Then I found out they got rid of the logic section which i woulda aced...that think was damn easy. Anyhoo...I'm back on track and would like to know if anyone has taken the GREs within the last 2 years and whether the essay part is hard or is it still apart of the examination. I'm Looking to apply to digipen and CMU(game/computational cognitive science)

I`m curious to know what keeps some of you still interested in Science, it`s certainly not an easy subject and can be a very demanding mistress! we`ve had chats about what got interested in the 1`st place and what your most hated things (yucky jobs are) and we all face them daily, what keeps you coming back though? in fact what motivates you answer Science questions or be here? I know mine (I think) I`de like to hear some of your thoughts too

Bill Gates recently proposed a one-cent tax on all e-mails. He says that the average person might spend ten bucks a year, but spammers much more. The average spammer sends 50 to 250 million spams a day, which equates to between $182,500,000 and $912,500,000 a year. Per spammer. I say, ouch. That's probably enough to cover the budget defecit, with all the spammers. Do you like the idea, or no?

On the way to school today I said goodbye to my Gold Fish, so aptly named: Goldy. I waved good bye and asked for luck on my Bio test that I was going to have that day. On that test I did well, but I found out that it mattered little. For on the test there was an extra credit and it asked: What's a GoldFishes Memory span. I didn't know, I didn't even guess, but when it came back, I was in shock. It's memory span is only 3 seconds! I was devestated. But it couldn't be true, I told myself that Goldy was special, but there was only so long I could lie to myself. I knew Goldy didn't know me, and that he didn't even remember at that moment. We hadn't bonded or anything…

Greetings, Earthlings! I am the_creature_of_the_lair (or creature for short). I have just joined scienceforums and I have to say first of all that I am very impressed. My favourite field of science is cosmology/astronomy, however I'm interested in all fields. Debating is the sport at which I have attained some proficiency. I do not trust I.Q. tests. The reason? For the past year I have been conducting a pseudo-experiment. I have taken many I.Q. tests. My range was huge: 104-163. That's anywhere from average to genius. Then again, there are a lot of things I do not trust, being a cynical person. I'm still navigating these forums, so if there is pla…

Well, I love science, and with my schooling, could go down the path of biology, chemistry, or physics. I like them all, and am fairly smart and quick to pick them up. Which could get me the furthest, and which would I have the most opportunities in?

I went to the hardware store today, and asked if they had sodium nitrate. They said they didnt but they can order it in, so i looked at the list of chemicals they can get in. IT HAS KNO3 lol. finally somewhere that can get me KNO3. Save me heaps of time than making it. Its cheap too. $31 for 25kg. I will probably make it just for fun too. Anyone got any excuses why i am going to buy KNO3 that i can tell the guy behind the counter I cant really say i am making fireworks. LOL When i bought HCl and CuSO4 from the hardware the guy said "Your not making a bomb with that are you?" lol So yeah, From Ice_phoenix87

I was appalled by the nomenclature on a recent Slashdot article, so I thought I'd make it clear so I don't have to see it here: DO NOT WRITE NUMBERS LIKE "ONE MILLION TRILLION TRILLION". These numbers make you sound like a moron. Call huge numbers by their REAL NAME. It's like little kiddies who don't know the proper names for things. NO After a trillion comes a quadrillion, NOT a "thousand trillion" or "ten thousand million" or any other asinine name. BILLION TRILLION QUADRILLION QUINTILLION SEXTILLION SEPTILLION OCTILLION NONILLION DECILLION UNDECILLION DUODECILLIN TREDECILLON QUATTORODECILLION ..and so forth. If you need to name a large…
