Who is your favorite magician?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone!

I am new to posting on this forum but wanted to ask you all who is your favorite magician and why?

recently Dynamo - because he's a pretty normal as a fella and is super cool and does close up tricks.

I really like Penn and Teller as they push the boundaries and include comedy.

I also love Derren Brown for his style and superb distractions.

But my favourite?.... would have to be ME!!! :) As I like whipping out the odd trick in bars and at parties and stuff and sometimes for fun I even do a David Blain/Dynamo stunt on total strangers in the street - because it is awesome fun.;

Tommy Cooper. A brilliant performer who was able to do the magic and fluff it at the same time.

Apparently a really unpleasant character in real life though.

I'd go for Derren Brown too - i like how he uses his abilities to demonstrate how easily manipulated we are into believing untrue things. Very good live performances too - better than the TV stuff.

Probably Ricky Jay or Teller. As far as passed, probably Dai Vernon.

ooh! Ricky Jay!? Is he that amazing card guy? Deals like a wizard and throws cards into melons and stuff - he's good..

I also like Jay Sankey - he does ace you-tube tutorials for some simple but really cleaver and powerful little tricks.

James (The Amazing) Randi. Not so much for the magic itself, but for everything he's done for skepticism and rational thought.

Greg Frewin, who has a local theater here in Niagara Falls, but also appears in Vegas, cruise ships, TV specials, etc.

Mostly because my niece has been in his show for about 8 yrs.

Tommy Cooper.

I have seen his videos on youtube and i am very impressed.

yea - well you get nuts everywhere... They ARE real - in the way that they are real people doing real things, but all of their 'tricks' are just that - tricks. I've seen those vids where they claim that all magicians are possessed and use real magic. It's just part of their god delusion.
