Ok, this question isn't too terribly scientific, but I guess it might be... I couldn't find any documented evidence on how being hungry at an given moment might disrupt they way you think, to the effect of not being able to focus, making simple mistakes, etc. I think perhaps my making stupid mistakes on math tests could have to do with the fact that it is right before lunch, and I'm often pretty hungry. I figured I'd have a better chance of getting my schedule switched a bit if I had evidence....so, thanks in advance.

I have a question about Inertia. You know how when you drop a peice of toast, it lands buttered-side facing upwards? And when cats jump from like high ledges and heights, they always land on their feet? Well, I was wondering: If I was to stick a peice of toast (butter-side up) to the side of a cat, and hurl it off a 9floor balcony from a hotel, would the cat rotate rapidly and propel itself upwards into the air (thus causing inertia), and then these buttered cats would become another form of transporation? Let me know what you think

A freind wants me to ask this.... He was told by a freind who works inthe science field that the fifth dimension is created by lightning. Lightning traveling in a straight line would reach the ground in the same time it takes a bolt traveling in the well-know, less than direct routes. If the lightning traveling in a straight line travels at the speed of light, the one not traveling in a straight line would have to exceed the universal speed limit, thus requiring a new "fifth" dimension. I have never heard this but my friend is pretty sure. I am looking for any quick posts that could help us out.

Well, i have read about this issue in the NEWSWEEK magazine and wish to hear everyone's views about it. Basically it was a question of about REligion or faith is able to heal us. Well, one amazing fact that researchers have found out was that those who when to church more often had a lower mortality rate; which means they live a longer live. the stastics are as shows, Those who never go church at all : lifespan 72 years Those who go to church once a week : lifespan 80 years Those more than a week: lifespan 82 years Well, i think these are pretty interesting stastics. However religion or faith does not cure cancer or other illness that is what they found out. Yet a…

One night, i slept beside my mum but i couldn't get to sleep. Her snores were simply too loud! I told my mum the next day that she snored really loudly and she said she have no idea that she snores. Then, she asked me a real good question: Why do people snore?

Feel free to add to this list (continuing my numbers) 1) Outrageous claims require outrageous evidence. 2) Google can answer many of your non-discussion related questions 3) If you google for a claim made by someone and can only come up with sites like zetatalk, consider the claimee braindead.

cool, well i thought this article from Chemical and Engineering News was well-timed seeing as there was a raging debate about glass just a fews days ago on this forum. It does not really answer any of the issues that were brought up in the course of the discussion, so i didn't post it in that thread. But it does have some interesting facts about glass, how it is made, it hisotry, ect. I thought it was kinda cool, so i figured i would share it with y'all. Enjoy http://pubs.acs.org/cen/whatstuff/stuff/8147glass.html

After a few weeks, i would forget the facts that i have learnt and most of the time can hardly recall them. So, can anyone give me some tips to improve my memory? THanks

I hang out at the R/C heli fourms and many of us think that the price of Heli fuel is way to high. Can anyone here give me and them a way to homebrew some fuel for our R/C heli's for a lower cost. Right now i think its going for about 10 to 30 dollars a gallon depending which country you live in.

Hello, I teach 6ht grade science in a small southeastern Illinois community. My students wanted me to post a question and see what kind of responses we could get. In our science class we cover such topics as cells, atoms, physical and chemical properties, simple machines, and the scientific method. They were wondering is this is typical of all 6th grade science. If not, what kind on topics do you cover in your 6th grade science classes? They would be happy to get as many responses as possible. Thanks

I want to make a smoke bomb housed in a cylider about 12 inches long and i want it to give off alot of smoke in differnt colors. How do you do this? Why you ask! Because i want to attach one to each side of my skids on my R/C heli. Now comes my second question: How could i use electricity to ignite them. I want to set them off in mid flight so i figured i buy a remote keychain kit from my local electronics store. What would i have to do to get this keychain kit or any remote control to ignite the smoke bombs(which arnt really bombs because i wont be droping them) Smoke makes for a good effect on a crowd. If you set off alot of smoke and start spiriling…

having recently taken over a garden allotment in an area that has many breakins and vandalism, I began to worry about my shed as I keep all sorts of brand new gardening tools and a radio (to listen to the sports) and few heaters etc.. basicly stuff I don`t want want ripped off by some a$$hole trying to support a drug habit! here`s what I came up with, it`s based around a Claymore Mine, but obviously of a non lethal sort, as I don`t want to thrown of the property for breaking the law. you`ll need a boot polish tin. pit a small hole in the base of it, big enough to fit a screw through... hold that thought, I`ve just had a txt msg, I MUST go, sick animal to fix I`…

I have read that if a large amount of 100% oxygen is inhaled it can be dangerous (oxygen poison). I have also read that in an experiment participants that inhaled pure oxygen for 1 minute prior to reading a list of words remembered more words than participants that breathed regular air. So my question to you all is can the inhalation of oxygen increase a body and mind's performance? and if so why is it not used by athletes or during learning? after all it only hurts you if you inhale too much I was just wondering, if you know anything about the topic please post. thanx

I have only been teaching for three years and wanted your opinions on President Bush's "No Child Left Behind" program that he has started. I feel this program is setting teacher's up to fail at their jobs. They want scores to continually get better each year or your school gets penalized and does not get funded as well. To me, it seems that the schools that need the most money are those who are in trouble. If they get more money, then the schools can get more programs like Title 1 to help students who are struggling. Am I just looking at this wrong? Please if someone could explain this new program to me I would be grateful.

How are you able to integrate writing into your math or science lesson? My students are going to have to write on next year's state standardized test and I would like to help get them more practice. I am not good at writing personally, but would like my 6th grade students to have more practice. I am looking for ideas at ways to put writing into some of my lessons. I would be grateful for any help on this topic. Thanks

I didn't know if this would go under Computer science or Mathematics...Oh well... Ok, you all know that the Ohms Law states Ohms=Volts/Amps; Amps= Volts/Ohms; and Volts= Ohms*Amps... Well, say one tries to run 5v through a wire with 0a...What would the Ohms be?...General Mathematics would say it is not possible, seeing how one cannot divide by zero, seeing how zero times anything is zero...With zero itself as an exception...Well, me and a friend have come up with that since the current of the wire is zero, than the resistance, (Ohms) must be indefinite, absolute, and furthermore, infinite...Thus, V/0, seeing how the number of volts is irrelevant, would equal infin…

I was once told that glass is not a solid but is a liquid. Is this true? I was told that that is the reason the large skyscrapers filled with glass windoes have to flip the glass 180 degrees because the gravity causes the glass to taper leaving the top side more narrow over time.
