  1. Are these not the same thing? Why is one allowed on this forum, while the other is not?
  2. You don't care when a journalist is murdered, but when a judicial nominee is confronted by a woman with a sexual assault allegation, you lose your shit. Meanwhile Trump doubles down at a political rally that CNN deserved to be attacked by a domestic terrorist. Yet another one of your glaring examples of false equivalence.
  3. Seems like either scenario ends up in the same place.
  4. Warm blood, big brain, cold small. Metabolism. Strategic activity as opposed to instinctive. I'm not sure it's related to intelligence much though, because the brain to body mass ratio of a mouse is about the same as a human.
  5. Because they are the largest creatures on earth. At the highest end of the food chain.
  6. Well, journalists will survive if the 1st Amendment has any teeth. That's not to say the whole fake news hyperbole won't go away though. Roe v Wade... precarious at best. Social Security is on the chopping block. There's overtures of that already. Public schools, maybe not entirely, but definitely undermined. More relaxation of environmental regulations and park status removed, definitely. War... Trump will start one under the pretext Americans never oust a president from a second term. Rallies, yeah more of them. Uglier than one's we've already seen.
  7. Journalists are arrested. Women become incubators for the state. Social security ended. Public schools closed. More tax breaks for corporations. Greater air pollution, lower water quality. War started in a country over something that had nothing to do with it. Racist, raucous rallies every second day, stumping for Trump 2020.
  8. I often wonder how many American felons have taken up the art of trolling or rhetorical extremism in lieu of the ability to vote.
  9. Popcorn Lung "The American Lung Association believes it's imperative that FDA act quickly to require that diacetyl and other harmful chemicals be removed from e-cigarettes." https://www.lung.org/about-us/blog/2016/07/popcorn-lung-risk-ecigs.html
  10. Felons can vote, even while incarcerated.

Yes. The underwater adhesive properties of marine organisms have been developed for medicine. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3104275/
  12. Drift nets especially. They are indiscriminate fishers and lost/abandoned pieces continue to kill long after the fact. That practice has been greatly curbed in recent years and fewer pieces are found on our local beaches. Fishing gear in general generates a lot of pollution. Likewise does their trash. Floats, monofilament, hooked plugs, troll pigs for gear, soap bottles, oil jugs and plastic bags for trash. We've done extensive cleanups in our area during the past few years and the single most plastic trash collected are water bottles. Soft drink bottles are about half that amount. Straws, not so much. Styrofoam is also persistent and very difficult to remove from above the high water mark because of it's tiny size.
  13. Of course, but my point was missed. Nixon knew his goose was cooked and digging in would have caused a constitutional crisis. Trump knows his goose is cooked too, but unlike Nixon, he thinks he can stack the courts with loyalists, then lie his way out of it with the help of a screaming red hatted mob. Seems the only fix for America at this point is a constitutional crisis.
  14. A third party can present issues too, like splitting votes so an even lesser minority could seize power. To prevent this, a third party system in the parliamentary system has the ability coalesce with the other minority to bring down the government in what's called a "non-confidence" motion. It rarely comes to that, insomuch as forces the governments hand to call an election. You guys threw that out in protest when you declared independence. It worked well for centuries, but all that went out the window with Trump, but for a complete lack of decorum and fairness. Fixed terms lead to tyrants and career liars in it solely for the money and perks. Trump is a dictator, not a statesman. Even Nixon had the good sense to step down, for his party and country. Trump is scorched earth. Term limits seem to be gaining traction in America. Third party coalitions are a good way to do that.
  15. The standard of burden of proof does not apply to republicans by republicans. Just democrats. It would just be four more years of "lock her up", despite the absence of evidence. One thing I've noticed though in recent times, Republicans are reluctant to blurt out "communist" at every turn since the former leader of the KGB interfered with the US elections, turning a blind eye to favor a republican candidate. So who's the commie lovers now? Better red than Hillary, apparently. Sad. To boot, the country that attacked America on 911 is now murdering American journalists, yet nary a peep from republicans.
  16. A great problem with plastic in the watercourses is micro-plastic. Tiny particles which may be up-taken by small creatures in the environment. Roads wear. This wear (if plastics are added to pavement) is washed into drains and outfalls as micro-plastic pollution, which at the end of the day doesn't resolve the problem. To be even marginally effective, plastic would have to be melted and mixed with bitumen, which would undoubtedly be more toxic than the tar itself and it's likely to contribute to other problems. Interestingly enough, although I'm speaking of separate toxins, petroleum products are more readily consumed by marine organisms than plastics via naturally occurring enzymes. Sure, there is uptake in lipid cells, but that better than blocked digestive tracts, which will almost certainly give rise to mass moralities.
  17. What Hillary did, pales in comparison to what Trump and his cronies do, two, four, sixfold https://www.nytimes.com/2017/09/25/us/politics/private-email-trump-kushner-bannon.html I think it's a bad idea. Not because she isn't qualified or unable to do a good job, but after all the rancor and acrimony over her character assassination, it would only stir up more derangement by republicans, because (sadly) that's what they thrive upon.
  18. Then why would anyone support a president who overtly threatens breaking the law?
  19. Yet Trump vows to deploy troops at the border to police the country. https://www.washingtonpost.com/video/politics/trump-pledges-to-deploy-military-to-defend-southern-border/2018/04/03/85e21106-375f-11e8-af3c-2123715f78df_video.html?utm_term=.7dde48389921
  20. Canada scrapped the tariff on milk, but Americans still use bovine growth hormones that are banned here. They must include that on the label. Americans can now ship it here, but that doesn't mean we have to buy it. When it comes to milk, most folks buy local. Cheese and other milk products not so much, but I wouldn't buy or ingest any of it anyway. Pretty much anyone else I know feel the same way. I seriously doubt Trump's hissy fit about accessing the Canadian milk market will do anything to improve the American situation other than adding to partisan white noise. No less how America continues to fuck us over on softwood lumber, automobiles, water, hydro electric power, oil and a whole host of other products where hypocrisy looms large. Like socializing the National Hockey League, agriculture and ranching... to name a few of many.
  21. That's right. Although it will need a cable attached to the mainboard, it will display like any other drives. Then just copy the files you need from it. The password is only for windows on that drive, but you're only using the file system, not the operating system.
  22. The tactic is to attack one's attacker, accusing them of doing what one's actually doing, knowing it gets under their skin.
  23. McConnell nixed the Garland appointment without even being heard under the guise of being an election year, then going on FOX news and saying he would appoint a judge in an election year says all you need to know about stacking SCOTUS. For those who would argue the point "we'll see" is not a resounding no like he told Obama. On one hand invokes a non-existent Biden rule, then denies it on the other. It's not possible to be more hypocritical. If that's not hyper-partisan, nothing is.
  24. If worse comes to worse, you could have someone remove and slave the harddrive to another computer to recover the files, then re-format and reninstall Windows.
