  1. I disagree. Prove me wrong with a direct quote, if you'd like. Earlier, I was primarily referring to the claims of hypocrisy, but what’s super funny is how you did it again right here in the sentence immediately preceding your request for me to find an example. Thanks. I try.
  2. This thought crossed my mind, too. Good call out.
  3. I said our default position should be to assume that the woman is telling the truth in majority of these cases. Also, none of this is about excusing violence during BLM protests while admonishing it during StopTheSteal protests. See the difference? I'm American, remember? I brought a gun to the knife fight.
  4. Reporting suggests Pence is no interested in pursuing the 25th despite his anger at what's happened. I also find it interesting that already 2 members of Trumps cabinet have resigned, likely because they're too afraid to cast a vote if the 25th is employed.
  5. This was already boring last night, but just to clarify in hopes of moving along: * MigL introduced the idea that members here support violence during protests (or look passed it / ignore it) when it's executed by people supporting a cause with which they agree. The implication was one of hypocrisy. I was one of the members implicitly being charged with this * I challenged that. I have a vastly different recollection of these discussions and recall ALL of us saying violence is not okay and that we deplore it. I requested a direct quote or two as evidence to demonstrate what resulted in MigLs alternative understanding in case I was mistaken * You spoke up reinforcing MigLs claim and said something to the effect about humanity being doomed if we on SFN cannot see how hypocritical we are being * I asked you the same thing I asked MigL... Again a plain and simple request for an actual quote or two which led you to this conclusion. My supposition was that you and MigL have misinterpreted the intended meanings of posters here, that you're arguing against caricatures and fictions and frankly strawmen * You flippantly blew me off, I said thanks for confirming you couldn't support your claims with evidence, and now we've repeated this exchange 2 or 3 times... Me: Please share a quote. You: Nah, no thanks. That's fine dude, but again... You're asserting things about the behaviors of members on these forums. You've been challenged on the validity and veracity of your claims. You've been asked to back them up. You have refused now at least 4 times to support your assertion with actual posts despite those entirely reasonable requests. It's too bad too, because this is a text-based medium so it's actually possible and not terribly hard to quote someone in support of our assertions... That is, of course, so long as we're not here to act solely as an insufferable... well... Yes, I do... and I appreciate the very clear reminder of that fact here.
  6. Unlikely... they've shown themselves to be rather spineless these last several years so I wouldn't hold out hope that they're willing to do anything other than lay low and run out the clock these last 2 weeks.
  7. Did you cast personal aspersions and fail to support them with evidence when asked there, too?
  8. Thank you for taking the time to address my request and provide context for your comments. +1 Hopefully the additional context I added to mine was also helpful I would also say nobody was saying violence was a way to change laws and challenge them in court, so we may be talking a bit passed each other on that front.
  9. Thanks for confirming you’re unable or unwilling to support your claim.
  10. Is accurately describing it as a false equivalence the same thing as dismissing it? And still not seeing any quotes...so at this point it remains possible it’s little more than a fiction or caricature in your head.
  11. We must be reading different threads. I recall ALL of us saying that there’s no place for violence but that we support the cause. Again... feel free to actually quote someone. Until then, that which can be asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence. The forces which gave us Trump are getting stronger, not weaker. And yes, there’s a massive difference between asking for our police to stop murdering black people and some small handful of people going too far by breaking a door at the local Target store... and baiting millions of people for months to believe that their votes were stolen from them and getting them to think their freedoms are being pissed upon... lathering them up until they start consistently threatening civil war, talking openly about murdering their neighbors, and just yesterday actively stormed our government capitol (both in DC and local capitol buildings across the states) in an insurrection attempt complete with weapons and bombs.
  12. The quote function is your friend. I dare you to find even one that supports this view. I do hope you’re right, but I’m doubtful. Even if the US magically realizes healthier politics as a result of all this, Trump has put forth a template for other authoritarians around the world to follow. Would’ve been nice if they hadn’t waited to do so until he was already done with his term. This is hardly off-brand with the last 4 years.
  13. We can be civil in our discussion together all while at the same time I choose not to chase down an answer to an irrelevant question. They’re not mutually exclusive.

    It’s concealed
  15. It was acknowledged. I reject your premise. I have no idea, and no plans to try finding out.
  16. The phrase, "missing the point" comes to mind. What is a sequence if there is no time?
  17. Too many people in positions of power and authority have chosen / decided not to. They support him in this. See also: Failure to conduct a trial for him once he got impeached last year. A member of the House has also already drawn up a second set of articles of impeachment, but I doubt anyone on the right will be willing to take the political risk of earning the wrath of Trump voters by doing so when he's to leave office in 2 weeks anyway.
  18. I’m sure they wouldn’t have constructed that noose on the capitol lawn today if only the democrats acted nicer toward them

  20. Trumps own cabinet is right now actively discussing removing him from office under the powers granted by the 25th amendment. No options have yet been presented to VP Pence
  21. Imagine if they were black. This only has continued as long as it has bc they’re white
  22. Depends on the issue being voted upon. As Charon mentioned, this is more about removing Mitch McConnells ability to singlehandedly block legislation even when it’s supported by both sides and the president.
  23. It helped that he was like one of two total newscasters speaking. Today, any fool with a phone can be a "newscaster." The cycle here is consistent in terms of belief there's been voter fraud. I mentioned the term "astroturfing" above. They claim there's fraud despite any obvious evidence. They then keep repeating those claims and work in a systematic fashion to spread them through influencer channels and social media. They manufacture the concerns, then use the approach, "there's a lot of distrust in the election results out there so we need to be responsible and follow-up... investigate it more." Never mind that they were the ones who created the distrust. Lather, rinse, repeat. Throughout much of Trump's presidency, he and his allies have been arsonists who set the fire then go in to talk about how dangerous the fires are and attempt to take credit for putting it out... never mind that there would never have been a fire in the first place had they not arrived with matches and gasoline and bullhorns shouting about the danger of fires. Swarm of bees strategy, too
