Callipygous
this is one my calc teacher used as a bonus question for his algebra students and had me solve for him so he had something to grade by. im betting it will take this forum all of about 5 secs, but i dont have any better ones : P s s _ _ s_|_|_|_ |_|_|_|_| s |_|_| grid shaped like above (only with straight lines : P) put in the numbers 1-8 in such a way that no two consecutive numbers are touching at either a side or a corner. so: s_ _ |8|7| and s_ |7| _ s s |8| are both bad. edit: ok... so would someone like to tell me how to make the spaces actually show up? i dont need to make a picture do i? for the meantime S=space
Ducky Havok
I'm just going to go in order across from the top: 3,7 2nd row: 8, 1, 9, 2 3rd row:6,4. That's what I got from your picture at least.

Martin
edit: ok... so would someone like to tell me how to make the spaces actually show up? i dont need to make a picture do i? for the meantime S=space there is the format called "code" where you write things between [c0de] and [/c0de] but spell it with letter o instead of 0 then it respects the spaces you type, or seems to, more or less. you can make tables of data that way, and type computer code where you want to indent some definite numbr of spaces _ _ _|_|_|_ |_|_|_|_| |_|_| you can press "quote" button to see how this was managed, as if you were going to reply, and it will show what I typed
calbiterol
I tried this twice and had it. If you think about it, 1 and 8 only have to worry about being next to 1 nuber each, so put them in the middle. All the rest, just put somewhere, going down starting with 7 and up starting with 2 (at the same time), making sure none touch. Or at least, that's how I did it. This gave me | |4|6| | |7|1|8|2| | |3|5| |
