I am smart enough to know it's some sort of Lily, a relative of the Calla Lily I would say, but I have no idea what kind. The bloom is huge on it, probably over a foot long and a deep purple. The leaves are very large and very few, I think there are like five on it. The plant is in the yard of a vacant house that I do yard work for and the owner is long gone and I have no one else I can ask that knows plants.

man has noticed at molecular-quantum level of observation he cannot look with out changing what he is inteligently and cooly looking at ..same as when he looks at a woman ..artifical inteligents is also ..cool and changes when its looked at ..when a scientist is anylising the quantum world on the results of a massive particle collider and ever time he observes it changes no matter how many times he looks as he cannot know the position is he knows the mass and viser verser ..he eventualy looses his cool and is frustrated because some how at the other end of the equation is an inteligents which will not observe requireing him to do all the work and he cant get something for…

if you dont have any resistence when opperating large forces like millions of volts and amperages in a collider like set up looking for something of course it will blow up especialy if there is no time left and nothing there ..of course you need to turn the power down to regain real time as man sees it ..the hysterics are thrown out the window .the is no latent' time left .yuo momentarily cross over to where there is no time and no gluons either so you were only aiming a gun at nothing and it expended it self for nothing ..the swiss partical collider was on the brink of a 'time-warp ' because the unverse is confined to such phenomina you cant just keep on adding power bi…

man has destroyed the refractive incidence index of the earth's capability of hiding it self from the harmfull effects of gama and suns rays and will not allow any one to stop him by pollution of the atmosphere and changing the vegetation of the earth ..just as man is capable of now making his military equipement invisible from light by refraction of the light rays around the object in question man has dstroyed any possibility of ever reproducing the refractive requirement of the earth to remain hiden from the sun and now is heating up the earth because now the earth is reflecting light instead of refracting it around us .by pollution and destruction of the intertwinement…

"Since the General Theory of Relativity implies the representation of physical reality by a continuous field, the concept of particles or material points cannot play a fundamental part. The particle can only appear as a limited region in space in which the field strength or the energy density is particularly high." - Albert Einstein, IDEAS & OPINIONS, p. 348 Having One's Tea While Spilling It Also, continued: 'Obviously the universe is not made up of a bunch of disturbed areas. Because, if it was, by now it would have *spread indefinitely.' - J.W.N Sullivan (THE LIMITATIONS OF SCIENCE) and G.P. Thompson (A *tensor equation - *4th coordinate; of…

We all know about the lock ness monster. Well I think it is a bunch of Bull S-- However The only thing I can come up with is It might be a Large Sturgeeon. I say this because I caught one about 4 foot long in the St. lawrance Seeway back in 1995,> It is a bottom feeder, and they look like a Carp, Sucker,A Taranasouras, and a Crocidile all in one. Other than that, Its folk loor. What do you think?

For those interested, a summary of the Haiti earthquake via USGS: Magnitude 7.0 Depth 13 km Located on the boundary between the Caribbean Plate and North-American Plate (left-lateral strike-slip). This boundary accomodates 20 mm/y movement. Earthquake mechanism was a left-lateral strike-slip fault on the Enriquillo-Plantain Garden fault system (7 mm/y movement). There is a nice poster with some maps here. Off-topic; Is this place likely to get an Earth-Sciences sub-forum anytime soon?

Say one were able to create a network of carbon nanotubes(like pipes) and fill said network with a 'fluid' of protons. Would this be able to be used as a sort of alternative to normal electricity? Would there be any practical purposes for doing such a thing? The only thing I could think of off the top of my head would be a possible use in creating extremely small computer chips. The carbon tubes could act as the insulation on wires and the protons could act like the conductor and charge carriers. But then again, this could be just my overactive imagination. It might make a good tech for scifi, though. Merged post follows: Consecutive posts mergedThe problem of…

Hiya! I'm writing a term paper on "Revolutionary Road", a novel by Richard Yates. It mainly deals with the American Spirit and the question whether it still exists or not. Now I'd really like to know what you think... I'm from Germany so I can't really tell if there is an American spirit today. Do you think there is? What I'm talking of is a unifying spirit, a spirit that makes you feel American. It may be about rebelling against the government (that's what it used to be like during the Revolutionary War) but it may have changed, of course... Please let me know what you think! I'd really like my final conclusion to be based on your opinions! Thanks a lot! =) …

I was studying psychology and really found it disappointing. Most of the basis for psychology was from drug addicted sexist men like Freud or biased as many of the older psycho analyst did not know the proper population selection. Psychology seems to take a one size fits all kind of approach. As I would read the development of child hood and adolescence I keep thinking to my self I don't relate at all to what this book is saying. Piaget says that you move up from one stage to another and cannot move on until that stage is completed. Almost instantly I would disagree and say that different children will grasp different concepts of logic at different times and rates. Not to…

Hi folks. A bit of shameless self-promotion here, but I hope you'll find that it's worth it. I just finished an interview with Daniel Everett, a linguist with Illinois State University who has attracted a storm of controversy with this theory of language that contradicts Chomsky's Universal Language. The implications are profound for cognitive science, and for defining what makes us human. Machines Like Us interviews Daniel Everett I'd also like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a prosperous new year. All the best, Norm Nason

I know many scientist do not believe anti-gravity is possible. I just wanted to know what you folks thought of this. Do you think they are really talking about anti-gravity, or using strong magnetic fields to 'levitate' the craft? http://www.cnn.com/2003/TECH/09/05/wow.tech.black.world/index.html "(CNN) -- What ground-breaking new technology is kept so secret by the authorities that even to comment on its existence would be to reveal too much? Welcome to black world technology -- the discrepancy in the defense budgets no-one can explain, and the programs which politicians and officials have the right to deny even exist. Yet it is big business, not j…

Just wondering, why is there no Earth Science forum here? I would have thought it was a big enough science to have its own forum... Perhaps a nano science one as well. Does anyone know of any online nano texts? I would like to study it. I live in a small town with no access to Nanoscience textbooks or resources. In the meantime, perhaps someone could answer a question that has been bothering me for a while: Can Nanoscience/technology be developed in the home? Or does it require large/expensive machines. How exactly are nano things made? I would love to be able to make my own nano things... is this realistic (assuming a learn a little more …

I am posting this here because honestly I don't know exactly where this falls. Lets say, I have an electric current traveling through the air. In what ways could I negate this current without turning it off at the source? Perhaps I just wanted to create a bubble if you will around me (assuming i am standing in the path of this current) where the current has to pass around me.. How could I do this? oh.. I should mention that I do not want to do this with a physical object.. but with a force of some kind.

Why is Tallahassee, Florida much colder than Haifa, Israel although Haifa is in an higher latitude (closer to the north pole) than Tallahassee? Tallhassee is in latitude 30° 30' and Haifa is in latitude 32° 50' but still Tallhassee is much cooler than Haifa in winter. In December and January, the average high temperature in Tallhassee is 64 °F (18 °C) and the average low is 42 °F (6 °C). On occasion, temperatures fall into the 20s and 10s at night, and temperatures in the single digits have been recorded. Tallahassee recorded the state's lowest temperature of -2 °F (-20 °C), on February 13, 1899. Over the last 100 years, the city has also recorded several snowfalls; t…

This seems like a forum where I may be able to find the answer to the question that has been bothering beer drinkers for years. Can any one help explain the science behind this situation? Often times in Maine, intentionally or not, we leave a can or bottle or two of our favorite beverage in our trucks, sheds, garages, etc. This works out very well when the weather is just above freezing and we later find a perfectly chilled beverage. However, since there is currently no BEER STORAGE ADVISORY publically broadcast over all media sources, sometimes the weather drops well below freezing and we find ourselves in trouble. An experienced beer drinker will exercise cautio…

I just saw a show found on You Tube called The Elegant Universe. What is interesting to me is that it bring to fore the fact that Science in itself is very subjective. No matter how many experiments you do to 'prove' your theories nothing is set in stone and are not truly "facts" of science in the light of new information. It can be said that Science itself is only a philosophy - only one way at looking at and finding answers to problems. It's all Theory, and at times experiments do seem to prove a theories validity yet in the face of new information those theories seem to crumble. So how can anything in science really ever be taken as fact? I will give you …
