Every time I start up IE, I am getting a "security alert" message from Equifax. I have removed the certificate from my root certification options, but the alert still keeps popping up [even after I have restarted the computer]. Equifax is now not even showing in my certification list, but I still get the security warning every time. Any ideas please anyone? --------

Well, so to rephrase what I mean, files exist as binaries, and to pull that file out of existence is to get the correct binary sequence or number. Now this number can be quite huge, but with some trainer we should be able to filter and get the desired file out of thin air. Now this is just a thought, but think of a machine that can pull and get you the file you need by building and training binaries. So I am just curious as to what approach you would take because this is all theoretical. Probably with an evolutionary algorithm.

I am new to this forum and am wondering if anyone here is familiar with the concept of the technological singularity? "A technological singularity is a hypothetical event occurring when technological progress becomes so rapid and the growth of artificial intelligence is so great that the future after the singularity become qualitatively different and harder to predict"

I've been assigned the task of choosing a set of technologies to replace a bunch of Excel spread sheets and e-mail. My team has thought of two, XML & XSLT with JavaScript, but there may be others out there that we find more suited to the project. I understand that I need to be specific for this post to stick, so I'll try to give as much detail as I can, without breaking my confidentiality agreements. The work flow, as it is today is that Marketing talks to a customer and fills out a spread sheet with a customer's requirements. Some of the fields on the spread sheet contain fields that should only have certain values. Some fields should only have certain values based …

Hey guys, I just finished my basic calculator in HTML/Javascript and I was wondering if anyone would be able to test it out. The coding isn't going to be 100% perfect since I'm fairly new at it and the teacher hasn't taught us all the ways to do things. So right now, I'm mostly looking to see if it works. Valid entries include #operator#, then hit =. Please don't enter like -4*+8. Both numbers can be negative, as well as decimals, but with one operator in between or in the case of a negative (-#*-#) is okay. I attached a notepad file of the code. Thanks! theADOLESCENT Edit: I can't find where you guys would see the attached file so I'll use t…

When information is stored on disks, minuscule regions that make up each bit of data are magnetized in one direction or its opposite, to represent a 0 or a 1. Rewriting data involves sending an electromagnetic pulse that reverses the spin of selected bits. Accelerate the pulse and you shorten the time needed to store or rewrite information. But if the pulses come too quickly and intensely, the high energy involved makes some of the magnetic changes happen randomly instead of predictably and reliably, according to a group of researchers writing in Wednesday's edition of the journal Nature. http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=562&ncid=738&am…

I like to keep things going when I'm doing whatever it is I'm doing. I often need to read lengthy online articles to keep up to date with or further my knowledge on n number of topics at any given time. I'm spending way too much time reading while I could also be doing other things. So where's the text to speech api? Selecting, copying and pasting text and then listening to it would allow me to spend more time programming, playing WoW or doing math....... TV used to be the filler while doing these things but I have had a no TV policy for some time now... I need to fill the gap. Software is available, there's all the telephone billing agents and I've seen ga…

I am now a science writer, and I have been focusing on the science of photography. An excerpt of my work can be found at: http://luminous-landscape.com/essays/art2.shtml See also Photophys.com At present I am concentrating on computational photography and the computational camera. These topics are the subject of courses in Computer Science Departments. What are the best textbooks, if any, in this area? Can you suggest good references? I am aware of online class notes from various universities.

So I have already taken the old earth magnets out of my REALLY old computer hard drive and now I have this printer. I was wondering, before I get rid of it, if anyone knows of any useful parts inside? I am probably not going to be building any cylons or anything anytime soon so robotic parts are less useful to me. But magnets or something like that is always fun to keep around. Anyone have any knowledge of what is good to keep from a printer before I get rid of it?

Does anyone use Cleverbot? Have you used it today? Cleverbot is a conversation and knowledge Sim program that learns from its past conversations with other Users. IBM (As you all know is a top knoch computer logistics and development company) plans on bringing they're famed 'WATSON' to doctor offices, and surgical rooms to bring sergeons diagnosis' and analysis on certain medical problems. What if IBM used Watsons advanced Human intellectuall capabilies to understand what people say, to make a so called 'iProgrammer'. All the person does is give watson a full rundown of the system a computer language will be minipulating, and tells watson what he/she wants a progr…

The “Supersymmetric Artificial Neural Network” (or “Edward Witten/String theory powered artificial neural network”) is a Lie Superalgebra aligned algorithmic learning model (created by myself 2 years ago), based on evidence pertaining to Supersymmetry in the biological brain. A Deep Learning overview, by gauge group notation: There has been a clear progression of “solution geometries”, ranging from those of the ancient Perceptron to complex valued neural nets, grassmann manifold artificial neural networks or unitaryRNNs. These models may be denoted by [math]\phi(x,\theta)^{\top}w [/math] parameterized by [math]\theta[/math], expressible as geometrical gr…

If you haven't heard, Nevada is beginning to use self-driving cards. Not fully self-driving, but enough to stir some discussion. http://www.extremetech.com/extreme/205160-sign-of-the-apocalypse-as-daimler-unleashes-self-driving-trucks-in-nevada-hardly Anyways, I think this should begin a discussion about the future of strategy and how self-driving(running) vehicles or units will enter us into a new age of strategy, mainly real-time strategy. As technology gets perfected and the reliance of human uncertainty will grow nill, real-time strategy simulations will become more realistic due to the certainty of this technology. This means that real-time strategy game…

Don't worry, this isn't intended as an open thread for what the best language is. Specifically im looking for a language that has easy to build GUI's but also crunches numbers, ALOT of them. I'm somewhat loathed to pick up any .net language, and i guess there arent many with numerical advantage. Cant use Java purely because theres too much effort with compatibility of DLL's that i require. I was using C# because its very easy to get started with but im thinking perhaps a c++ framework would be best with QT or such for graphical needs. c is what i've programmed in most but its too low level, c++ seems pretty strong but i dont know of any other languages that …
