It's my understanding that Adaptation occurs usually through more prominent genes in an organisms' population drift or mutate. How does a trait like camouflage occur, when the experience that the organism actually engages in to warrant said camouflage in turn kills it. In other words; How can an organism pass on a trait that it usually doesn't survive to pass on.

Does menthol kill spermatozoa or is it neutral... or maybe even helps it somehow?? (I don't know - I don't have a microscope, and Internet says nothing about it specifically so I ask) Now - someone would say "Well - you know - it depends on concentration!" - so - here - for example: say you have a menthol tablet for sore throat say 160mg in weight, containing 2mg of menthol, 0.1mg of sodium usnat and sorbitol artificial sweetener - would it kill spermatozoa?

1.technically composition of fruits like mango's with which we are making pickle contains water.what is difference between that water and water which we are adding? 2.If you say that the difference is presence of microbes, we can preserve pickles for years if we add large quantity of salt to it.when salt has capacity to sterilize pickle by dehydrating microbes, it should be able to take same action on microbes present in added water.but practically pickle spoils.why??

I am isolating RNA from cartilage, which is notoriously difficult due to the low cell count and stiffness of the tissue. The eventual application is q-PCR analysis. We use a hybrid TRIzol/RNeasy protocol that goes something like this: homogenize with trizol, three extractions with TRIzol/BCP Isopropanol precipitation Resuspend in 150uL RNAse free H20, mix with equal volume 80% EtOH Apply to QIAgen RNeasy spin column and clean according to directions. Elute in volume of 30 uL, running eluate through membrane twice to increase RNA yield On a good day, average yield is 30-40 ng/uL, with a 260/280 of 1.8+, and 260/230 of 1.3 ish. On a great day, can get as muc…

Hi, i I need an experiment about plants for high school so I want to do the effects of different coloured light on the phototropism of bean plants. But in order to do this experiment I need to find some useful applications of the results. how would knowing this benefit humans? I'm really interested in the topic but the experiment seems over done. Any suggestions on how I can make it more interesting? I would really appreciate the help.

Was lamarckian inheritance hypothesis wrong? he said the giraffe's long next develop over generations when its parents keep on stretch their neck to reach for high leaves. but then as we know, an individual's phenotype may change as a person develop large muscle after muscle training. but a child of muscle-bound parent is not born muscle-bound.offspring inherit genes, but not parents phenotypic changes. Does this mean Lamarck was wrong? so if he was wrong. what traits goes to just change in phenotype and what goes to change in genes. how is it decided. for example, the fishes wants to catch prey on land, in theory of evolution, legs were slowly grown over …

I'm looking to find a gas permeable membrane or tubing that can pass alkenes ( specifically isobutylene) through. For context sake this will be used in a continuous cell culture. If anyone has suggestions from previous experiences or knows of a good place to start, please give me a hand. Thanks!
