    'Stupid Woman'

I'm OK with it - if you want to remove gender from language then I don't care - but you have to let everyone know about it and get them all to agree. ? well as I said - if you want to remove gender from language then that's fine.... but it hasn't been removed, so the word 'woman' gets used to donate that you are talking about someone who is female. Why you would make the distinction between male and female I do not know - I am sure many have their own reasons. Sometimes for clarity - like in this sense when there is a man AND a woman before you the use of the word man or woman can distinguish which one you are referring too. Is this sexist too now?

The man has campaigned for decades against sexism, racism, war and many things. He is as left wing as you can get and still be considered viable as an mp. To label him as as a racist or a misogynist is ridiculous. You'd call about 75% of the nation sexist ad racist if you used the same measuring stick.
  3. OK - I think they are only going for 2C classification now which is better than the 2B. But still - it is based on tests doe back in the 80s and it assumes routes into the body from nano forms. The registration was TiO2 across the board and not the separate nano and micro forms. The vote is in the new year... it will be tight. It will be even tighter when the UK leave as we are one of the main countries championing proper testing/retesting and separation of the nano and micro forms. Unfortunately - the people that will vote this through or not have no science backgrounds and know nothing about the differences between the micro and nano forms... When I suggested we tell them so that we know it was met with laughter and the statement - we can't do that as it will embarrass the EU scientists and we aren't allowed to discuss it anymore as it will upset people. WTF!? There have been NO TiOP2 related deaths in the industry ever recorded. SIMPLE SOLUTION: Register the nano and micro forms separately and test both forms for possible inhalation cancer risks and publish the results fairly. Classify the 2 grades according to the up to date finding of the tests. EASY.
  4. not the main focus - but as I said - there have been NO wars internally in the EU since it's creation. . It is more than a trade agreement - it like a single entity - we are all under the same government - that's why the right wingers hate it - immigration and conceding power to a higher authority. They don't care if the laws are better or not, they just don't want to be thought of as 'ruled' by a foreign country and they don't want foreign people just walking in unchecked.

    'Stupid Woman'

the phrase 'stupid man' gets used all the time by women and men - I can't see this at all. If you care about being called a 'stupid man' or a stupid woman' then imo you need to go rethink your values and toughen up. You wonder why there was a brexit.... it's because you heads are in the sand or in your own echo bubbles. I was physically sickened by how blind many of my friends were when they were crying at the brexit result... how they never saw it coming I do not know (well I do - they live their own bubbles of confirmation). To donate he was talking about the woman and not the man sitting next to her? He actually denies it and claims he was talking about the whole bench though. lol - how is that not worse? He 'said' (if you believe the press) 'woman' to denote the target of whom he was calling stupid. If he meant the person sitting next to her then he would have said stupid man. That is how the English (and American) languages work - we have gender in them. In Germany it is worse as their are 3 genders (well 2 and a neutral).

    'Stupid Woman'

Is that what happened in parliament yesterday? Was he mocking her with a direct accusation of stupidity, emphasising the word 'woman' using it as if it was an insult?... or commenting to his friend in private (as sideways whisper for his ears only) that he thought the person was stupid? Her gender has no bearing on her intellect at all... as I said above I though what he said was childish... to suggest a woman who has risen through the ranks to take the most powerful political position in the country is 'stupid' is 'stupid' in it's own right... she would HAVE to be pretty good to reach the position and to be voted into that position by her peers. I think he was probably just releasing some frustration at her lack of understanding or wilful dismissal of his argument. That would be because you are a woman. So if someone called you stupid they would call you a stupid woman. If they called ME stupid they would use the phrase 'stupid man'. I regret to say that I have been on the receiving end of that statement and it was probably deserved. ... so in MY experience I don't really hear the phrase 'stupid woman'... it's always 'stupid man'. Is that sexist? It is only sexist if you consider using gender in language to distinguish between the sexes sexist. Maybe that is - but that is the language we have and used correctly. If you want that changed then you have to change the language - not attack those that use it correctly. I've said it before - you jump on people like this and you are preaching to the choir - this is why we have Brexit and Trump.... because we aren't allowed to discuss things for fear of upsetting the PC brigade - so they don't get discussed and peoples shit views come out at the polling stations. Better have the discussion in public and educate the people who hold their racist and misogynistic views to the fact that they are holding biases and prejudices or whatever - rather than jumping on them and shutting them up so they slink off and continue to keep their views private and vote accordingly in the ballot boxes. Now they have won (the brexit vote/trump pres) they are over the moon and feel justified in holding their views once again. Keep shutting them up and scolding them school teacher style and they will go underground again, never to be seen until next polling day.
  7. It's nothing like that... nonsense bear. It's about stabilizing the area. No 2 countries in the EU have ever gone to war since it's creation... that might not sound very impressive but before that there were permanent wars over centuries and centuries, right up to its formation in the 90s. It has never been so stable. You will get people finding problems and criticisms all the time whatever happens, but screw those war mongers and nationalists... peace is the way forward.... or war and death and misery... we have a choice. Then the EU would deal with that the same way it deals with any other member country that flaunts the rules. It has systems set up for such things. well no - but it adds to the strength of the alliance. You go to war with France for example then you go to war with the whole of Europe... if Russia were part of Europe then that just adds their might to the equations. You attack France then you are attacking the UK, Germany, Russia, Poland etc.. I doubt it will ever happen being honest... not for generations anyway... who can say? I am not seriously putting it forward as a realistic solution right away -- but if they embraced it it would solve a lot of problems right off the bat.
  8. ... allot which would be sorted out if they engaged in talks to join the EU. They would be given a list of things to comply to. If they did that then again, I say, why not? I doubt they (or at least their leaders) want in anyway.
  9. But what does that have to do with Russia? They are easy stable enough to join the EU no? I don't get it. Once in they would have to comply with many laws that would help them. Their military might would strengthen ours (the EU). Win win imo.

    'Stupid Woman'

Jeremy Corbin's latest trouble has been caused by some lip readers claiming he called the prime minister a 'stupid woman' under his breath to the person sitting next to him during the PM question time after she failed to answer his questions adequately. He claims he was talking about the whole front bench and said that they were stupid people. There has been outrage about it with claims of hypocrisy and sexism and arguments between differing lip readers as to if he said 'people' or 'woman'. The venomous fake moral outrage has been nauseating.... Putting aside the childishness of calling someone stupid just because they cannot or will not see your side of an argument, they were not complaining that he called her stupid, but that he said that she was a woman. I don't get the fake outrage at all unless it is just a distraction from the rest of the debacle that has been going on over the last couple of years. ...although it leads me to question:- When did it become sexist to call a woman..... a woman? Also - do any of the public really care or is it just his political enemies jumping in to try to discredit him as a hypocrite?
  12. I think it would be great - they would have a 1/28th say in how the EU was run - but they would have to answer to the EU courts if they got up to any funny business. Why not? It would be a great marriage... they would just become part of Europe. I doubt the US would approve... and it would make the UK look pretty silly for leaving - but I'd be down with it 100% for building bridges and forging future world peace.
  13. Also - just to rule out the simple explanations... the product wasn't warm when sealed in the bottle was it? Could it be cooling contraction?
  14. I thought so - that explains the de ja vu! I couldn't find the thread though from the search engine... but found it by searching again without the typos.:
  15. but you'd 'correct' them with quoted scripture from the book in question rather than real world evidences, which is what people get frustrated about. I'd probably enjoy the debate... but if you just quote the bible as your sole argument then no one will be interested. You cannot use the bible as evidence or support for what is written in the same book. The argument is that the book has errors.. find ONE error and the whole thing falls apart as god is supposed to be perfect and wouldn't allow this mess to happen. The numinous I feel for how science describes the way the universe and life evolved is amazing - greater even than if it were made by a magic word from a supernatural being (which only draws the question - where did that come from anyway?).... when I see a new blue supermoon low on the horizon I still find myself looking to praise whatever set such a beautiful thing there - it is only natural... but proves nothing... nothing 'put' it there. Just because an old book says certain things proves nothing - there are many old books and many other religions in which people feel as strongly as you do about your faith and if you were bought up somewhere else in the world you'd have a different religion by your upbringing. I have 'reference' books and 'science' books from childhood that are WAYYY out of date - lol. They aren't fiction.... but reading my encyclopedia of astronomy and science that I got from MY granddad when I was very young it shows it's age for sure, lol. Some things in it are plain wrong... although they were 'right' at the time as far as they could be with what they knew then. Just to let you know - I gave you a couple of neg reps when you started trying to push HI around. The mods do a good job of trying to keep some sense and order in these discussions (it is a science site.... and we are discussing a supernatural all powerful magical being that has no evidence for its existence, how do expect these discussions to go? lol).
  16. I think it was only me that said you (and the other guy) were deluded for believing the bible in light of the world of evidence against it.... It wasn't the mods. It wasn't meant as an insult, I was in the same boat myself for many years. Even when ALL the evidence pointed against what I believed - I still CHOSE to believe it.... I was deluded. It is just a word that defines such a state of mind. No - MOST of them are fiction (depends on the bookshop) - no-one is saying that because the bible is fiction then all other books are or are not fiction.... each gets it's own assessment individually.
  17. It makes sense in the way that I've got my head around it to a point... but no -one knows what happened before BB or how Abiogenesis was triggered for example - there are many explanations and speculations but no-one knows at all what happened before that, what was there and for how long.... I don't think we ever will (not in our life times anyway)... so I guess it DOES make sense... I just have to claim unknowns. In that sense then maybe I was wrong - it DOES make sense - thanks for the correction and making me think about it. It makes sense entirely that I do not and will not know the how or why we came about. - But does that matter? was my point I suppose. Some who believe the bible seem to fear not knowing if they concede that their book is not accurate - because without the book they have absolutely nothing, the book is the sole basis of and the reason for their faith... if that is wrong then then what do they have left? I am past being scared of not knowing. It doesn't matter that we do not know everything - it's understandable. ... although on further thought it is off topic according to Swans, so I don't think I'll participate further -- shame - I quite like talking to coffeesipin and the others of faith about their beliefs and would like to discuss it more, but don't feel I am allowed to now in this thread. Because science doesn't claim and nor do scientists that science is an all knowing omnipresent being with the super power to interact and change whatever it wants. It isn't the same at all. It hasn't got any sentience to care what happens let alone do anything - it isn't a being.... the god of the bible is supposed to be in charge of the universe and everything - if that was true then why wouldn't he care if his message to the world was understood or not? It would be simple to appear and let the world know what the right way was. Again - we are off topic though - this thread is for discussing coffespin's soon departure and any natural progression of that discussion because of why he thinks this is now off topic apparently according to swans.... so I think I better just find a different site to participate on for the rest of the day... (or get on with my work before I get fired). TTFN.
  18. The thread very quickly went onto the topic of their faiths... it was a natural progression of the topic because he was in trouble for preaching. Whatever - I wont argue with you about it I'll pull out of the conversation if you want me out of it. I don't understand the decision though - it's poor imo.
  19. It was a natural progression of the conversation that the OP started.... if what I said was off topic then the whole thread is. - She pm'd me - it was about the assumed insult of me using the word deluded to describe a believer of the bible as a factual document - nothing about being off topic. I am not sure what other word to use - how do you describe someone who chooses to believe something that goes against the reality that is before them? Deluded. I used to believe it too... I personally don't think that makes me stupid - I was certainly deluded though.... it isn't an insult, just a fact. I will try not to use the word again in the future although I think using these kind of kid glove to protect people's feelings is why we don't discuss important things.... and why we end up with things like brexit and Trump. I've said it before - if you can't discuss these thing for fear of upsetting people then they don't get discussed and people stay deluded.
  20. OK HI - Can you report it to another mod then please as I can't see the problem with it. I am happy for you to explain it to me though here if you wish. Out of line - how so? Does it have to?
  21. ...which is just another book, written by men. Keep the love and the joy. Drop the lies and the delusion. You don't need Dumbo's feather to fly. x.
  22. Except that different Christians sometimes interpret the same verses in different ways. Why would god let that happen if he was real? Where is the holy ghost's guidance in this? Look to your heart - you know it's nonsense - you have been lied to and are lying to yourself. Keep the love - drop the lies and delusion. x
  23. I know I am not supposed to say this in threads (for some reason) but that points to a sock puppet of an older banned account or something then does it not? If they already know a lot about you before you have disclosed that info then maybe they are remembering conversations as other avatars or something. I could be wrong - maybe he found your gender from reading other posts of yours or talking to someone else. I quite like talking to him as it goes.... apart from the departure from reason when he looses a point in the discussion and it just slips back to 'thus sayeth the lord'. I am not sure how to get through to him that you can't just quote the bible in an argument and expect people to take it as fact. I guess that's how he has been trained and conditioned to argue from years of churching... I used to be like it myself.
  24. That's classic delusion though. Everyone believes that when they are Christian and they come up with different interpretations and meanings. If the holy ghost really guided our readings the we wouldn't have dozens of denomination all split and arguing over interpretations of scriptures. It's utter nonsense unfortunately and you have been sucked into it and conditioned to follow it all your life - like I was too once. Because historical evidence supports this whereas the bible has lots of historical evidence showing it to be wrong about much of history and creation. it's in the new testament... but where else? Just because it is written there why should it be true? What evidence is there to support it beyond what is in the book.
  25. Pushed into it because reason and logic weren't supporting your argument...? So, you had to resort to asserting your opinion that the book is the holy word of god and can't be questioned because your arguments fall short otherwise. Without the book you have no argument. You can't win an argument here just by claiming 'what I am saying is true and everything else is a lie because it say so in this old book' without supporting it with real world evidence. Wars and rumours of wars have been about for a long time. Maybe there will be a nuclear war - I hope not, but if there is then that doesn't prove anything in revelations at all. I have to go back to work anyway - have a nice day.
