  1. .............................. Just went to the vending machine to get a coke - as it fell it dislodged a packet of peanuts as well! Result! Free nuts and free box!
  2. Thanks! - It's all true - except for the part about it being my best moment for the day - I'm not that sad! It really is the most boring magazine I've ever had the displeasure of reading - in fact it normally goes straight in the bin if I can't palm it off onto someone else in the factory! Still, free box though! No, no... make it black!
  3. Yea - drop a couple of pellets of dry ice into the liquid so that it bubbles and gives off what appears to be smoke as well! ........................................................................................................................................ NEW POST: Oh joy of joy!!! It's my lucky day! This months packaging magazine/catalogue has just arrived (I keep asking them to take me off of the mailing list, but they don't seem to get the message).... 300 pages of reviews/adds for little boxes, rolls of sellotape and bubble rap! This month hosts their special 10 year anniversary celerbration - and we lucky subscribers get a free flat packed 100ml box!
  4. I think you are missing pretty much missing ALL of ParanoiA's points. I can't be assed to address each one right now.
  5. How about an election for the people of S.Ossetia then? I wonder what result that would throw up?

    My vote

So that settles it then yes?? YT for president by a landslide!
  7. It is very complex and I don't think it is as simple as to say that Russia are completely wrong. We've helped other European countries claim independance in the past with a military presence - this is similar - someone has to make the descision and as Russia are the major player in that area, and S.Ossetia is right on their border - I'd say that it would be their descision and not ours. Just as if there were problems in mexico or peru - it would be up to the states to sort out. Just as when there were problems in Ireland - the Brits sorted it out. Being fair - it's NOT my area of expertise, but this is how I feel about it - it's just my 2 cents. Regards, P.

    Cool Facts

And don't forget the googolplex! 10 to the power of a googol!

    Cool Facts

The QE2 sailed at 6 inches to the gallon! (Sh*t - I just looked this up and apparently it is a myth - at her cruising speed it was 50 foot per gallon. The 6 inches must have been from rest or something)
  10. Just to clarify my position on this, as I see it - Russia is the Lion, Georgia the wet towel and South Ossetia are the testicular appendages.
  11. If it is a coil inside then as you bring the magnet to the box, the lines of flux from the magnetic field of the magnet would cut the coil and cause some current to flow. When the magnet is stationary, then the current would stop. Therefore, I reckon you would get a reading as the magnet approches. Nothing when the magnet stops. Then another reading as you draw the magnet away again, which would drop off rather quickly. (?)

    decent!

Now you are on a distinguished road.

    Mass measurement

Check this out then: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pound_(mass) There is a table on that page defining all the different weights in comparison to the SI. Looks like the troy pound was used for jewellry mainly. WIKI QUOTE: "In 1958 the United States and countries of the Commonwealth of Nations agreed upon common definitions for the pound and the yard. The international avoirdupois pound was defined as exactly 453.59237 grams."
  14. I think your English is exellent! Where are you from?
  15. DrP

    decent!

Is that what the reputation points build to then?
  16. Someone else can probably give a better answer than I, but to take a guess from distant memory (for entertainment value ), I think it has something to do with the shape of the wave as well as the amplitude and wavelength. Like in your example I would guess the AAA has a sharper/squarer wavefront than the softer/rounder OOO. More 'attack' on the AAA. (I stand to be corrected by someone who actually knows something about this! )
  17. This is my sentiment entirely. AND I have respect for those who wish to try rearing a child without the use of physical punishment. However, it's not just a few bleeding hearts that see it as extreame - If things continue the way they are it will soon be totally ilegal to administer even the what seems like the most reasonable of normal parental correction (Like Stevo's example of the cub in danger getting a swat fronm the mother) Spare the rod- - spoil the child was the old saying. ...................................................................................................... I think (and I feel sorry for these people) that in cases where people have suffered in some way (like if they were abused or they have been victims of crime or have lost a child to a road accident) they can't let it go and feel they have to compaign about it untill every thing swings to the opposite extreame. Example 1 - a mother loses here child to a road accident (tragic!) - she then pushes her local council to build unnessassary traffic calming scemes and install speed cameras down her road - then spends half her life standing out side glaring at drivers and shouting at them to slow down hatefully. No-one has the guts to say to her that she's gone too far because they know she must be in pain and they feel sorry for her, BUT, for all her campaining and shouting, people will still get killed in accidents (ACCIDENTS!!! NOT INTENTIONAL KILLINGS!!). Result - all the normal law abiding people who would be driving safely anyway are inconvenienced by shit traffic calming crap and occasionally fined for doing 35 on camera and the real idiots who she should be angry at ignore the traffic calming (treating it as extra fun, like ooh! Chicanes now!!) and continue to **** things up for everyone else. They give her two fingers as they drive by and she gets even more bitter and angry at ALL drivers because she is BLINDED by her own tragedy. Example 2 - A person is abused (Terrible!) - and when older campaigns continuously to make spanking ileagle. If they succeed all they do is stop the law abiding good parents who only administer spanking under the proper good parenting guidlines for spanking (which is harmless). The real child abusers and beaters will carry on abusing because they care sod all for the law anyway. Anyway - sorry for the rant - nearly over. Down our road a drunk teenager stole a car and wrecked a house doing about 80mph. All the old biddies in the village see this as absolute proof that we need trafic calming and speed cameras. BS!!!! The drunk teenager will still nick a car and drive at 80, whilst the rest of us have to put up with the shitty traffic calming. NO-ONE DARE speak out against it otherwise they are obviously criminals themselves that also drivwe at 80 through the village and thus shall be victimised from henceforth. Morons!
  18. Yea, I finally decided against that one too..
  19. There is a lesson to be learned from all of this: Wise man say - "Never flick a sleeping lion in the nads with a wet towel"
  20. Anyone seen this Orangina Ad.? Might be one for the furries?
  21. Am I just being weird or does anyone else find this slightly arousing?? It's Kate Garraway doing a contriversial report on the ethics of drinking milk from another animal.
  22. I think maybe dogs and cats???......and maybe elephants?. I saw a nature program about some massive bull elephant that broke some poor young girly elephants leg after chasing her round for hours. I thought that was akin to rape (and maybe paedophilia) - although it seemed to be encourage by the other older femails in the heard. I was going to type "animal rape" into google to get some more info, but I'm at work and I don't want my network manager to think I'm some kind of weirdo pervert into violent beastianity. I may look it up when I get home.
  23. I think you may be mis-understanding him a little being fair here - He isn't making his daughter cry out of spite or malous - she see's he is disapointed in her and she cry's - that's what children (the best ones) do. There is no need for further punishment because she is a good kid who does what she is told by her father and obeys and tries hard to be in his favour. Not all children are like this though.
  24. She sounds like a really nice child. Your wife seems to disagree with you slightly as she administers physical punishment. ? I think it is probably case dependent. When I was younger, I would rarely get hit at all, a coupe of times when I did I still know I didn't deserve it. Howvever , sometimes I did deserve it or I got away with things through being cleaver that I shouldn't have done. My Brother on the other hand got hit lots. He was more mischeivious and didn't seem to think about getting caught for things, so he got caught more. Sometimes he deserved his punishments, although I think that sometimes Dad went over the top with him. My parents soon worked out that with me, the threat of physlical punishment was a good deterent (I am a bit of a coward), but with my brother, he didn't care so much and would rather get smacked than be sent to his room (he hated being sent to his room as he always wanted to got out to play with his freinds). For me, being sent to my room alone was NO pushiment at all as I spent alot of my time there through choise anyway. Just my personal opinion, but It should be a parental descision, not the government's, as to how ones child is chastised. Obviously there should be (and are) organisations in place to protect victims of abusive behaviour and bad parenting.
  25. Mild Physical Pain will be gone in a couple of minutes. Psycological pain from mental abuse can last for years/ever. Quite. Quite - no-one agrees with child abuse or hurting them, but a small physical shock will work when a child wont listen to reason is perfectly acceptable. ..................................................................................................... Example - a toddler wants to shove a metal fork into the electric socket. Do you: 1) Sit him/her down and explain to him about electricity and how you will get killed if you stick metal into the electrical socket and that you wouldn't want that to happen because you love them. 2) Administer a gental but strong enough to shock tap on the wrist before the fork gets to the socket accomponied with a sharp "NO" for emphasis. 3)Both of these starting with answer two and then proceeding to answer one. ?
