FIFA, World Cup, Trump and corruption (split from MAGA - Make Algae Green Again)

I think the games would be much Improved if they cracked down on the amount of clutching and grabbing that goes on. I find it hard to believe that teams haven't switched to skin-tight shirts since so much goes on.

Oh, yeah Why is there even an "offsides" rule?

Without it, the last line of defence would not be able to advance upfield in support of an attack for fear of giving away an easy goal from a long ball over their helds. Attacks would be blunted, leading to fewer goals overall.

For some reason a 'goal hanger', in the past, was considered a cheat. I think the modern game would benefit from the threat, perchance a more honest game where the team's try to win, rather than trying not to lose.

I don't see how there could be any fewer goals in futbol. It seems to me it would open up the field to allow more space to operate. I could see someone like Mbappe or Haaland scoring hat tricks on a regular basis if allowed to lounge on the offensive side of the field where all they need to do is get to the space ahead of the defender rather than being required to give them a head start.

You're clearly not familiar with the Arsenal of yore.

If they dished out the yellow cards for grabbing more often, it would knock it in the head soon enough. It was nice to see an Argentinian to get two yellows, leading to red, for such arseholery.

There should be no offsides once the ball is as deep as the penalty area box line that’s parallel to the end line, or on free kicks in the attacking end. Once the ball leaves that zone you reset (similar to hockey blue line/offsides, AFAIK)

The game is fine if played by the rules, refs aren't biased, FIFA doesn't play favorites, Presidents/Governments don't get involved, and people don't try to change it.
It has become the most popular game in the World for a reason.
