my buddy picked yet another forum to try and use on our website. we got it installed but when we try to go to http://www.OURDOMAIN.com/forum(not our actual domain name, the link takes you elsewhere) it gives this : Home | Profile | Register | Active Topics | Members | Search | FAQ ADODB.Field error '800a0bcd' Either BOF or EOF is True, or the current record has been deleted. Requested operation requires a current record. /forum/default.asp, line 91 with the top line being buttons which actually do work for the most part. if you go to register and fill out the form it gives this: Home | Profile | Register | Active Topics | Members | S…

I've finnally succumed and am downloading MiKTeX (TeX for Windows), and it occured to me that I'm going to need a TeX editor. Does anyone know of a good TeX editor for Windows? Preferably one that can preview on demand without too much hassle. Basically I'm looking for WinEdit but free.

This could be a an extremely complex question to answer so I guess I will narrow my curiosity in hopes to eventually piece bits of information together to ultimately understand circuitry and more specifically computer circuitry. I know how a Hard Drive works. It consists of a band of thin magnetic metal tightly wound into a condensed coil. Then data is stored by arranging the electrons. +1 = Proton and 0 = Neutron. So I grasp the general idea of how you store information onto this coil of magnet. I think the electrons are manipulated with electric impulses so that they remain aligned on the magnetic strip for recall later. I think you then write a very complex code t…

I read in Newsweek a few months back that it tested a 10Ghz processor chip and it was successful. To me, I don't think AMD will be able to compete with Intel for much longer. What does everyone think?

I'm considering installing Linux on my desktop computer at the moment--Ubuntu if possible. Now, the question is, what will I get out of it that XP doesn't have? I have a few pros from the LiveCD already: Lower memory usage--I was using 1/2 as much as WinXP. sudo apt-get update vs. going to various websites to find if my software has a security hole and needs to be updated. Security (though getting WPA set up may be annoying...) Free (duh!) I'd just like to know what else is worth getting, to see if I should back up and install or just stick with toying with the LiveCD. Remember that this computer will also be used by "laymen," as you could call them,…

Hello! I wanted to create a website to publically host all of my original essays and writings which until now have scattered all over USENET and forums all over the internet. However, I dont know what I'm doing, or even how to get started (and while this is just an experiment for me where I'm not sure how serious I plan to get, I'm not willing to pay anyone to build a website for me). I learned a little about computers by necessity, but after typing and some experience with MSExcel visual basic, I'm computer illiterate. Could you nerds help me out? And please, if you do, go very slow

Right I have inserted a calendar control into a form, but dont really have any idea how to use it. I googled around for ages but couldnt find anything. Right so what I need it to do is; a) Dates to change colour after a certain event b) Events to occur when you click on a particular date c) Hovering over a particular date shows a box with certain data in. I dont know how to set the actions for individual dates, all the options it gives me if a double click on it in is "gotfocus" for the whole calendar Once I know how to tie a particular action to a particular date (and vice versa) I should be ok. Thankyou Ed

I just have a quick question. I have a 256 mb sd card for my pda, and for some reason, it did not detect it yesterday. In addition to that, sometimes I would lose data although it would still say it was taken up even though I could not find it in the sd card folders. Can sd cards go bad after a certain period of time? I hope so, cause otherwise, my pda card slot is bad. And I don't feel like paying for a new one, or a repair job on it.

What do you think about an open system and a closed system a.k.a. a PC and a Console, and which would you prefer to develop on? I personally think that closed system would be best as there would be no compatibility issues and since the OS footprint is so small as compared to a PC so all resources can be dedicated to the application ie game. And due to the nature of a closed system, better looking game (graphics, textures, AA, effects) can be made as compared to games on PC that have a higher system requirement.

The playstation Portable is like a small laptop, with a 333 MHz processor and 4MB of DRAM, its not exactly a monster, but its nothing a little overclocking can't fix. . That was the question in main, I was wondering if you could actually overclock the system. And while I have the time, might as well ask about an operating system similar to windows, or mac that enables the user to type up word documents, the possibilities are endless, with its WLAN, you could hack systems. The portable gaming device has so much potential...from hacking weaponry to office works...I was wondering what the forum thought about this, and if anyone knows about any projects going on around the P…

I was just wondering if I were to be able to play downloaded movies on my dvd player if I were to convert the files into .mp4 format? However, the thing is, I only have a cd burner, not a dvd burner, so could I play the .mp4 files even if they're on a cd-r/cd-rw? And yes, my dvd player can play cd-r's but they've only been music cd's, and any .avi files that I have burned onto the cd-r's won't play on the dvd player. So will .mp4 work?

Ok, just the other day I bought a scandisk brand mp3 player, called a sansa, with one gig of memory. The brand gave me an idea, scandisk makes sd cards right? so logically, they would use those same sd cards in their mp3 player? so wouldn't it be possible to simply open it up and upgrade the card to a 2 gig from the one gig? Just wanna run this past you guys before I go through with it. (I hope I put this in the right section)

When I was searching for another web site using Google, I found this link: http://140.116.246.95/Squid-log/logs/ny.sanitized-access.20040418.gz Does anybody have any idea what this huge file is? I would guess that this is a major security leak by an Internet Service Provider. If so, should someone e-mail them and tell them that Google has found their log and listed it in their search engine?

I have just FINALLY sorted out one of my own. I have had both hotmail and eBay hacked (i hope not as a result of your other thread), and more worringly used, everyday, by somebody. I have found his email address, by looking in the "Sent" folder (he said redirect mail to there) and eBay has kidly given the ip address of him/her. Amusingly he has claimed (on eBay) to a seller, who was asking for feedback (he is not english, by the look of his messages, and mistook the seller, to be asking for unpaid debts), that his paypal account has been stolen, LMAO, Thankfully (no, really thanks whoever designed this system) my password for hotmail and paypal were different, as…

No matter what I do, Google won't list any of my web sites under the keywords that I want. Why isn't their spider reading the keywords in my META tags? I have good keywords and have been linked to from other web sites. Yet, Google just won't list them. I keep submitting my web sites to the search engines. I've been on top at MSN, Yahoo, Alexa, and all the other major search engines. Yet, I can't ever get listed on Google. I don't understand why so many people use Google because their spider has obviously been stepped on too many times!

A system developed by Parco Wireless (http://www.parcowireless.com/) was installed at the Washington Hospital Center (WHC) (http://www.imedi.org/docs/references/mr.htm). UWB RFID active tags can be wore by patients, medical staff and robots. The credit card-size tags information can be read at a frequency of up to 30 times a second. Tracking is achieved based on dynamic calculations between x and y coordinates of a tag located on the human and x and y coordinates of a tag placed on the robot. In order to accompany a person, the robot should estimate the next position of the person in order to move without any delay. The robot calculates the distance and angle required…

How do you pass a multidimensional array to a function in c++ and old-fashioned c? I assumed it would be the same as a 1-dimensional array doing the function prototype for example: int function (char []); and the function header as int function (char array []) but I get an 'need explicit cast' error from the compiler. I have done searches and looked on cprogramming.com, but have found nothing.

I have noticed some web sites that act very strange when you access them. Two examples I have found are: http://www.stormpages.com/tacy/Tacy.html http://www.myjavaserver.com/~rong889 After these pages load the content, my computer will continue to send and receive data. Are these sites downloading something on my computer? I'm also confused about the purpose of the first site. There isn't any content except for a message that says, "Welcome". However, somebody is spending time advertising it. What is the purpose of that site?
