What do they use to make the plastic orthodontic retainers that one must wear after having their braces removed. I'm looking for a brand name of the plastic they use. I know it's a fairly quick process so i believe that the plastic starts as a liquid and maybe a hardner is added to make it plastic. I really just want to know if there is such thing as a liquid plastic which i could buy to make custom housing for my electronics projects. I dont want to buy expensive machines and stuff since i would only be making one or 2 molds a year.

Many people are taught differnt ways to stop their nose from bleeding. My fiances father is really big into chinese medicine and martial arts. One remedy he says is to pinch the Index finger on your left hand. I have done many of google searches to try and back up his therory but have come up empty. He says the way it works is the blood flows from your finger to your nose and by pinching that finger it restricts bloodflow to the nose and stops the bleeding faster. Can this be scientifically proven or disproven?

Of all the science topics in here im suprised not to see Forensics as on of them. Why is this? I wanted to take a forensic science class in high school but they said i had to be in a law major to take it. (I went to a tech school) As a person who like to collect spy tools i think we should talk about some of the techniques used to catch criminals. It would be fun to try and figure out who left the Milk out on the table. You know how it get left out sometimes and all the kids say it wasnt me and you wife say nope i didnt do it. Well i think we need to talk about way we could track down the criminal who put the penut butter in the fridge and left the jelly on the …

I've been assigned for a school thing to find out what hydrofluoric acid can be contained in and why. I've found that it can be contained in polyethylene containers, now I just need to find why. I haven't been able to do so yet. Does anyone know the reason for this? Also, it can't be contained in glass containers because it is one of the things used to etch glass, I need to know why this is as well.

I just added a "MS Word" style editor so that formatting your posts isn't such a pain in the rear. Here is how to enable it: Step 1: Navigate to your UserCP Step 2: Go to the options tab Step 3: Scroll down and click "Yes" to enable the editor Step 4: Submit Modifications to accept that blike rules I will add this to the 'quick reply' box later today. If you can't get it to work properly, PM me and I'll try and help you out.

Hello all I am planning at my chemistry project to build a toy car which runs on water, or actually hydrogen gauss. My idea was to add water in a container an create hydrogen gauss from the water by electrolyte with the help from the solar cell or small solar panell. Now I have searched every site on the net trying to find some sort of a manual that can show me how I can build these to key parts, but i found none. Ive heard you can build an easy solar panel by heating a flat cobber plate and such, but this sort of a panel brings you very little energy (rumors once again). I was wondering if you guys could help me at this. How do I buid a fuel cell and a solar panel? …

This thread is to go hand in hand with the recycle poll also. It`s not only good for the environment but for you`re cashflow too Lets look at ordinary batteries, use them once then throw them away, it would be neat if we could recharge them! but the warnings on the side say "do not recharge or disspose of in fire" blah blah... well interestingly enough, the batteries we make here for Export only mention the bit about throwing them on a fire, nothing about recharging them! here`s what they DON`T want you know... you CAN recharge them, in fact in Japan you can by chargers for ordinary zinc/carbon batteries and alkaline batteries! ok granted they are not ordinary D…

I think that there is a good reason for the pyramids to have been found in loose sand in a dessert. loose sand is easy to dig. The easy way to build a pyramid is to dig a huge hole in the sand. Slide the giant stones down the slope, and make the base. Ok so that sounds like a huge hole. You are right. But it is far easier to dig the huge hole, than it is to lift the stones to the top of the pyramid. After the first level of stones have been placed, you fill around them with sand. This allows the second level to slide down the slope, and easily slide on top of the first level. You keep doing this until the top stone is at ground level. There may be a slight upward slope to…

Hallow`en 2moro = here`s a few neat ideas for the night and not all require a detailed chem knowledge Instead of using ordinary candles, why not make things a little different and have Green Fire! you`ll need a spirit burner (no pun intended), some methylated spirits (not alcy ghosts!) and some Boric acid (not Boris). in a heat proof glass jar pour in 250ml of meths and then add 3 teaspoons of boric acid powder, put a loosely fitting lid on top and place the jar in a bowl of boiling hot water, stir occasionaly until all the boric acid powder dissolves. let it cool an then either store it or pour it into your spirit burner, instead of candle yellow, or meths lig…

I have another project for science. I have a few unanswered questions as well. The object of this is to find a "Practical and easy ethical method of calculating longitude to the nearest 30 minuts!" Does anyone know of an easy way to find longitude?: •Does anyone know much about the lunar distance method? •What are some instruments that I can build to calculate longitude? •How can I use the instruments? I am open to many ideas of calculating longitude, but please do not recomend rebuilding H4 .
