Two emaciated men jump out of a ship onto a beach. One simply walks away. The other goes into a nearby restaurant and orders seagull. He takes one bite, and then commits suicide. Why? You may ask yes or no questions, I may answer yes, no, irrelevant, or pretty much whatever I please . If you have heard this before, please, don't answer for others. -Uncool-

I made up this new card game and the first version goes like this. You get a deck of cards and remove the jacks, queens, and kings. Now you have Aces and 2 to 10. Aces are worth 1 and the numbers are worth themselves. Shuffle the cards and pick 5 cards. Now with those five cards, make an equation. You can use + - x / ( ) powers and roots. For example, if you picked up 9,5,1,2,7 you could make the equation (1*9+5)/2 = 7 If you picked up 9,5,6,3,3 you could make the equation 3*3^(6-5) = 9 The game gets harder--for me at least-- with the face cards in them. It's even harder (perhaps impossible) with some sets of 4 cards. But all the 5 card sets I've drawn can be…

Hi folks. there's a scavenger hunt going on in my neck of the woods and the joker running it has posted the location as a set of encrypted numbers within a chem problem. I don't remember how to do this from High School chem long ago, but I thought I'd throw it out to you all for some help. I need to know the pH and pOH values of these two solutions: "5.0991 mg barium hydroxide octahydrate in 4.6 liters of water. 0.19825 g dihydrogen sulfate (aka sulfuric acid) in 374 ml of water. (both are separate, and at 25 degrees C with nothing else present, assume no change of volume/temperature etc)" -----------------

  7. If you light a match in zero gravity which direction will the flame head (as in on earth it heads upwards)? Or even better if anyone knows or even has a picture. My mind say a sphere but that also doesn't make sense because of convection. Blah. Admin delete this if its too daft a question, I would love to see it though.

Ok I can figure this out the hard way using substitutions, but who can come up with a super quick way to do it. Simple enough for a nine year old to comprendo. Two jars both exactly the same. One bag of beans. You tip four fifths of the beans into the first jar. You tip the remaining fifth into the second jar One jar- bean combo weighs 50 g and the other jar-bean combo weighs 20 g… Question…how much does one of jars alone weigh? Show your reasoning

    Here's a simple puzzle that's like one that I did in gd class. Notice I said "like", so I hope the answer i got is the correct one. -------------------- | | | | | |o| | | | | | -------------------- |x| | | | | | |x| | | | -------------------- | | |x| | |x| | | |x| | -------------------- | | | | | | | | |x|x|x| -------------------- |x|x|x| | | | | | | | | -------------------- I really hope this shows up to look sort of like a checkerboard. Anywho...rules...you start at the "o" and you may move only straight down or diagonally down at any one time. You cannot land on the "x" s but you may jump them (again, only straight down or diagonally down). The q…

this is one my calc teacher used as a bonus question for his algebra students and had me solve for him so he had something to grade by. im betting it will take this forum all of about 5 secs, but i dont have any better ones : P s s _ _ s_|_|_|_ |_|_|_|_| s |_|_| grid shaped like above (only with straight lines : P) put in the numbers 1-8 in such a way that no two consecutive numbers are touching at either a side or a corner. so: s_ _ |8|7| and s_ |7| _ s s |8| are both bad. edit: ok... so would someone like to tell me how to make the spaces actually show up? i dont need to make a picture do i? for the meantime S=space

Lawyer and a blonde are sitting next to each other on a long flight from LA to NY.The lawyer leans over to her and asks if she would like to play a fun game. The blonde just wants to take a nap, so she politely declines and rolls over to the window to catch a few winks. The lawyer persists and explains that the game is really easy and a lot of fun. He explains" I ask you a question, and if you don't know the answer, you pay me $5, and vice-versa." Again, she politely declines and tries to get some sleep. The lawyer, now somewhat agitated, says, "Okay, if you don't know the answer you pay me $5, and if I don't know the answer, I will pay you $500!." Figuring…
