  1. A large fraction of modern phones do not have removable batteries. So removing the battery is not an option.
  2. Yes, the electrolyte degrades releasing a flammable gas... (Lithium ion). That's why they swell.
  3. The batteries are sealed units. If that breaks things go bad. Whilst they are tested against reasonable pressures such as aircraft pressurised cabins a semi decent vacuum chamber can easily surpass that.
  4. Have a look at running ksp in 64 bit mode. Apparently it doesn't by default...
  5. I didn't see this at the time but I must have bought it at about the same time... I did my first Minmus landing two days ago. I have a rover on Mun and have done several landings including a very unfortunate unkerbined lander where the engine just touched the deck causing it to explode. It survives though and is a useful relay for just the other side. The only other thing I currently have going on is a Minmus relay satellite which is stage one for my "step to space" station which will offer refueling before leaving the kerbin system...
  6. I've heard that submerging in IPA works well. As it replaces the water and then evaporates quite quickly.
  7. Yes, I was anticipating a decent power. You would need to consider the full configuration as you may end up with a disproportionate amount of energy in one small area which could cause damage which would then multiply.
  8. Even our most reflective surfaces are not 100%. Someone energy will be absorbed at each reflection. That energy will radiate away from the outside as heat. As the energy increases inside the reflecting material will get hotter and then each reflection will be too much energy to easy dissipate, the mirror will start to burn, once that begins to happen the reflectivity over that area will drop dramatically and the burning will become faster. You'll end up with a destroyed box.
  9. ! Moderator Note As we've had lots of scientists and science enthusiasts respond and to varying degrees ignored by the op I think we're done here. Op, please don't reintroduce this topic. You may appeal this decision by reporting this post.
  10. Identification and making records. Identify when it might be affecting you and take remedial action. Make notes and actually measure and monitor so you can analyse the results.
  11. I acknowledge it is a shared belief in this reality though. I do not claim it is absolute. That is an important acknowledgement in this discussion and one others in this thread refuse to understand. They think because they believe it or is true. Or at least that is the impression they're giving.
  12. You're setting artificial limits. There is no reason other than your belief that both senses couldn't be both complying to the same illusion. Not only is it only your belief but it's observably false as people who have hallucinations it often effects multiple senses. This is incredibly frustrating.
  13. ! Moderator Note Closed for failing to engage with criticism as the speculation rules dictate even after multiple chances. Do not reintroduce this topic.
  14. I experienced totality close to the edge of the zone around the year 2000. I didn't travel. I'm glad I didn't travel. It was a bit weird and I might feel differently about it now I'm older.
  15. Why can't they both be illusions? This is rather foolish.
  16. The trivial counterargument is that the sense of touch is an illusion.
  17. Leaving curtains or blinds closed when the sun is directly on the windows will help a lot. Ventilation is what you need though. A fan will just blow warm air around. You need to replace warm air with cooler, this can come from the outside or air con with an external heat dump.
  18. There's a reason that aluminium emergency blankets exist.
  19. If the mesh has length scales much larger than the wavelength then your reflectivity will greatly reduce. If you have 50% material fraction then you'll reflect of the order 50% (assuming a perfect reflector). Mesh of a similar length scale with have strange effects, such as spoof surface plasmon modes etc... Guessing at your purpose then layers of 30% metal fill fraction to air might work. You'd need to ensure connected air gaps exist. Depending of purpose, the issue you'll have is the material heating from conduction from the skin and just moving the IR source out a bit.
  20. During my physics undergrad we had a list of allowed calculators for exams and needed to get approval for them. Anything capable of storing an equation or solving ODEs would not have been allowed. Check what your college/university says on the matter. Away from exams you have access to computers so things like Wolfram alpha, mathematical, maple, R, MATLAB, octave etc.. etc... Which are far more powerful than any calculator will be.
  21. That sounds rather scary to me. Why would your default position be absolute truth? Your position should be scepticism! I don't think science nor philosophy is for you. Nope. You're either in my imagination or a computer simulation where I'm the only true consciousness. I'm yet to decide which. Please see my previous sentence. Or your existence is being modelled in some way. Nope. See my precision comments in this post. Your English is not the problem.

  23. Again the last two posts by themselves show that your coconut example is not absolute. This is getting old.
