot has already mentioned this... What is the 'time' between changes ?
  19. I really don't see where racism comes in. The Queen feels the Monarchy has certain duties and responsibilities that rise above personal interests. She feels the Royal Family should share this view, as it has served the Queen well for six and a half decades. M Markle knew what she was getting into; she has no business complaining after the fact. My biggest concern is the fact they want to move to BC, Canada, ( Meghan and Archie are already here ) and we will be on the hook for $ 1 mill per year to provide security for people who are no longer 'royal'. edit Rangerx, would you mind looking after them ?
  20. So JC likes A Yang. I still like J Biden, although E Warren has grown on me like she has on a lot of people. What about you, INow ? ( and everyone else also ? )
  21. Expatriates are usually very critical or their country of origin, if they were forced to leave because of persecution. One only needs to look at how critical Cuban expats are/were of the Castro regime. It would be great if the 'unrest' happening currently in Iran leads to the overthrow of the Mullah regime. Unfortunately I foresee much bloodshed before, and IF, that happens.
  22. Photolithography for modern ICs is currently starting production at 7 nm. ( the 1st 16 bit processor had 3um ( 3000 nm ) design rules/features ) And I'm sure they are working on ramping up yields at 5 nanometers. That provides for billions of transistors on a single die. I believe the 1st 16 bit processor, the Intel 8086, had about 29,000 transistors, while the 8 core Intel I9-9900k has over 3 billion. What other nanotech did you want to discuss ?
