Hello everyone, I am working my way through an old Morrison and Boyd 3rd edition Organic Chemistry book. I was unable to find a solutions manual, so I thought this the best way to pose questions that I wasn't 100 percent sure about or could use a little more clarification on. Thanks in advance for the help anyone passes along through my, probable, multiple questions. The first question I had was from one that had the answer in the book: What is the Lowry-Bronsted acid in (a) HCl dissolved in water; (b) HCl (unionized) dissolved in benzene? © Which solution is the more strongly acidic? I got (a) and (b), but I said that (a) was more acidic than (b) because th…

Hello all, I have been stuck in this question for at least 3 hours, and i would like to get some tips on how to solve it. First, please check the drawing in the files to understand the water-barometer. The question is as followed: "The water-barometer is very sensitive for temperature changes in the flask. For the increase Δh in water level per degree of increase in temperature, the following formula can roughly be applied: Δh / ΔT = p / (T * ρwater * g) T is the absolute temperature and p the pressure inside the flask. The atmospherical pressure (outside the flask) is equal to 10^5 Pa. Now roughly calculate the increase of the water level in cm when the…

Hello! I have this question in my textbook, in which I know the answer, yet I cannot figure out how to obtain it: The air has helium 0,0007% (m/m). Convert this concentration into ppm. The answer should be 0,7ppm. Thank you for reading this!

Prepositional logic question, help!!? Put the following argument in propositional form, and prove its validity. If the floating feeling of peace that people experience when theyre near death is due to being near God in Heaven, then only Heaven-bound people should experience it. If that feeling is due to oxygen deprivation, then it should happen not only when people are near death but also when theyre at high altitudes. Bad people experience the floating feeling of peace when theyre near death, as do people at high altitudes. Therefore, the feeling is not due to being near God in Heaven. The part that I m having trouble putting in prepositional form is this part: I…

Ok so this question is less about the subject and more about where do I start. I have organic chem next semester and my winter break starts tomorrow. I want to get ahead on this reading beforehand I was wondering where do you guys in your experience think the best place to start on organic chem is? We left off on Acid and Base Equilibrium, net ionic equations etc... Idk if that has anything to do with organic or not but I am just looking for a little guidance. Thanks everyone!

Hello guys, I created problem that I couldnt solve: lets say we have WHITE OR BLACK balls are randomly put in series (or line, or queue). when we put them, chance will be 50% white or 50% black ball will be put. However, we cannot put 2 black balls consecutively, we can only put 2 white consecutively so, if we tried this 4 times putting 2 in series, we will end up with 4 probabilities W W W B B W B B but forth one will be ommitted and reduce to B W because we restricted that no 2 consecutive black balls, so we will end up with W W W B B W B W The problem is, if we keep putting balls following these rules, how much will be rat…

  15. I'm doing my last programming assignment. We have to make a 1-D array for wind speed, a 1-D array for temperature, and a 2-D array for wind chill (set to 0). Then we have to take the formula for calculating wind chill with the given temps and wind speeds and calculate the wind chill. Then we have to output the results in a table onto the screen. The instructions specify that we have to do our calculations in a separate function from the main, however when I try to do that it never works. I don't know how to call the separate function in the main. I copied and pasted the body of the separate function into the main (as you'll see below) and it works. Please tell me how to c…

T2:? I know you can't give me the answer, I just need to know what to do to find the vapor pressure. I am completely lost on this and I feel like it is incredibly simple.

Two superimposing waves are represented by equations y1= 2sin 2π(10t - 0.4x) y2= 4sin 2π(20t - 0.8x) Find the ratio of Imax and Imin. Ans is (25:9) I know that intensity is proportional to the square of amplitude and maximum amplitude = a1 + a2 minimum amplitude = a1 - a2 but these equations are only applicable for waves with same frequency. I also tried plotting it , but I am unable to figure out the value of y1 when y2=4 so how do I proceed ? Thanks in advance!

Hey, I am a bit confused by this problem regarding muscle torques and work during running. I am just having a hard time interpreting the graph. It is my understanding that the action is concentric when the curves are on the same side of the 0 line and eccentric when they are on opposite sides. I'm unsure however of how to tell which muscle group is predominant from the graph. I have attempted a few of the problems based on this logic, but I am not confident in my answers at all. Not looking for the solutions necessarily, but does anyone know how to interpret the graph and specifically to tell which muscle group is predominant and what action is occurring (flexion/extensio…

I'm struggling to understand some of the results, in particular what a negative effect size means in fMRI. Is there someone that can explain that to me? I'm referring in particular to this picture of the paper (the one attached). What can I say about the "unseen CS-"? Why is it so negative? Does it mean that the amygdala has a very low degree of activation? Thanks to anyone that can help me
