She's almost sure to run, but I'm skeptical she'd do so as an Independent (instead choosing to take the Fascist Autocratic Ridiculous Trump (aka: the FART) head-on in the GOP primary). Time will tell.

As swansont shared, this has nothing to do with being an american and everything to do with being an autocratic power hungry authoritarian with fascist tendencies. Liz Cheney is an American, she lost her primary the day before yesterday, and she admitted it before voting was even fully completed. Gosh and golly. You're so super clever. I guess I bit, too šŸ™„ It seems he's read and studied Hitler quite a bit, too. He also lamented "why can't my generals be more like Hitler's generals" to his White House Chief of Staff and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff while still in office... asking why they weren't "totally loyal" and wouldn't do anything he asked regardless of legality and constitutionality.

I agree. In much the same way, NOT playing golf isn't a sport and NOT collecting stamps isn't a hobby.

Aligns with my initial thoughts last week, so our own personal radars are definitely detecting the same bogeys on this one

Nonsense. He’d show them off to Group A bc he’s an insecure narcissistic braggart then charge Group B money to see them minutes later without any qualms, compunctions, or second thoughts.

It does if you recall the extreme likelihood that he was inviting foreign nationals into his resort along with their phones and cameras to take pictures of it. This isn’t exactly a prospect that strains credulity. It almost certainly happened.

So it did. Please accept my apologies. I’ve obviously made the mistake of conflating this thread with several of your others. Here is the answer I shared:

It was just a question. Usually, starting discussions involves framing the topic and asking for the opinions of others. Or, asking for clarity on topics that aren’t opinion based. Basically, my ā€problemā€ is that your approach doesn’t really lead to discussion since you’re just posting things we can already read elsewhere. That, too, is fine… but preferable if you ask a question or solicit input from others and not just treat it like a data dump, but mostly I asked bc I was curious. On some topics, like those on politics and not hard science, that’s exactly what I think (so long as those opinions are based on reason and evidence and a willingness to change one’s mind when faced with rational counter points). I hope it’s obvious that my view is different on subjects like math and physics. You should work harder to foster the discussion you seem to prize then, instead of copy/pasting definitions and leads from stories (since neither qualifies as investigation, an approach is heartily support were you to use it).

Toucana - You seem to post news snips like you’re trying to be an AP reporter, but rarely frame any discussion. Why?
  10. Failing kidneys will influence just about everything in your life, but it’s a stretch to assume that ejaculating from self-touch leads to a failure in the way our body filters contaminants. You may as well be asking why eating spicy foods leads to volcanic eruptions. Oh, wait…

More likely to me is it was another grift to secure LARGE sums of money in exchange for info, most likely from the Saudis (who have also already given more than $2 Billion to Jared Kushner for extremely questionable reasons) and potentially even Russia. The DoJ tried less severe means first, including a subpoena this spring that Trump and team ignored. Their lack of compliance is a direct reason for the escalation.

  15. Unsure why you don’t feel that’s very specifically an economics and politics problem. I’m not saying we can avoid unpredictable disasters, more that we can stop making the problems worse amd update building codes to support same purpose / fortify against other coming storms (much like California building codes now have requirements to protect homes against wildfires. I’d focus more on desalination, storage, amd transportation of sea water as Israel has been doing for decades. The politics and unwillingness to invest, however, seem to be preventing this.
  16. As studiot pointed out in the OP, this isn’t an engineering or technical problem. Like with climate change, we know exactly what needs to be done to address it, but politics and economics stand in the way.

  18. Like a broken analog clock, I acknowledge that you might every once in awhile be correct, but sadly it will almost certainly be by accident.
  19. Inhaling the byproducts of any combustion (burning) is toxic and/or carcinogenic, so the question really is how much, how does it differ based on the substance being burned, and how do those things map to your personal level of risk tolerance. Keep in mind it’s not just the oil,in your pan, but the heating being applied below it that matter here.
  20. Your mention of A and B and mine of one vs greater than one makes the answer here to the quoted question obvious… With binary! I’m in town all week, folks. Try the schnitzel.

Today while Biden’s passing historic legislation on climate and healthcare, Trump’s passing FBI agents carrying boxes outside his shiny toilet. ———- "It's a sad day in America when a man whose only crime was breaking the law is treated as if he were some kind of criminal." - Paul Campos
  22. Given assertions like this, I trust you’re a massive supporter of Joe Biden and the current congress given that the US economy is right now functionally at full employment. A near century low of unemployment. Let me guess, though… you don’t. šŸ˜‚ I think this may just be even more hilarious the second time. Have you considered doing standup? This is great material! It also completely fails to account for the actual ROI on the investment and the additional costs poverty imposed on others. It’s like a kindergartners version of economics. He may as well be saying scooby do is needed to prevent crime.

  24. As the obvious ā€œlaw and orderā€ party, they clearly only care when they can enforce the law via foreign adversaries hacking email systems. It’s a bit like how so many of them shout about the 2nd amendment being sacred but try to prevent BLM supporters from open carrying.
