Hi, I'm a newb to the PHPNuke and general PHP world, so I've a few questions about how to accomplish the following: I'm planning on making a science site, by creating the modules for Biochem, Genetics, Immunology etc. etc. Now, when I go and create the modules, I wanted so that it displays only the news that are labeled with their respective categories, (Immunology module would display only news that are categorized as immunology and not others) Anyone might be kind enough to tell me how I might go about doing this? My AIM is windig0zz if anyone wants to contact me.

Although, the second (first one there) doesnt boot up anymore. I think the partition got deleted but something was left behind or something that causes it to stil appear on the OS choice menu. Anyway, i need some kind of partition software to delete this partition. I dont think there is much data on this second partition. If anyone knows of any freewarem or something, please tell me.

I have written a php/html script that will (maybe) allow you to bypass internet censorship at work, school, library, etc. I do not know if if works or not but bassicly it oppens the site in a frame at my site. However, I just realized that censorship programs might be able to track the URL of where the frame is at? So I'm working on something new that will completely send a site through mine w/o a frame but I cannot make images and apps show up on the page; jsut the raw html of a requested page. Another problem is that links would have to go through framed.php and I do not want the url tagging the end of it. This ultimately results in two diferent methods to…

If you look at the bottom of this page, you should see a copyright notice. I put it there just to link to some legal information (hosting off my current ISP is iffy) but it's still there. Because of a legislation contained in H.R. 5211, you, right now, have an unauthorized copy of my copyright material and therefore it is open for me to attack your computer. Most browsers make “cache” of pages viewed by the user to speed up the time it takes to load a webpage. However, sense 2002, this is now an illegal and unauthorized practice. With your IP address, I could send a note to the Department of Justice, and in a week, I would have a legal right to attack your system acr…

What exactly is the purpose of video/graphics cards in computers? The digital data for a picture is generated in the computer, and it isn't translated into an actual picture until it reaches your monitor. Does the graphics card simply act as extra processing and memory for the image, so the CPU and RAM can focus on the rest of the program? Wouldn't the CPU still have to process the image, to separate it from the rest of the code in the program? Why doesn't it just send the image to the monitor, instead of the graphics card?

Hey, my mobo just fried and I will not be getting a new desktop PC. My next comp will be a laptop. So, I am left with a bunch of parts that I am selling partly because I am a poor white boy who needs laser parts . Ok, what I have in stock right now is. AMD Athlon motherboard, works fine. I am just not bothering to hook it up and use it. Too slow. 15-20 bucks (american) 6 sticks of PC-100 memory. I think all are 128 meg, though I think two maybe 32 meg. (free, just pay shipping) 1 40 gig hard drive, 30 bucks. It's a Seagate, so it's pretty good. 1 5 gig HD, great for a slave drive. Also a Seagate. A couple ethernet cards, 5 bucks each. A CD-bur…

Ok, I have looked around and can't really find a good, easy way to do this. I have about 100 or so files on my web server that I would like to link to, and rather then going in and putting <a href="/fictionall/file1.txt">File1.txt</a> <a href="/fictionall/file2.txt">File2.txt</a> <a href="/fictionall/file3.txt">File3.txt</a> Is there a PHP script that can read the files in a given directory and put the <a href=""></a> stuff in with regex?

What language should I learn if I want to create a 2D platform game very similar to Donkey Kong Country? It needs to have a few layers of images and sprites and thats about all that is required graphically. I know JavaScript and Visual Basic so I am after a language that shouldnt be too much of a transition from these. Any suggestions?

Ten years ago Virtual reality was the next big thing in computing. Now, it's nowhere to be seen. What happened? Is VR coming, is there any progress being made or was it all just a fantasy? Any experts out there?

I have a question on Quantum Encryption. I've been doing a lot of research lately on it and the vendors claim that it is an unbreakable code for key distribution. The basics are that if Alice sends Bob a photon, Bob measures the polarization of that photon which translates into binary. Bob uses a filter to do this. If Bob guesses the right filter to measure the polarization of the photon then in a public conversation Alice will tell Bob that he used the right filter and that photon is translated into a bit. My question is what if Eve uses the same filters as Bob every time a photon was sent? Could she be able to get the key without either Alice or Bob knowi…

I have been programming in Java for a while, but I can't clarify between Hiding and Overriding, which I thought they are basically meaning the same, ie, change the method implementation. But in fact, no. However, the only difference I can clarify is the term "Hiding" is used for static method, and "Overriding" is used for instance method. Is that it?? if not? can any one demonstrate an example that distinctly explain the difference between these two?? thanks

The computer I am using right now has network problems. Me and my friends used to hook the xbox into our RJ45 jack on the back to play xbconnect. I also used to connect to my modem via ethernet. Then one day my ethernet didnt work anymore. I was suprised to find that it wasnt a card in my computer, but i think it is integrated. This is a bummer, i wanted to just take it out and place it in another slot to try to fix the problem. Now i connect to my modem via USB 2.0, which isnt as fast as ethernet for networking. I am getting a laptop soon and im going to need that ethernet. All the lights on the RJ45 work, and when i plug into a network, they pick it up. But it st…

Hey guys, I am planning on moving away from Ubuntu pretty soon. I am leaning towards Yoper as it boasts it was made specifically for i686's and that can't hurt . But, if the timing is right and I don't switch until about the time Longhorn comes out, I might go out, buy it, and test it out. I don't play alot of games, though I do go to a LAN about every 1-2 weeks to have some fun, but that's about it. I would like some input from you guys on what operating system has been best for you. I do alot of programming in C and I host my own site on my comp. That's about all I do. I would prefer to stay with Linux, but if you have another suggestion, it would be greatly …
