I made no representation of any position you have taken, and you have zero insight into what I "want" to do in this regard. I merely sarcastically pointed out that participation here is voluntary — you can leave any time. Obvious reasons to show up and start complaining almost immediately are trolling or sockpuppetry, neither of which go over very well with the staff. Um, that thread was talking about how to be a better forum poster. It had been answered well and didn't need the obfuscation you were so generously offering. If anything, locking it prevented you from breaking any rules. But you seem so determined... Almost like you have an agenda... This is the quality of this forum. Most of these members wouldn't care to help me solve 2+2. To clarify: We're a free, all-volunteer science discussion site. We have a broad range of members, from professionals to amateurs. Everybody here is generous with their time and knowledge, and I don't think you've been here long enough to talk about "most of these members". You seemed to take offense where none was offered, and then you made rude comments. This made it seem like you had a chip on your shoulder, that you joined up mad and wanted to vent on somebody. You've posted once about science, and sixteen times about how much we all suck. A blog sounds like a better choice for you. You can turn off the replies and not worry about accusations. The investigators found that Internet trolls tended to have personality traits related to sadism, psychopathy and Machiavellianism – a term used by psychologists to describe a person's tendency to deceive and manipulate others for personal gain. The link between trolling and sadism was the strongest out of all three traits, the researchers said. <snip> The investigators found a link between online commenting frequency and the enjoyment of trolling, which is consistent with previous research that has established an association between excessive use of technology and antisocial behavior. The study did not find a relationship between sadism and other harmless online activities, such as chatting and debating.
