I'm having a difficult time understanding LC-3 instructions and registers. Can someone help me with these few problems, maybe explain them step by step. Thanks! 1) What is the difference between the following LC-3 instructions A and B? How are they similar and how are they different? A: 0000111101010101 B: 0100111101010101 2) The LC-3 does not have an opcode for the logical function OR. That is, there is no instruction in the LC-3 ISA that performs the OR operation. However, we can write a sequence of instructions to implement the OR operation. THe four instruction sequence below performs the OR of the contents of register 1 and register 2 and puts…

Lately I have had a very mysterious windows problem. I run Windows XP. The thing is, I noticed some Mail Delivery Subsistem messages saying that my messages could not be delivered. I never sent the messages, so I ran a check with Ad-Aware 6. It stopped right at System 32 and was not responding. I hit Ctr Alt Delete, but that opened up a screwed up window (tell me how to attach the picture I took of it!!!! It says it exceeds my quota) which only showed the processes, not the running programs. I couldn't close it, so I had to shut down the computer. I now was very suspicious. I did a check with Spybot- Search and Destroy, but that didn't work either, since it stopped in t…

i've been out of touch in programming for a little while now, but, my question is: do people still program in Pascal? there has been a thread or 2 recently implying that in HS they still teach Basic as a programming language to start with, but how about more complex languages such as Pascal? since Pascal is stuctured more like C or Perl, then if learning Basic just to get the basic idea, then moving on to Pascale and then a transition to C or C++ will be much easier then in going from the Basic(very archaic imo language) to C.

  5. I have posted same kind of question in my thread about windows and mac, but it somhow is deleted by the moderator.......maybe the thread is too long? Any way, my question is, since Mac has a OS of a kernel of Unix, Can I run OS like Linspire on it? since it is a typical linux OS which operates Windows softwares...... If not so, then for personal many wondering,,, why Mac dont make a computer which is compatible to Windows softwares? or why dont IBM/Motorola make the CPU that will run on windows? It is just like there is no two advantages for one good... if I can install linspire on Mac and it runs on Windows software, I mostly will consider my n…

I also have tried to turn the software running under Windows 95 by right clicking the software's icon-> compability....but that still not help! Is it a problem on the setting of "display" in control panel? or DirectX? because this is the problem on most of most of my games occuring in Windows 95 6 years ago.... Any help? Albert

What is holding up the ability to program an interactive buddy for at least a child? There are billions riding on it since a Teddy bear that can interact with a kid is the ultimate future. Not Teddy Ruxpin but a program with Trust and truth as the ideal, I doubt that will happen and am ashamed beforehand for our human abuses coming in the future. I want an AI buddy myself but I'm a little complicated. For a kid though just programmed audio security and interest would be a plus. It migh even knock down the disfunctionals a few percentages. I'm willing to contribute if somebody is actually building something. Is there any research in this area? Just more than curi…

I'm doing some theoretical work (as an alternative to doing yet more revision) on model rocketry again, and I'm wondering about the effect of rapid acceleration on computer hardware. What I'm currently thinking is that the only (?) things are likely to be affected are things with lots of moving parts. Obviously mounting a hard drive in there is completely out of the question. At the moment I'm considering mounting some kind of mini ITX motherboard into the rocket chassis, then using some kind of usb flash device to boot linux (my os of choice) from. (If anyone cares, I'm doing this as a challenge to maybe get some kind of flight management system on board a rock…

I am currently using Windows Xp,,,, Although I feel Xp is quite stable and graphical interface is better than Me.. but I still feel that Windows has too many problems occuring...... As you can see in my previous threads about "Search Assistant" and "IE" things...... Would Macintosh be more reliable and stable? Or probably Windows 2003 would be much better than Xp, because it is, at least, the latest version of Windows I know....... Any suggestion? Albert

I'm reading Code, a book by charles petzold , that many of you have probably heard of. I'm about half way through the chapter about automaters. While i understand most of it , theres a few questions i have that would be best answered if i could somehow wire up a couple things myself or buy some of the chips and stuff and put them together. Or if i could do in it a simulated environment like a comp program or a workbook something like that. Anyone know what i could get? If someone thinks they know alot about this sort of stuff i could ask you a few questions directly but it'd be hard to explain unless you could look at the diagram or already know what's there. Anyway than…

I need to get a lockable case, one in which i can lock it so no one can nick my chip and which which has one of those cables that you can wrap around a table leg so no one can walk off with the case either. I'd like one that is good for o/c and has a fan in the side as well. (would a fan in the side make it unsercure?) Any recommendations.
