Big toenail got grown in and infected, base of the nail came loose. Gave it a hard yank, but the nail was still firmly attached from about halfway up to the distal end. Totally ripped off. I've never seen a toe bleed so much before. One of my worst mistakes ever. I don't think I've ever felt such excruciating pain before.

Its astonishing that smart people refrain from seeing a doctor. Few weeks ago our sons paediatritian got a stroke and she refused to go to the hospital, only after a night has passed and she woke up with a dropped eye and half of her face she went. Her husband (a musician) was furious but he couldnt convince her (shes 72 years old) Fortunately it was a mild stroke and she seems fine.
