Why use the atomic bomb on Japan?
Indeed, it depends on the context, but let's be honest, there's fook all we can do to stop his finger; the illusion is his ability to win...

Was Nietzsche talking about the 2nd coming of Jesus?
When did I say he was a poor man? How do you persuade the village idiot that it's not fun to wave at the car's? It doesn't matter what illusion or delusion you choose, if you're content with the result. For instance, if you imagine the bad guy who forced you to stop waving at the traffic, got his comeuppance; most of us would be happy with that, for those that aren't, an illusion that it's a bad thing to do may stop them from negging a reasonable post... 😉

Asteroid defense ideas
I imagine the timing would be an issue, given the relative approach speed.

Why use the atomic bomb on Japan?
Wittgenstein. That's my response. Haha wait until you read my science fiction book! None of that explains anything, what exactly do you think is wrong with my logic? And we circle back to the post of mine you negged, what makes you think this issue would crack the top twenty of legitimate threats to your daughters mortality (that you can do something to affect)? You might think it's a laudable objective, but so is a cure for everything, a more laudable one is to come up with a perfect shield that is shared with the world, bc that is more achievable. He hasn't yet, that should tell us something about the reason for his propaganda, it strengthens his apparent resolve and ability in the eyes of his enemies; he doesn't give a shit about 'his' people.

Was Nietzsche talking about the 2nd coming of Jesus?
You had me up until my bolded part, the context of his thinking, until the tragic death of his father; the truth he found so ugly and frightening was 'the death of god'. I think the ubermensch he had in mind, was the person that could create the necessary psychological crutches for the so called 'herd'; of which we are all a part. That we're not all born equal, is in some ways literally true and seemingly obvious, we've all seen the village idiot who's happy to just stand at the side of the road waving at passing traffic; for me, and I think N, he would be like john the baptist, Jesus (no one special) was the one person who got the lesson and he happened to be really good at PR. IOW the ubermensch was just a lucky guy with the right skillset.

Why use the atomic bomb on Japan?
Indeed, my point exactly. 😉 IOW it's an impossible dream, so why even worry about that way of being dead?

Why use the atomic bomb on Japan?
We still have (by which I mean some of us) a viable small pox virus, can't think why we'd keep that around?Just hoarders I guess...

Why use the atomic bomb on Japan?
That's not true, at all, especially in this context; it only really work's in the traditional Mexican stand off, where each player knows the other player's only have one bullet each and it only work's for the first player to throw away the gun, even the suspicion that one of the other player's has more than one bullet, invalidates the throw away your gun theory. And if there's four player's the advantage would go to the player, who shot the player who was first to throw away the gun. 😉 After that, it gets a little complicated. That's certainly true of the musket, in this context, after that it gets a little complicated... 😉

Why use the atomic bomb on Japan?
Not my analog, my point being that while the knowledge is out there, no one is going to throw away the ability to wield even if it has to be a secret. The gun analog is delt with by game theory, which is not applicable here.

ZOMBIFICATION OF HUMANITY AND THE HERALD OF AI.
Indeed, I suspect that it's a Wall-E type imagining of our future, with AI doing all the hard work; the issue with that is, not everyone is lazy enough to just sit there and not think at all. I have to disagree: he doesn't suggest one is better than the other, just that the Übermensch can see what other's can't and the great man/woman can teach/show us all a way to understand the path to peace in ourselves. I have a thread on this, let's discuss this in a more suitable forum.

ZOMBIFICATION OF HUMANITY AND THE HERALD OF AI.
Indeed, the thread of the sword is in less and less hands, so each pluck maybe the final straw; kind of a zeno's paradox... Do they have too???

ZOMBIFICATION OF HUMANITY AND THE HERALD OF AI.
We're never going to stop competing like animal's, but I think we may have come closest when some religion's started; Nietzsche's Übermensch perhaps...

Why use the atomic bomb on Japan?
Let's explore a world where America didn't drop the bomb on Japan (assuming the secret was kept); would Russia bother to invest so heavily in developing such a bomb in peacetime, with their obvious strength in Europe? Korea would still be a radioactive waistland now, is that more or less suffering? That fact that they did drop it when they did took the weapon and it's devastating power, from the abstract into the reality. An abstract threat isn't really a threat at all politically, therefore no value as a deterrent. If we all have a gun to our head and no one is willing to pull the trigger, what's the point of trying to think of a way to uninvent the gun? Bc it's way easier to invent a way to deflect a bullet, than to erase all trace of knowledge on the subject.

The Dawkins delusion...
You're missing my point, not everyone is equal doesn't mean they're not capable; the great man only needs to exist when most people can't see the light. *sigh!!!* You sigh, but again point missed so I'll raise you a MEH... But you can't be arsed to be more specific, it's not like I forced you to participate in this topic, jeez... 🙄 Indeed, but who said science is the only path?

Why use the atomic bomb on Japan?
The thing is, the only people that has suffered since Japan are the people banging their heads against a brick wall. The Greenham Common Women's Peace Camp, for instance, I guess the 'peace camp' aspect was ironic, since no-one can fire the bloody thing's and plenty of cops got a knee in the balls defending an otherwise peaceful base.

Why use the atomic bomb on Japan?
If I don't want to suffer, am I devoid of a moral compass? The world is full of bullies, most people just pay up and go home; heroes are few and far between, mostly bc they're bigger than the bullies and they tend to avoid that sort of problem...
-
The Dawkins delusion...
That's the thing about the written word, a typo can cause so much confusion down the line. The him, and to some extent the it is, I think, pretty clear in the OP. Perhaps you could be more specific. That not everyone is equal doesn't mean not everyone is capable of greatness, the situation/context mould's the person, and when the hour cometh the most capable rises to greatness... Neither was Hitler... 😉
-
The Dawkins delusion...
Indeed, nor should they. But as Nietzsche suggests, not everyone is equal and it takes a great man/person to point out the difference.
-
The Dawkins delusion...
No, 'he' made it relevant to others, when 'he' wrote the book; every other biggoted argument just used a different word.
-
The Dawkins delusion...
Depends on the subject. 🙏 His delusion is that 'god' is relevant to the discussion; much like every other biggoted argument. Science doesn't give a shit what 'people' believe, some scientists do...

Why use the atomic bomb on Japan?
TBH, I'm indifferent to the issue, it doesn't even crack my top 20 of thing's to give a shit about; why would I waste my emotional energy, spending my daily chip allowance needs deeper problem's to warrant a reasonable return on my investments.
