I recently received a homework assignment to create an invention made of simple machines. The requirements are that it must be a compound machine (made up of two or more simple machines) and that it must make an everyday task easier. I have been racking my brain for the past week and everything I come up with does not fit the requirements. Could someone lead me on the right path? Please be expedient because it is due this Thursday (Thursday, May 17). Thanks!

Hello, I'm just wanting someone to give me a little bit of guidance on the following conversion, i'm trying to convert my reading of umol/min/umol to umol/min/mg- i think i have the correct answer but i need my method validated if someone could possibly help? i have a spectrophotometric assay of a purified recombinant enzyme, Spy057, against p-nitrophenyl N-acetyl-β-glucosaminide substrate (total reaction volume, 2 mL; volume of Spy05783 added, 50 µL): - I have calculated the umol/min/umol using beer lamberts law to 289.63 - the Mr of spy057 is 43507g/mol - i then calculated that there is 43.507mg/umol - there is 1.899 x 10E-4 umol added rea…

Hello. My problem is as follows: Suppose x^4+y^2+y-3=0. a) Compute dy/dx by implicit differentiation. b) What is dy/dx when x=1 and y=1? c) Solve for y in terms of x (by the quadratic formula) and compute dy/dx directly. Compare with your answer in part a).I solved a) and b). a)=-4x^3/(2y + 1), and b)=-4/3. I'm stuck at c). This is what I've been doing: Using the quadratic formula to solve for y in x^4+y^2+y-3=0 gives y=-1±√-4x^4+13/(2). Then applying the chain rule in the result of y gives -4x^3/(√-4x^4+13). But it must give the same as a)=-4x^3/(2y + 1) . Where am I failing at? How can I solve it?Thank you for your time.

Select all statements that apply to the Null Hypothesis: a) has associated rejection regions that define limits associated with rejecting the Null at the expense of making a probabilistic error. b) It must be demonstrated not to be true by providing a significantly different sample c) It can be represented by confidence interval around a mean d) It represents the existing, normal situation and is assumed to be true. e) The Null hypothesis is tested via a sample and if the sample is good, then the null is accepted. I know that D is one. But I am having trouble figuring out if the other ones apply to the Null Hypothesis or not. Hi…

I have a class project and an idea I had deals with how people are influenced by outside factors beyond the given argument. I tested this idea with my partner for the project and generally we are in agreement about half the time which organizing data difficult. We used an online forum that is generally opinion based rather based on facts like this particular forum. My partner tends to agree with whoever has the most support from others in the forum. While I tend to agree whoever asks questions that are avoided. My partner and I both are influenced to varying degrees. I wondered if there was a way to eliminate this influence completely by using parameters and let…

I'm trying to write the balanced chemical equation for calcium carbide and water, I know acetylene gas is produced as a product but I'm unsure what the second product of the reaction is. I've seen two chemical equations with different products and I'm not sure which is the right one. CaC2 + H2O --> C2H2 + CaO CaC2 + 2H2O --> C2H2 + Ca(OH)2 Is the second product Calcium Oxide or Calcium Hydroxide?

Let the bias be the probability of turning up a head and denoted by the parameter q. If we use a coin with the bias specified by q to conduct a coin flipping process d times, the outcome will be a sequence of heads and tails. Then the probability - where nH is the number of heads turned up during d trials. Now using such a simulated coin with q = ½ to conduct the experiments based on a sequence of outcomes generated by the random generator from computer. For example, if the number generated by the random generator is less than 1/2, it assigned to be 0; otherwise, it will be assigned 1. I would like to perform the Matlab programming with certain …

Hello, I have a table with soil water infiltration rates in minutes per cm and then converted to cm per hour (60/number of minutes). When I calculate the average of both columns, I get diferent measurements. For example: In min /cm: 300, 6.768, 1.712 average: 102.82 In cm / hour: 0.2, 8.86, 35.04 average: 14.70 But 102.82 min/cm does not equal 14.70 cm/hour. Ive spend hours looking for my mystake but can´t find it, please help. I don´t know if this kind of question is apropiate here. If not please point me to an apropiate forum.

I have completed part A but dont understand part B. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks A student measures the potential of a cell made up with l M CuSO4 in one solution reservoir and l M ZnSO4 in the other. There is a metallic copper (Cu0) electrode in the CuSO4 and a metallic zinc (Zn0) electrode in the ZnSO4, and the cell is set up as shown in Figure 32.1. She finds that the potential, or volt- age, of the cell, E0cell, is 1.076V, and that the Zn electrode is negative. In an electrochemical cell, electrons spontaneously flow from the negative electrode to the positive electrode (the opposite situation applies in an electrolytic cell). a. At whi…

idk if my answer is right, could someone please be kind enough to tell me if its right? the question is A 0.1 KG TOY CONTAINS A COMPRESSED SPRING. WHEN THE SPRING IS RELEASES, THE TOY FLIES 0.45M UPWARDS FROM GROUND LEVEL, BEFORE FALLING BACK DOWN TO THE GROUND. ASSUMING THERE IS NO AIR RESISITANCE, CALCULATE THE SPEED OF THE TOY WHEN IT HITS THE GROUND. GRAVATIONAL FIELD STRENGH IS 9.8 N/KG. here's my working out... 1) i figured out the gravational potential energy = to the kinetic energy in this question 2)gravational potential energy formula is = mgh so i did o.1 times 0.45 times 9.8 which gave me the answer 0.44j 3) i now figured i need to work o…

Hello- first post here so I apologize if I have it in the wrong format or area Im dealing with a DNA sequence and looking for the terminator that follows. The ORF encodes for RtcB Ligase. Is there a reason I would not find a Terminator region downstream of the ORF? And if there is - why wouldn't it be factor specific? Thank you!

A room (8 m X 6 m X 4 m (height)) with hard sound reflecting surfaces is to be decorated for meeting purpose. The reverberation time is measured and found to be 3 seconds in a particular octave band. Calculate how much extra sound absorption must be provided to reduce the reverberation time to 0.8 s, that is suitable for speech and discussion. Assume that a carpet is added on the entire floor with the value of absorption coefficient = 0.2 in the same band and sound absorbing panels are added to cover areas of the wall and ceiling with the value of absorption coefficient= 0.4. What is the area for these panels required? You may assume that the absorption coefficient of t…

I have to synthesize a made-up molecule from a simple starting compound (preferably 3 carbons or less). My professor will know if I copy-paste a synthesis from online, so that definitely wouldn't fly. In order for me to get the maximum number of points, the synthesis must meet the following criteria: 1) There must be 4-8 steps (protonations and deprotonations not counting) 2) I must use reagents that we learned in both Organic 1 and 2. We can’t use anything we haven’t learned yet. NO DIELS-ALDER ALLOWED FOR CYCLIZATION, THE ONLY WAY WE HAVE LEARNED IS INTRAMOLECULAR SN2.) Here’s everything I have learned so far this semester: 3…

it prevents the egg from breaking because the sides of the egg is protected by the sponge and if you put it into a container it should be evenly covered with thick sponges. Does this work? Because I don't want to fail science again.

Hello all. Recently I have read the article: 'A. Agrawa, D. Lokshtanov, S. Saurabh and M. Zehavi. Split Contraction: The Untold Story'. I am interested in the theorem from the article. The theorem statement can be stated as: «SRBPC parameterized by the number of parts in R is W[1]-hard». I did not understand what is Split Contraction, SRBPC, Perfect Code and W[1]-hard. Could you please explain it easier for me? And I need explanation the proof of the theorem. As I understood, the theorem proofs through some Lemmas. And I ask you to explain for me these lemmas easier. Thanks.
