  2. Hello, for the last year I've felt that my mental functioning has been slowing down and is not quite what it used to be. I'm only 25 and I notice that simple questions will take me longer to answer and I have quite a bit of mental strain. I know this is partly due to habits and negative self-talk.   4. Hi - I am just learning genetics, as my lab will be incorporating genetic analysis into future work. I have a decent understanding of basic topics (meiosis, mutations, simple epigenetics), but I have of trouble visualizing the concepts underlying genomic analysis.     I am a redhead/ginger. Now don't get me wrong, i love it but i would love to know what made my hair orange/red. I find the topic quite interesting but i do not have much experience on the subject. My own theory is that its a genetic mistake, which can either be created when the parents' DNA combines because of two certain genes, which by result creates the MC1R gene and that the MC1R gene could be inherited, but hiding for multiple generations.     I have had a hard time Googling to find out some specifics about the Out of Africa migration theories - here are the questions I have not been able to determine - and maybe they are not determinable right now - I understand that possibility.   10. Scientists are genetically modifying trees to produce more terpenes. Could one genetically alter trees to produce more hygroscopic terpenes. I note that cellulose is hygroscopic and so is glycerin. Could one get a tree to produce volatile hygroscopic terpenes or other substances?     Hi everyone! I really just joined to ask this question. I would've googled this info but I'm not sure how to word it properly. I'm aware that when a male child is created, they receive an X from the mother and a Y from the father. Because the mother has a double XX - one from her mother and one from her father - I want to know which of those X chromosome the male child would get? Would it be a copy of the X from the maternal grandfather or grandmother? Or it would it be some combination of both? Since the male child can only receive one X from the mother, I'm assuming it has to be one or the other.

  16. I have been learning genetics for a year now. Recently, I have discovered a species as called above, which as some articles said is quite unique for its ability to evolve to withstand incredibly harsh conditions, despite reproducing asexually. I, personally, do not find this interesting as bacteria, reproducing asexually by binary fission,still evolve well with material mainly from mutations. The case in point here is the antibiotics resistance. Can sbd illuminate what is special about this animal,they are not the only one who evolves with asexual reproduction, right?

  23. The topic title says it all. How does the machinery of the cell distinguish between the template and coding strands of the DNA double helix? If it transcribed the coding strand, instead of the template strand, the resulting protein would be wrong.
