    I've been debating doing a personal experiment for a while now and today decided I'm going to try it even though it might be to difficult to do, or even impossible. I want to keep the Details a secret because well, i don't want to be robbed of my idea. I know it sounds funny, but it has happened to me in the past. Experiment: I have an organism, which can live in mammals(humans included), like a hook worm. It can not reproduce inside the body but only through the stool, but what i'm testing is for a chemical it secretes.     I was triying to figure out why diet coke and mentos mints have a chemical reaction, and if you eat a mentos then drink diet coke will it have the same reaction? And what is it that its only diet and mentos and not other pops? Thanks for my amature question.

    I tried reading an organic chemistry textbook recently and the complexity of it overwhelmed me. Now I'm wondering if it wouldn't make sense to learn chemistry like a language, where the elements are like phonemes or word-fragments that form "words" (i.e. complexes of atoms that build up to more complex configurations to form large molecules)? I can imagine that super-molecules would work this way, building up from multiple layers of sub-molecular structuring processes, but I don't know enough about chemistry to know if I'm right. Could chemistry be learned in this way, e.g. learning basic vocabulary and grammar of simple super-atomic complexes and gradually learning to…

    I have no access to laboratory but I am curious to know the result of this experiment which I read in my elder brother's book. EXPERIMENT Step-1 Take about 2g ferrous sulphate crystals in a dry boiling tube. Steo-2 Note the colour of the crystals. Step-3 Heat the boiling tube over the flame. I have figured the equation for this- heat 2FeSO4.7H2O(s) ------------> Fe2O3(s) + So2(g) + SO3(g) I need help to know 1- What is the change in colour after burning? 2- What would be the smell of the vapours?

    I have the stats on a well in a rural area and need to devise a way to make the fluoride level safe to drink. Assume I had to treat 1000 L per day and I wanted to get the fluoride concentration down to 1-2mg/L, how would I do that or show some calculations? the details of the well im focusing on are: pH=7.9 TDS= 975 [F-]= 13.1 mg/L [CO3^2-]= 3.0 mg/L [Ca2+]= 5 mg/L I know I need to precipitate it but im not sure how to show calculations for it or what to use.     I am experimenting with hydrogen production like you can commonly see on the internet using a "dry cell" hydrogen generator (or HHO generator). I am wanting to find the best electrolyte for the process. Most people on the internet use Lye, or Sodium Hydroxide, as an electrolyte. However, I am using aluminum plates vice stainless steel as my electrode's due to the relatively affordability and good conductive properties (over stainless). My understanding is that the Lye would prevent the oxidation layer forming on the aluminum and the water would basically eat (oxidize) the aluminum?
