Is there a standard null value that can be assigned to an attribute in CSS? I want {a} definitions without setting bgcolor, but simply failing to specify the bgcolor attribute is invalid.

This thought came across my head recently. All of the processor vendors are starting to show off their 64-Bit CPU's for home & business use. My question is, does anyone know if the original x86 compilers will compile efficient code on the new 64-Bit processor? Most claim to be native to x86 as well as their new instruction set, but some (Itanium & Itanium2) claim to simply "emulate" the 32-bit enviroment, which would mean that just about all compilers will produce inefficient, crappy code on them. If Intel plans on dominating the server market, and the servers are running older x86-oriented software (Apache, Linux, etc), then will the processor even add po…

I'm running 3DS Max 5 and Maya 5, and I'm curious to know if home dual processor systems are really worth the extra cash. I'd heard they only increase rendering speed by a small amount and it's cheaper - at home - to just buy a better processor. Anybody had experience with this?

BASIC, now known for it's simplicity, was written in 1964 at Dartmouth College by John G. Kemeney and Thomas E. Kurtz. BASIC is an acronym for Beginners All-puprose Symbolic Instruction Code. BASIC was originally meant to be a "stepping stone" for other languages such as FORTRAN (created from 1954-1957) and ALGOL (ALGOrithmic Language, created in the late 1950s). The first BASIC considered to be a full language implemented on a microprocessor was Li Chen Wang's "Tiny Basic", which appeared in Dr. Dobbs. BASIC was the first product sold by the Microsoft corporation, and also the first major case of software piracy. It was copied widely even before Microsoft m…

Computers have rapidly become part of our everyday lives. In less than half a century, countless human operations have been replaced with computers who can do it faster and more efficiently, and don't ask for wages. So when does a computer become alive? If you think about it, computers do most things humans do. They can understand language, they can read, they can see, they can communicate, they can beat you in chess and plan your trip. They can regulate their resources as to run most efficiently, they require energy from an outside source. They can tell you when something is wrong with them, and sometimes even tell you what is wrong. So when is it living? S…

For school I had to do a report on the Anti-Trust lawsuit thats still going on. And when I was looking up inormation about it. I came to some on Bill Gates life. Now, Bill Gates wasnt lucky. And yes he is a normal man. I don't care what you say. Gates wasn't lucky. He simply marketed the right thing at the right time. Don't be jealous cause he has more money then you. He took an idea, and had a good marketing pitch. He started off programing small stuff for companies then created microsoft. And launced his first OS from there. He's not lucky, he knew what he was doing. Calling Bill Gates lucky is just showing your ignorant. Calling him anything else, is aOk.

Gee, I need an answer here from someone who knows. I have a standard ATX PC power supply 240v - approx 300watts. What I have done is made all the +5v +12v adapters that power the motherboard and drives etc into dual adapters so I have two of each. Now what I am trying to do is hook up 2 pc's with one power supply. What are the issues with doing this. Will it work or will it blow up or overload or not be able to fuel the load?

A while ago my friend sent me a link to what was known as the boobies script. It was a picture of a topless girl holding a piece of paper that said "I love" and then text the user submitted himself. The writing looked as if it was a real picture, and it was quite popular. I havent been able to find any working ones on the web, but I did find a site that explains how to set one up (none are available because it became so popular that it used too much bandwidth). The site that explains how to do it is: http://www.xs4all.nl/~slagers/boobies/ I want to set it up on my site, but the directions on this site are minimal. Check out the site, and if you are knowledgeable …

Here is what I have set up: When I login with ws_ftp i go to the main folder it has the folders .session logs web in web, i have my index.html, etc. so i made two folders in there. guestbook - which has all the guestbook files and cgi-bin - i just stuck my guestbook.pl in there in the guestbook folder, i have my main guestbook file, that includes the line ...action="../cgi-bin/guestbook.pl" method="POST" which should take it to the guestbook.pl, r…

Well it all started back around the time I attempted to install a TV Wonder VE TV capture card. 14 hours of work on it later, I bailed out. But the damage was done. My computer started getting blue screen errors. Soon, this progressed to IRQ conflicts on my main board. Various devices would randomly conflict. First, it was just the hard drives and disc drives. Then, it was the IDE cards. Randomly rearranging these would solve the conflict. Then, things got worse. IRQ conflicts were caused by the mouse and ethernet. Then the memory. Then last night the CPU went. Replaced it today and everything seems to be normal, but the next 48 hours will tell the tale.
