WTF !?

Featured Replies

OMG, we've been spammed !

Can someone please clean up and take out the garbage.

( and maybe ban the jackass responsible for it )

Maybe we should be like Dr. Sheldon Cooper. If someone wants to join our 'group', they need to be able to answer a few science questions ( 5th grade level ) or pass an aptitude test.

Indeed, more users should have the ability to delete spam, and the actual mods can look it over after having their coffee.

Done. There's not usually a lot of staff on around this time except sometimes me if I'm not busy at work. If we're hit with a lot of spam during my day time (GMT+10) and no one seems to be around, you can send me a PM. I'll get the notification on my phone and then deal with it when I'm able.

Give the ability for members to hide / delete posts? Honestly, that sounds like a recipe for disaster.

Edit: We seem to be getting quite a lot of spam. This may be an issue with something in the filter, so you'll just have to be patient.

Also, thank you to everyone who has reported all the spam, but if everyone could hold back on doing so for the moment, it would be appreciated. If we have a deluge of spam, you can pretty much assume that we'll see it with or without it being reported. It is especially redundant if you are reporting multiple thread by the same person.

just nuked another - after, naturally, taking a note of the telephone number in mumbai of the astrologer who guarantees me future happiness

Us sceptical Aquarians can see right through rubbish like that.

if you are reporting multiple thread by the same person.

Another science forum I visit has recently reported 4 thousand spam messages from the same 'person' in one go.

A different one, also plagued with spam, enforces a halt state of about 30 seconds when you first login.

Most bots go away in that time.
