  1. I have a task to do and am a bit stuck - and feeling rather thick Somewhere above atomic number 110 there is an island of stability where the atoms of elements are likely to have longer lifetimes. There is as yet an unknown element that has 120 protons and 174 newtrons, it is called utimatum and has the symbol Ul 1. I need to state the atomic number (120?) and give the full symbol for the isotope (is this 294 over 120 Ul?) 2. I have to give the Period and the Group of the periodic table where I would expect to find Ul and explain how I arrived at it (I am stuck here with the group and have it under period 7). 3. I have to name another chemilca elememt i…

okay i need help with understanding how the earth tilts to the sun during diffrent seasons. If the earth is at a constant tilt of 23.5% in the same direction how can it be tilted away from the sun in the winter but point towards it on the summer? I tried using my pencil as a visual but even though i spin it in circular motion it dosent change the tilt from one side to another. All help appreciated greatly

Suppose a firm in a perfectly competive industry is producing a output of 10 units. The firms total revenue at this output is $80 and its total cost is $30. The firms marginal cost associated with the 11 unit of a output is $12. What can i say about an increase in production should it produce 11 unit or no this is what i have output TC MC 10 $30 $3 per unit 11 $42 $12 per unit profit is $50 @10 units = 30/10 = $3 @11 unit = 42/11 = $3.80 it should not increase production because the cost more per unit to make did i go about this right? thanks joe

  5. In my experiment , The plant (Chlorophyll )absorbs blue lights the highest but absorbs green light the lowest, what's the reason? Do the reasons are 1. the reflection of light ( colour ) ,2.the high energy from the blue light ? Would you like to suggest some other possible reasons for me, thank you.

Hi everyone, I'm new to these forums and require some help. I was given an experiment planning exercise by my physics teacher and need some idea of what to do. Basically, I need to investigate the relationship between the power supplied to a filament lamp and the temperature of the lamp's glass envelope. For the power adjustment I intend to use a variable resistor, power pack, voltmeter and ammeter setup (bearing in mind the P=IV). What should I use to measure the temperature of the glass, though? I've done some research into thermocouples, but I'm still not sure how exactly they work. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

i don't know if this is a stupid question but i can't seem to figure out the solution to the problem presented. 'You measure the photosynthesis speed of a North European plant. You measure it both under normal circumstances and at high concentrations of oxygen. Below are the results. How is it that the net CO2 fixation is lower at a higher oxygen concentration? I figure that it's because photosynthesis already produces O2 and if there's a high concentration of O2 already present then the plants won't take up CO2.

Spring break has ended and now I'm back in school and also new to the forums. This question I have is a review from Physics 20 and I have forgotten how to do it.... Question: The nearest star, Alpha Centauri A, is 4.07 x 10^16 m from Earth. a. How many light years is it away from Earth? b. What is the advantage of stating stellar distance in light years rather than meters? Part A, I got stuck because I don't know wheither to use the distance from the star to Earth, or the 9.46 x 10^15 m which is the distance light can travel in 1 year. If anyone can explain or help me, it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Explain why decreases in the zone layer led Canadian scientists to develop a system for measuring the intensity of UV radiation at ground level. The UV index that accompanies most weather forecasts is the outcome of this system.

I recently had an exam with the following logic problem in Oceanography. It apparently doesn't have anything to do with Oceanography, but rather Physics or Mechanics, I don't really know. It was only for bonus, so I guess the professor is allowed to ask whatever he pleases. Anyway, it is really togging at my brain, and he refuses to answer the question until the end of the semester (no one in class answered it correctly). So here it is: A car is traveling 60mph; a part of the car is traveling 120mph, and another part is traveling 0mph. What are the two parts? Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm starting to lose sleep over it. Thanks in advance.
