Suggestions, Comments and Support

How about we make an official thread where we can post interesting and stories. Like short stories and/or books. It would be also nice for authors looking for scientific advice, and help. Stories could be: adventure, allegory, anecdote, apologue, article, autobiography, beat, biography, book, chestnut, chronicle, cliffhanger, clothesline, comedy, conte, description, drama, epic, fable, fairy tale, fantasy, feature, fiction, folktale, gag, history, legend, memoir, myth, narration, narrative, news, news item, non-fiction, novel, old saw, parable, potboiler, recital, record, relation, report, romance, saga, scoop, sequel, serial, spiel, tale, tragedy, version, yarn …

Is looks some sort of useless to just say i agree or disagree in the threads... because it is not a pool.... what sense has to say i disagree someone already disagreed firts... Or, how am i going to know that this guy, is the one i want to debate to. What i suggest is to say something like i agree / disagreee and a brief why. " I disagree because it's against with x law that states the contrary"

Occasionally i get the message shown below. it doesnt last for long (about 5 mins) but this is not the first time this has happened. i think that this site is getting ever more popular and there is an increase in traffic. maybe a bandwidth upgrade is in order. obviously it costs money, but just something to monitor.

Hey, would it be possible to have a sorta one hit wonder thread for people who have questions that are not thread worthy but are looking for a quick awnser. I myself, and several i know of often have many question of which i have and cannot awnser myself but dont feel are thread worthy. would this work?

Why does this forum thank me for doing things? It's weird. "Thank you for logging in..." It used to thank me for posting as well.

I did not see this idea brought up yet so, I was wondering if it would be possible to insert a spell checker on the site? You can learn alot from a spell checker.

I was wondering what people's suggestions might be for things we could do for our 100,000th post celebrations? Please don't reply with things like "parteh!!!!111" etc, because they're annoying. I was thinking something along the lines of an alternate colour scheme/style or some major site improvement, etc.

How about a new forum for showing experiments (mainly safe ones ) that we can do at home?? Like I recently found out laser pointers can be used to create holograms with. Or how you can cook a CD in a microwave oven and get a nice effect. Or ideas for ways to use things other than their original purpose.. Like when you shine a laser pointer through a bottle of Coke/Pepsi it lights up the contents. Or how you can shine the laser dot onto a surface to mark it without actually marking it, not that I do much DIY though. And why can't the posters ID show their sex too?? It drives me mad having to refer to people as s/he or him/her.

Just a little thing, in the brainteasers section description it says "excercise", it's spelt exercise

I've noticed several references to science fiction on various threads. Many people develop an interest in science after first reading science fiction. Why not have a section of the forum devoted to it? It surely is as relevant as a section on politics. Any supporters? Decriers? Edit: Oops! I see Skye proposed this back in June. I haven't had a chance to read all the thread yet, so I'm not clear what the conlcusion was. Regardless, I still think it is a good idea.

Hi, I want to discuss the part of forum that is about Religion. People talk over there in humiliating way about one another’s religion. Everyone considers himself to be right. In fact the religion is something very personal to everyone. So everyone should respect it. Over here such a topic just raise “HATRED”. If someone really wants to discuss this he/she should go to the sites where there are scholars, who know every bit about every topic. ok ive not been able to get on this for about a week now why

i think that poll results should be able to be changed by the user involved. i know that admins/mods have powers to change someones vote. this seems a little unfair as a biased result could happen, but i think i trust the admin/mod team not to do that... however i think that users should be able to edit their own poll result, as they may change their view whilsts reading through the thread and may just make a general mistake or mis-read something.

Is the web site with a bit fault? Recently, I found that after I had posted my thread, it was not shown at the index. ...................................

Have questions that require some thought, not just simple trivia. i.e. Karen likes 400 but not 300; she likes 625 but not 624; she likes 121 but not 122. Does she like 2500 or 2400? 2500 (perfect squares) Highlight line above for answer.

What about including general board statistics. Showing a graph of total posts over time, having monthly post averages and random quotes. Link of the month, most posts per month, biggest BS artist of the month etc. Just an idea...

I, and countless other posters in the Mathematics forums would greatly appreciate it if there were a "Wrap [math] tags around selected text" button in the Message Editor Interface window, similar to those for the "Bubble" and "bold" tags, for it would allow equations to be typed much more easily.
