For those of you lot who actually work in a lab of some sort...

I'd surely be the obsessive-compulsive one.

Few years ago, when I helped my dad with in his pub, I'd carry the empty beer bottles down to the cellar in crates, dividing them evenly on left, right, front and back so the weight would be evenly distributed.

Then again ... If I'd have to bare in mind different concentrations in the different pipette tips, I'd surely place them in the predictable way, to keep stuff organised and logical.

I am well and truly in the OCD camp - although I disagree with the naming Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. What sort of sadist names a mental condition in which routine, the need for symmetry and regularity, and a desire for orderliness can become dangerously paramount a "DISORDER"?

That is funny. However, I do teach people to minimize movement over open vials or tips as part of good practice for clean or sterile work. So normally for a right handed person the tips would be to the right of the sample and you would take left to right (most of the time). Thus, the first image would be more common for a left handed person. Unless, of course the setup allows you to have sufficient space to make a "bypass" movement. Then you can start from the right, depending on what feels more comfortable

Rituals and such...

Would be perfect except the order is CDE (just cos it is missing the AB doesn't mean you can switch order) and it isn't an acronym. Although my imposter syndrome is now rearing its head and making me think I have missed the joke
