  1. You can believe what you want, it has nothing to do with continued reliability of producing effective results as Matt Dillahunty once stated.
  2. Let me break it down for you; You cannot „believe” that airplanes fly due to science, it is continuously proven that airplanes in fact do fly (and fall down) because science. It is irrelevant weather or not it makes sense to you that airplanes fly. You can learn the physics of why they do in fact fly but physics do not care about you having that knowledge or not - airplanes will continue to fly (and fall down) despite your opinion. Your faith on the other hand is completely subjective, there is zero evidence for any religion to be correct - exactly the opposite as with the airplane example above. You can believe what you want but you need to keep rationality out of it, that is the realm of things that continuously produce results. Edit: And don’t worry, nobody is 100% rational, we all make mistakes. The question is weather you are capable of gathering knowledge, changing your mind based on that new knowledge/evidence or will you spend your life stuck in one corner endlessly repeating your mantra not even noticing the airplanes flying above your head. That might be some idea for the purpose of life but this forum is not the place for it.
  3. You just don’t get it do you. It’s not what makes sense to you or me, its what WORKS for EVERYONE, including those who believe in invisible pink unicorns. We can argue which of the many religions and gods are correct but we cant argue (unless you’re a lunatic) that when we get on an airplane it flies because science.
  4. You’re not making any sense, you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about and I suggest that you listen and learn from Strange and others here instead of hitting your head against the wall like above.
  5. I can speak for myself, I lean towards science or „intellectualism” like you call it because it works. It has nothing to do with faith and worshiping, simply its science that makes airplanes fly and computers work and it doesn’t work only for me, it works for you too. In case you haven’t noticed, the device you used to post your ignorant post above works because of science not religion.
  6. I don’t think its a good example. A 20 ton guitar case with a tightly fit guitar inside, when droped from 6 feet would create more damage to the guitar than an identical, lighter case. Tanks are built the way they are for other reasons. At least I think so.
  7. If both cases would be identical with only the mass being the difference the lighter one would give better protection to the guitar. The reason is that the heavier case would hit the ground with a higher force than the lighter case. More force = more damage. Edit: same goes for a scenario in which you bump the case against something, even with a perfect fit of the guitar inside there’s still more momentum acting on the bridge and the construction of the guitar. If you say kick the both cases laying on the ground - same thing, always more force will be acting on the heavier case thus on the guitar inside. The same goes for both cases being flown into space and being bumped, kicked around in zero gravity (obviously the drop scenario doesn’t apply in zero gravity) The only scenario when it doesn’t matter is when there are small forces being applied onto the two cases, a mikd bump or a tap which would not be enough to move either of the cases.
  8. Sure, we Poles are equally compassionate and reserved just like the British are. There are some especially „compassionate” team fans like the British ‚Millwall’ or Polish ‚Arka Gdynia’ But seriously, it all depends and youre right that stereotyping is not a good thing. I also screwed up the quotation marks again, oh well.
  9. I can tell you that it might not have worked if it was the other way around. If you had an Italian flag on your truck and wore an Italian jersey in an English pub you’d most probably not make it home that night.
  10. Heres a couple adjectives: Asinine & Incomprehensible. Can I/we be free of your nonsense from now on? I think your two logically sound thought experiments - the impossible task and Eric the god eater stand no chance in this thread, its pigeon chess and its going to stay that way no matter what untill a mod comes in and ends this. Preferably Phi could come up with a neat, stylish speech and let this poor thread die in peace.
  11. If you claim „white” and somebody delivers a rationally sound explanation that its in fact „black”, you don’t get to say „That’s what I really mean” Thats not how rational thinking works.
  12. When I first came into this forum I had a similar missconception which was straightened out by members here. Think of this not in terms of cause and effect instead think that spacetime curvature is gravity. Mass/Energy causes spacetime to curve and we perceive this curvature as gravity. „Curvature” and „Warping” are synonyms in this context but phycicists tend to use the term „curvature” Tell us
  13. Sensei I think you might be confusing the word "Omnipotence" with having to do only with "potence" The word "Omnipotence" is the ability of having unlimited power and is not directly related to having "potence", thats probaly something that some Hindu God would have Ofcourse the Omipotent God would have that ability too, amongst all other abilities.
  14. Not familiar with Bojack Horseman, will have to look him up. Googled him, will do it tonight. Who knows maybe I will experience enlightenment and I’ll post a thread in the religion section. Afterall we should respect ones faith.
  15. I read it as in reincarnation but this right there ^ clears it up very accurately. I feel you, bless you brother (to stay on topic)
  16. Should that read „early” life or did you intend as it is?
  17. This is the essence of this whole thread. You are giving an explanation for the killings in Exodus, your fallacious arguments are then being contradicted by a series of rational posts explaining where your line of thinking has gone wrong and you then use the „with God nothing is impossible” argument which is the purest form of ignorance because it relies entirely on faith and nothing else. By definition, no amount of rational, logical, experimentaly confirmed information can cope with this. The question is why are you trying to rationally explain the killings in the Exodus in the first place when you clearly admit yourself that the reason is: „Because God” Edit: And in case you missed it, there is an intrinsic discrepancy between „Rational” and „Because God” concepts. Can we agree on this at least? No one is trying to take your faith away from you, the reason your posts are being firmly countered in this thread is that you are trying to rationallize your faith. Its Sunday, go celebrate your faith and leave the realm of the rational out of it. Trying to do so is a dead end street and esentially a paradox from your own example - a married bachelor.
  18. So we’re watching tonights Russia-Croatia game with my Missus. The image Im posting below came up showing the spectators and she concluded that they’re wearing traditional Croatian hats. I almost choked on my chips, the best jokes are brought by real life Edit: She laughed hilariously when I told her what those „hats” are
  19. So the babies have to go because god knows they will be evildoers in the future but the pedophiles and mass murderers get to stick around. Nice line of thinking MassMan. According to this logic, god is a psychotic delusional murderer and if there is in fact any shred od decency left in him/her, he/she should commit suicide to prevent his/her evil doing in the future. Hows that for an explanation?
  20. Just get one of those free satellite tracking phone apps and use it to track the night sky objects. And don’t point that laser at aircraft, there has already been several incidents all over the world.
  21. As Stringy said, Gates has his well placed agendas and is spending billions of Buffets and his own money on vaccine promotion and other medical issues...even if you aranged a meeting and gave me Janus for support I doubt he’d budge, its just not his thing. Buffet on the other hand never gets into endevours he doesn’t fully understand so that a no no too. Musk is obsessed with good PR which funding physics project would not give him and Bezos got his own expensive space project to worry about. Besides, CERN is such a big project that no single person or even a few billionairs could fund alone, it needs to be a collaborative effort to make it happen and theres no quick money to be made.
  22. I just read your post on Mordreds feed about the dielectric field in star trek. You sir made my day, LoL !

    1. Silvestru

      Silvestru

Haha he was secretly banned for shaming Star Trek. What mods mention in the Banned section is a hist.

  23. You hit a string with your flashlight reference I build flashlights as a hobby for 15 years now, take it from a flashaholic - an induction based powersource can have no life in the portable flashlight world unless in a very specific, permanently mounted light source needing very short range „wireless” power trasmitance for some exotic reason. The amount of amperage that you can get from induction, even with say a 3kW coil like in your home induction stove is barely enough to power a tiny diode at even small ranges - an inch or two. And that effective range is determined by the inverse square law so when this guy in your video is holding his light bulb and increases its distance from the desk (a powersource hidden underneath it) by 2 inches - the current goes down by a factor of 4. And no, there is no plausible way of powering a light bulb with a few magnets, current produced by those magnets is orders of magnitude lower then that bulb needs to light up. I wont give you the exact numbers but Im pretty sure its orders of magnitude. If you ever need a flashlight PM me
