As you can see here: http://strongvpn.com/logkeeping.shtml It does not say that they log the IP, I've contacted them and they confirmed that nobody would be able to trace the IP back, and they even said they do not provide details to third parties. Though, they did not want to say for how long they keep the information they do log logged in the database. I'm wondering is this even possible legally? Wouldn't they HAVE to provided the IP or something similar in court cases? Any ideas?

So I took on the task of writing a paper about the history behind modern computer science and computing. My question to you all is what kind of fun facts or knowledge can you all share that i may add in my paper. I really want to have some cool info because I'm trying to make the paper appeal to those who don't really know much about computer science. If at all possible can you share what sources your getting your information from and if its just your prior knowledge then i will just site you , in which case some kind of name that i could use to site would be helpful.

  12. I am writing a survey with the title "Constraint Processing in Automated Planning". The current version is quite simple: (i) it introduces planning problems, constraint satisfaction probems, and (ii) briefly describes three cases where constraint satisfaction problems are used to solve planning problems. I was asked by my supervisor to improve it, and I need your help on this (see below), because admittedly, I am not an expert in neither constraint processing or planning & scheduling. To improve it along the lines of his suggestions, I might even have to rewrite it from scratch and only keep a few things. In other words, there is no such thing as a too radical sug…

Ok, I was stupid. I won't not write down my serial numbers upon buying electronics again. Now that that's out of the way, any help? Last night both of my computers were stolen. While I did not write down the serial numbers, I did, however, register both of them. Is there any way to use the fact that I registered them to recover the serial numbers? One is a Macbook Pro and the other is an Acer.

  18. Hello forum readers. I would like to request any literature you got about the following subjects: 1) Internet Protocols used to send and recieve packets 2) Sending, recieving and capturing packets (practically and theoretically) 3) Analyzing and reverse engineering packets via wireshark. 4) Using information learned from packets in order to establish a picture about a certain mechanism on the web 5) Working with wireshark (all general data such as filtering and more) 6) Understanding the complete structure of a packet Thanks in advance! Would really appriciate your generous comments since I'm a newbie in the subject.

it seems to me with new threats of hacking from almost every angle aimed at every conceivable weak point, wouldn't it be simpler to remove our most sensitive information from servers connected to the internet? wouldn't it be simpler to remove our infrastructure controls from CPU's connected to the web? i understand the convenience of having these systems networked, but wouldn't it profit us to use only local networks for systems that are subject to remote control? i also understand that im not the first guy to come up with this idea. does anybody have any idea as to what degree in what areas this idea has already been implemented (im hoping , that most of ou…

  20. Hi: Has anyone read news similar to this?: http://www.guardian.co.uk/science/blog/2009/jul/24/bacteria-computer As a lover of bacteria, I'd like a PC whose circuits are made of them. When can I expect such a PC to enter the commercial market -- if it ever does? Is it practical to make an OPL3 FM synthesizer chip out of bioengineered bacteria? OPL3 is my favorite MIDI synthesizer. Thanks, Green Xenon

Hi, I would like to know how do I make a screenshot as a dummy file and merge it with a video file so as to make it difficult for a computer novice to copy the video file. I hear you merge a dummy file with your video file (mpeg, avi, etc...) so that your entire file is just about 85 min long and then you overburn the entire file with Nero, for example. I would like to know how to create the screenshot, then merge just so it makes my 60min video file 85min long.

Excuse the obscure title...I just couldn't think of what to call it. Anyways, In quantum computers you can have 1, 0 and 1 & 0. This means less calculations are needed speeding stuff up. Why can't a third character be programmed in that has a value of both 1 and 0. Hence you won't need the expensive and technically quantum stuff. I used 2 as an example. You could have an entirely new character or a -1 or even a letter. Depends on what the programmer who does it first decides. Opinions on my idea? Would it work? Perhaps it won't be as fast a real quantum computer but if I am not typing total nonsense it could speed up computers by making them require …

I've been looking at the new Gnome and KDE distributions and I'm comparing them to that of Windows and noticing the resemblence of the three. Which do you think will come out on top in the future, and why? The new gnome is featured in RedHat Linux 8.0, and you can see the Bluecurve theme in action. Click the link (requires flash)here --- and look at the new KDE here :worship:
