  1. A rather sudden exit, over 4 months ago, of a longterm and active member, without any valedictory post - are you okay, Studiot?  I hope you are exploring realms of gold, wherever you are.

I've just reviewed my old PM exchanges with him and he did tell me his family name, although we were on a first-name basis when messaging. People sometimes disappear for a while. I hope he's ok.

Only the Christian name. Needle in a haystack situation?

I was wondering the same thing. Apparently he last logged in on March the 15th.

Let me add my voice to this. Are you ok, Studiot?

  4. Does anyone have any idea what causes the words on my computer to be distorted and smeared across the screen?

That reinforces my impression of a hardware issue.

Sounds like a screen, graphic card etc issue (hardware). I think software not being able to handle ASCII is much less likely. But there are experts here. Why not a thread?

It isn't obvious to me how I came to merit such a great accolade, but thanks to all of you who helped make it happen.

I think it's something or other to do with the volume of your activity. Probably mostly the number of posts.

      I'm glad it's clearing up.

I'm a firm believer that we're all living on borrowed time since day one. So...

As for me, I shouldn't complain, but I do when they give me the chance. ;)

      Ha ha.

I was thinking of a chain...

      Something like this

quote 1: ... something something colours of Nature --Zel'dovich

quote 2: ...colours of nature something something... tree of life --Goethe

quote 3: tree of life something something ... empty skies --Bob Dylan

      For example:

My witness is the empty sky --Jack Keruak

and see if it close in a loop or get broken at a quote that has no equally famous quote mentioning the same concept.

May your branch of the wave function treat you well, MigL.

Or may it collapse to whatever makes you happy.

Oh, I see. If you don't edit quickly, sometimes the software backend seems to parse your latex before you're finished editing and you get all the super and sub-index structure flattened out. It's happened to me before. The longer you spend editing your post, the more likely it is to happen. I don't know why that is. But it's not due to LaTeX-editing rules having changed, AFAICT.

  14. I first got interested in the math of cryptography in 2006. I stated a logarithmic spiral could be manipulated to find a pattern in Prime numbers. Geometrically I couldn’t make it happen. However, I am now reading a book and found that Gauss tried to relate a pattern of Prime numbers logarithmically.

I also read that if you find a pattern in Prime numbers you disprove the Riemann Hypothesis. I don’t know why but for some reason it only works if Prime numbers are random. Then I thought, “what kind of pattern.” You know they say, “One man’s random sequence is another man’s pattern.” And a pattern is in the eye of the beholder.

As I have stated in my “simple yet interesting” post I claim to have proven the Pappy Craylar Hypothesis and in the proof a pattern of Primes can be found. Of course, I completely understand why no one believes me. It sounds simple yet interesting enough, but not believable. If it were true I would have just rendered most encryption useless to claim a million dollar prize. Even to me that sounds unbelievable. Not that my work can actually do that, but I think it is a new way to think of Prime numbers. But I think to find a pattern in Prime numbers Trumps the need for new key generations.

I know ahead of time I will get posts that the Pappy Craylar Conjecture can’t do what I say. I just want people to work it through. To get people to read your work Trumps them laughing at you.

All things considered if there is credibility to my work, I could get it published. That is why I post it; so a cryptographer can try it. Anyone how can do basic algebra and may have some programming knowledge can test it.

So I challenge you to download the PDF.

Interesting. Why don't you make it a thread, as @studiot suggested?

A suggestive appetizer for the Riemann hypothesis and Gauss' musings to himself (he was very secretive about some of his more speculative work):

  15. I spend a lot of time watching youtube videos and I've noticed that some of the less reputable sites are using buzz words to try and get you too watch lately "massive" seems to be the word of choice ie

" Scientists have observed something massive near the Sun" or

" Scientists have observed something massive on the Moon" I am just waiting for "Scientists have observed something massive emerging from Uranus"

Maybe elliptic rather than circular. Plus whether something is a disaster or not could be hyperbolic.
