Seen any good sculptures made from almonds lately? Note: no other nut-based sculptures may be discussed under threat of the ban-hammer!

As a spin of from the thread "good rock band names" where someone is asking for a new band name. How about listing good rock band names that you have actualy seen advertised, that's what I expected to see in the other thread. I check some listings and can't believe some of them Here's a good one: Eric & The Bunny Boilers (possibly an Echo and the Bunnymen tribute?) And another Our Lunar Activities Also Youcanteatthewordfood I thought that this one was clever - The Contra Band

This is from a "shark quiz" on msn. It starts with this: A shark attack is obviously more likely if you are in the water. It says 30 people got attacked so it's 1 in 10 million in the US who has gotten attacked. But for people out of the water and not near the ocean it would be about zero and if you are in the water it would be much greater (30 in however many are in the ocean in the year).. If you average them then you get 1 in 10 million, is that a far number?

Hello, I am a student and I want to get a head start on my science fair project 'cause all the others were really bad. This year I'm doing a survey and right now I'm in Germany and I cant speak German so I have to start online. Suppose a new technology came out. A new devise in which you install next to your house. It's top of the line, state of the art, brand new. It has many uses. You buy this devise small, but it installs itself, adds its own components, repairs itself, and can build itself to be quite large. Depending on the model, it can construct itself any where from 15 ft. to 180 ft. but on an average of 74 ft. Also depending on the model it weighs anywher…

Mine would have to be Samus Aran. I find it funny how many people think she is a guy.

I have noticed some relevancy between some members posts/replies and creation science. That got me wondering about member's beliefs. Do you believe in Creation Science or Huministic (Evolutionary) Science (the 'big bang')?

Well... yea... i am back. Done me exams. One of the modules was a bitch, and it dragged my average down. hovering around 70% at the moment. Didn't really put much effort into it. I normally start revising the night before the exam which has generaly been my style and has got me through so far. don't know if I should change it. But with 6 exams with 4 in 4days maybe i took a toll. Well anyway I am starving as usual. Hopefully I will start posting again. So... yea... how's everyone been doing?

Me and my mates were messing around with a chemistry set a few months ago and we were working on a chemical that deform some gypsies we knew. We never worked out how to do it. But the thing is while we were experimenting we come up with this potion and my mate sniffed it. He said it really burned his throat then everything was fine. I thought I'd give it a sniff too and I did. Then all of a sudden my mate let out this massive snort!! He sounded like a dragon and it was awesome! After a few minutes I did the same. We went down to his mum and in our snorty voice we both said "Tape the Simpsons cos we're going out" and she started whimpering! We scared lots of other peop…

Disney World (Orlando) now requires a fingerprint scan for all visitors entering the park. Universal Studios and SeaWorld are planning to implement similar systems soon. And once your fingerprints are in the system, there's not a single thing you can do about it, because you've voluntarily given that information to a private enterprise. Your ONLY option is not to go. But now that Disney is doing it, it's only a matter of time before everyone else is doing it as well. Full story here.

Does anyone remember these things from school? How reliable are they, or are they as flawed as IQ tests? If some are reliable, are any of them online?

I don't know. I saw it somewhere else, which is the article. It is like there was a middle-aged woman who utilized the fresh blood of young babes to take shower for keeping her young. Here goes my questions: 1. Was this a true incident? 2. Where did this thing occur at in Europe? 3. Did Holly wood make this into a movie so that I can rent to see? 4. Have you seen this story yet?

Hi All, Just wanted to take a moment to introduce you to our radio show “This Week in Science”. This Week in Science (TWIS) is a humorous and irreverent look at the week in science and technology news. Each week TWIS discusses the latest events in science and technology in a way that is entertaining yet extremely informative. The show is hosted by Kirsten Sanford, a PhD candidate in neuroscience; and Justin Jackson, a smart-alek part-time washing machine salesman & full-time quantum physics aficionado. TWIS has been radio broadcasting for over five years on KDVS 90.3 FM at the University of California, Davis. The show is also available online via arch…

Pinhole cameras work using a box with a pinhole in one end You can then see what is in front of the box by light cast onto the back of the box. Pinhole cameras dont have lenses My invention is a pinhole camera with these diffrances The box would be make of lead. The back of the inside of the box would contain a grid of sensors. The back of the outside of the box would hold a screen Each sensor's output is then conected to a pixel of the screen. The sensors could be for detecting input from a cirtain electromagnetic frequency or range. I know the sun produces all sorts of frequancys (including light) Some of those get though our atmosphere Some of…

Think about it: if there are some innovative robot devices who are able to perform the task of cleaning house, those servants or janitors will possibly be replaced (which means they will be jobless). For example, you just need to type what particular area place of certain place you want the robot to clean, and it will automatically clean up for you. If this kind of trend gets more and more, does that mean those servants or janitors who are without any school degree will meed their worst hardship in their lives?

What is the stupidest, most unlikely, needlessly complicated and generaly crazy conspiracy theory that you can think of? Here's some pretty tame ideas, see if you can beat them. The little flakes in blue toothpaste that get called whitening strips don't actually whiten the teeth but emmit a telephathic signal of whiteness. House and street names are part of an incredibly complicated mechanism for portraying directions for spies/aliens/goverment-people to get to a series of super secret research facilities. The number 666 is a key left by acient Egyptions to get into a large underground city known as Hell which is actually a really cool place, with clean water, free ho…

Welcome to the world of science, anything against evolution is an ennemie. An IQ test and personality test are a good idea to start in science since it is a large field.

I am new at sciences and physics, so please bear with me. I would like to know how fast air would have to travel at normal atmospheric pressure to create heat. I cannot find the answer anywhere.
