  1. So is it "Paris in a bottle" or "remake the world" ?
  2. This is turning into an English lesson. I'm voting for closure too.

    Political Humor

Not exactly ha-ha funny, more of amusing funny:
  4. To keep nonsense away from the science sections.
  5. Instead of asserting childish nonsense like the above, why don’t you try asking questions?
  6. There is zero reasoning or proof in your above text. Youre basically explaining God to us like a frustrated parent explains things to a toddler: Kid - Mom, but why do I have to do it ?! Mom - Because I said so. Thats not how reasoning works and youre expected to do better. Why do you bother posting in the first place? In case you havent noticed this is a science forum and if you assert something youre expected to back it up with reasoning - even in the religion section.
  7. One thing for sure, this part of the forum is the only place to post about God.
  8. I agree. Notice that beliefs are never proven wrong, not a single case where a religion or belief has been proven wrong. Do you see the difference now?
  9. I noticed you are conflating theory with belief, there is a significant difference between a scientific theory and religious belief. "A scientific theory is an explanation of an aspect of the natural world that can be repeatedly tested and verified in accordance with the scientific method, using accepted protocols of observation, measurement, and evaluation of results" whereas religious belief stems purely from imagination.
  10. I have to admit that this thought crossed my mind more than once, I have multiple ideas for faith/god/church which would be competitive to Christianity. Unfortunately the monopoly is strong and its not so easy to launch a new religion, the current one is protecting its means of income and they will not give it up. They wont cooperate nor are willing to share the market so I need to find a more realistic means of tax optimisation.

  12. Heres some more „bias” for you to read: https://www.google.pl/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/world/2020/mar/16/not-for-sale-anger-in-germany-at-report-trump-seeking-exclusive-coronavirus-vaccine-deal
  13. The treatment is actually very simple to devise but its much more difficult to implement...a lot of people tend to be immune to knowledge.
  14. Never let a crisis go to waste seems to be the theme behind the scenes all over. Edit: Arent there any laws that could force Trump to sell all his and his family assets and only then let him keep the presidency?
  15. I'm not sure if I understand this correctly but the virtual particles are emitted not from the inside of the BH but from the space very close to the edge of the event horizon which contains fields with values which are not zero so the uncertainty principle is not violated. PM me if you want the whole thing.
  16. Heres a relevant excerpt from Hawkings Brief History of Time: "...However, when I did the calculation, I found, to my surprise and annoyance, that even non-rotating black holes should apparently create and emit particles at a steady rate. At first I thought that this emission indicated that one of the approximations I had used was not valid. I was afraid that if Bekenstein found out about it, he would use it as a further argument to support his ideas about the entropy of black holes, which I still did not like. However, the more I thought about it, the more it seemed that the approximations really ought to hold. But what finally convinced me that the emission was real was that the spectrum of the emitted particles was exactly that which would be emitted by a hot body, and that the black hole was emitting particles at exactly the correct rate to prevent violations of the second law. Since then the calculations have been repeated in a number of different forms by other people. They all confirm that a black hole ought to emit particles and radiation as if it were a hot body with a temperature that depends only on the black hole’s mass: the higher the mass, the lower the temperature."
  17.  Boris Johnson just tested positive. Poor Boris...

But theres a bright side, he will contribute to herd immunity. If he survives that is.

Were fine, I guess. Almost a month of isolation is taking its toll but were healthy and financially secure. In previous weeks we were taking the car once a week and went to remote places for long walks but yesterday they locked everything up with risk of huge fines so thats over. Which is a good thing, I guess. How are things going where you are?

      Lockdown is not as severe.
We can still go for walks or car rides.
And I don't know anyone who is infected - yet.

  18. Intended as a harmless joke, I appologize that it made you feel bad, I assure you, you shouldn’t. Peace.
  19. Good point, some people might actually do that. Like @dimreepr. This is exactly why my eyes were bleeding when I was seeing full playgrounds just this past weekend. Fortunately the quarantine here got tighter since Monday morning but theres still a lot of people who make nothing of this whole thing. One could do an animation the other way around on how much more people get infected when a single person does not comply. And that is what I’m afraid of hence I will practice drawing my bottle.
  20. Calm down, our pharmacist said to administer topically in the mornings and orally in the afternoons (true story, he told us that over skype over drinks this weekend)
  21. I hate to barge in on you like this, I just wanted to say that when I have to leave the house I started to carry a full sized window bottle sprinkler 500ml capacity filled with 70% ethanol. I’m officially living in a g damned scifi novel.
  22. Although I don't understand half of it, I find the technology used to develop the vaccine fascinating: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Molecular_clamp
  23. Somebody please tell me this isn’t for real: "German ministers have reacted angrily following reports US president Donald Trump offered a German medical company “large sums of money” for exclusive rights to a Covid-19 vaccine" First published on Mon 16 Mar 2020 02.56 GMT https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/mar/16/not-for-sale-anger-in-germany-at-report-trump-seeking-exclusive-coronavirus-vaccine-deal
  24. It's the "anyone that objects" vs "anyone who objects" which made me cringe. Nothing significant obviously, but I have to work my way through these things a lot more being a non native. Is "that" acceptable towards a person? Fortunately I understand and I agree I have to agree with your main theme related to time, the other half of your post is towards Michael so I can't say much. As for the see1 and see2 I am sceptical to be polite. We can find that thread, go through it again (I have to admit it was interesting) and then we can find that "truth" where I stood firm that the "truth doesn't care" and you will understand my stance.
