Hi everybody, We all know that we can have random numbers by pressing #RAN or #RND button in calculators and there is such a command in computer programming languages that produces a random number. It's always been a question for me that how does a computer or a calc generate random numbers? Does it have a certain algorithm or sth?

The reasons we have the particular layout we have today are out-dated and irrelevant for today's use on computers, as the original design was modeled for use on a keyboard. would it be effiecient or beneficial to change the standard QWERTY keyboard layout?

  3. I want to clarify my simple understanding about the role of ALU. There are two components; 1- Arithmatic Unit. 2- Logic Unit. The role of arithmatic unit is simply to do arithmatic operations on numbers. These numbers come from written program instructions. The role of Logic Unit is to derive logical conclusion. It performs comparisons to decide about equal, greater or less values etc. The thing I want to clarify is that logic unit derives logical conclusions. Just like in ordinary deductive logic, there are two premises and the conclusion is drawn from the information contained in premises. My question is that is computer also derive deductive conclu…

Will the Semantic Web ever be successful? For those who don't know, the Semantic Web, pioneered by Tim Berners-Lee himself, is an attempt to move the web from a loosely structured collection of documents to a type of machine-understandable knowledge structures called ontologies. To put it simply, the Semantic Web tries to add meaning to the link structure of the web. It's like what the Xanadu project was trying to do way back in 1960, although they were waaay ahead of their time, and some worry the Semantic Web might be too. So far, no one has managed to make a "killer app" for the Semantic Web's underlying technologies, but this may be in the pipe in the form of Sema…

Okay, not really, but this is sure a big step forward in intelligence research: http://numenta.com/ Numenta, a startup company founded by On Intelligence author and Redwood Neuroscience Founder Jeff Hawkins has released both binaries and source code for their general intelligence algorithm, known as Hierarchical Temporal Memory. This software is based on the behavior of hierarchical networks of neocortical columns in the brain, which Hawkins theorizes provide the foundational components of human consciousness.

  8. The solution to this problem is not very hard : you just use a combination of two kinds of technique You use a combination of search and non search , the idea is to limit the search to a managable level, a clever technique of limiting the search by using a convex hull is applied, and you do partition the search space in to a set of layered convex hulls where the computation to find the optimisation is done one step at a time, please see my algorithm description : or just type NEW ALGORITHM FOR THE TSP in youtube search

  11. Many renowned scientists believe this event is all but inevitable and that the consequences of it are so far reaching that it will change our World profoundly. We will be living in the post human era if we manage to survive at all. Others argue it will go a very long ways in solving mankind`s most difficult problems and may even lead to human immortality. This event is predicted by many to occur within 5 to 30 years. Many of these scientists I am refering to are some of the most res…

Okay guys, I need some help. I know some C++, about enough to fit in one semester. When I took the course we covered a little bit passed arrays. Anyway, I never really understood how to make an actual application. We would write some code maybe about 300 lines at times, and we would run the code or some of you might call it "debug" and this is where the command prompt would pop up -- usually it would ask me to input some values to calculate whatever my code was intended to do. However, I never really learned how to make an application where you can actually interact with and do other things. What I mean by that is for example all the applications that you find in your mob…
