If looking at the body weight:brain weight ratio, the hippopotamus is not looking too smart while talking about the intelligence of mammals.

Does trashing the environment to a point where you risk wiping out your entire species count as evidence of low intelligence?

If so, then I think I may know a good candidate for dumbest species.

I don't think that social insects should be included in the list. Social insects such as bees and ants exhibit a collective intelligence as an emergent property of the entire nest.

The problem here is that the emergent quality of the hive intelligence is often dependant on stigmergy.
