https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0012fnc Well worth a listen... Isn't a fairy tale a human institution? In that Reith Lecture, the question is asked "What would allow a human to live in a world without work?" Some human's can, Buddha for instance, not only can but has the ability to teach others. What other human institution, tries???

I'm not sure there is any sort of distinction between a thiestic and non thiestic religion, both require a leap of faith at some point; karma for instance, require a belief that the nasty b'stard will sufer appropriately (without your witness), which could be argued is easier to believe with some sort of diety. Well, your Hitler arguement basically shoot's this argument in the foot. "The briefiest look at history will tell you that the early religions that were around when civilisation was in it's infancy were hugely vicious and destructive in nature." Until Jesus, Mohammed, Buddha etc. came along

Religion is like our favourite comedian, they make us laugh and feel better, and they all take the piss out of each other, which is funny; but wo betide the funny man that takes the piss out of our favourite comedian. Ricky Gervais is not the same as God, but in 5000 year's some people will still get the joke. Fear - joke = Ignorance.

I think we're curently in the capitalism end game, by which I mean, children are not taught about value at all; they are bombarded by made up dream's, which is avaliable to everyone and if you can't afford it now, we have a plan 😉... If only we had a PhD student to investigate the value of money...

Is Suicide right or wrong?
- What would be the most important thing than humans should try to achieve in priority in your opinion ?
How do you propose to do that, without some sort of cull? Without a cull, you would unbalance the population, to the point that more people need care than there are people capable of careing, that would result in a self induced natural cull, in which you'd be included; it could be argued that that would be the fairest way; unless, of course, you're one of the population that's forcibly castrated. Besides, who decides who should be forcibly castrated? Let me guess, those who are seen to be littering...- What would be the most important thing than humans should try to achieve in priority in your opinion ?
Thinking you know the answer and knowing the answer are different, and pointing out a fact that is common to all humans (physiology aside), however closely related, is your person opinion/bias. I don't know what problem's you and your son are having, it's not really relevant; let's imagine (for examples sake) he was an alcoholic, while it's perfectly true that he has to stop drinking, just telling him that won't achieve anything. Even the brightest of student's sometimes need more than just a lecture, there's a philosophical name for that problem (which I can't recall). I think bad teachers are responsible for a lot of our biased opinion, that's not a fact it's just my opinion based on observations.- Religion factor
Religion's do, it's people that don't.- Please name some practical solutions to combat littering.
What a well reasoned reply... 🤔 The only type of criminal that wants to be seen committing a crime (terrorist's), doesn't expect to live, or get away with it; that would be the very definition of someone that does not care what the punishment is. What about criminal's that think they can't be seen, camo, disguise etc. but are uncovered by forensics, I hear you, potentially, argue; dude, we are talking about petty littering, "no one expected the Spanish inquisition". 😇 Don't even get me started on fly tipping... 😣- Please name some practical solutions to combat littering.
Don't you have to been seen, before a punishment is a threat?- The things that intrigue me most about the human body.
Without reading the thread, I'm intrigued as to how it got from the topic title to fashion in just 3 page's...- Please name some practical solutions to combat littering.
Part of that is the culture they live in, as described in my dog shit analog; the punishment is almost irrelevant if one is always seen and most people buy into the righteousness of the crime; in a rabbit warren there are lots of places for hidden eyes to witness without being seen. In a park there's nothing for the hidden eyes to hide behind. Well, I can't force you too pay attention... 🤓- +1, -1, ...
Fair enough, although anonymity would give more reliable data.- Please name some practical solutions to combat littering.
Point well missed.- +1, -1, ...
Sorry @Genady that came across way more condescending than was intended, I just not sure what benefit would come from knowing that some people like what you say and some don't; whilst there's a lesson to be had, especially with a neg, I think the fact that it's given anonymously gives the lesson more gravity.- Please name some practical solutions to combat littering.
In an ideal world why would we pay someone to clean up after ourselves? As for dog shit, yes it does work (because we've got the army of the righteous, on the case) but only when we're seen, then we show our civic brethren our act of picking up the shit; the problem is, when we're not seen it becomes a matter of convenience. Which means that, in the dark a) a lot of shit is left, because we can't be bothered (besides it's not directly on the path) and b) a lot of plastic is added to the shit and then added to a tree because the bin's to far and I can't be bothered to carry it. In a less than ideal world, we accept our responsibility and just use the swear jar to assuage our guilt.- Please name some practical solutions to combat littering.
It would be ironic, if the inventor of the stocks charged to much...- +1, -1, ...
Would that make you feel better?- Ideally, mankind would sexually select partners for excellent human health.
What a load of bollocks...- Please name some practical solutions to combat littering.
Are you sure that you have thought about this properly??? Without the promise of power???- What would be the most important thing than humans should try to achieve in priority in your opinion ?
Perhaps not and perhaps he can. But the problem is, you think you know better; so, in actual fact, you're trying to force him to comply with your biased thinking; without thinking you are... 🤒 - What would be the most important thing than humans should try to achieve in priority in your opinion ?
