  1. I was hoping to see how it coped with a sharp edge like a cliff or even a high curb. Still, very fascinating. I wonder how much bigger / smaller it will get eventually.
  2. That would SO ROCK!!! Thanks for offering, when will it be ready?

No problem there then. I hope it was answered to your satisfaction.

Is this more homework? We certainly don't mind helping but just giving you answers isn't really help.
  5. Question #1: Do you consider it "corrupt" to spend time and money for research, development, production and distribution of drugs which allow the user to live with the effects of a disease (thus insuring your future market base), rather than researching a *cure* for those diseases? Question #2: Do you think that the pharmaceutical industry has led us to believe they are working just as diligently on actual cures as on symptom suppressors?
  6. I'm currently out of non-fiction. Gotta fix that. Between my county library, other state libraries and used book stores, I'm trying to piece together the Recluce series by L.E. Modesitt Jr. There's so little time for reading right now! *sob* Tyrion has to be one of the most complex characters in modern fantasy fiction. Four books and I'm still not sure whether he'll be the hero or the villain. Really keeps you on the edge, doesn't it? I keep picturing this as a cable series, perhaps by HBO. Of course I would then have to actually subscribe to HBO.... So pissed off about this series. I loved the conventions Jordan first came up with, but every book started adding more and more characters I was supposed to care about. At first I thought he'd start killing some of them off, but now I think he just wants to make a thirteen book series, since that number is so important to him. He'll probably start killing them all off when Tarmon Gaidon starts, and then we'll just be numb to it. I hate when writers write with anything other than the story in mind. Trying to fill up pages is intellectually dishonest. I stopped watching Saturday Night Live a long time ago when their writing paradigm went from "funny no matter how long or short it is" to "start with something funny and make it fit into five minutes". That's no way to write.
  7. How about a birthday in a different month? That'd be nice. I mean, I was going to get you some X-box games and a PDA but I'll be tapped from Christmas. Sorry dude.

    Kiwi!

WOW! Dreams are hard work but obviously worth it. Good find, bascule!
  9. ghostunitt, I have moved your thread to the proper forum, where people will know you need help and not answers. Please share this idea, it will help our members see how far along you are and how best to help. Posting here in Homework Help will make the hecklers go away as well.
  10. Nah, guns are for wussies. When I want people dead I start clipping my toenails. Works better than flechette rounds. The hedge shears are kinda bulky tho.
  11. Sorry you had to learn the hard way, but at least you didn't learn the hardest way. [wimp] Constantly driving around like your on a race track when there's other not-so-skilled drivers around is like carrying a loaded gun in your hand with the safety off, waiving it at the crowd and claiming you know what you're doing. [/wimp ]
  12. Discussions about religion can become intense enough to cause hemorrhaging in the unprepared. Visit the new forum at your own risk!
  13. After a number of years personally boycotting Blockbuster for some perceived slight, I recently decided to give them another chance (read as, "They forced my favorite indy store out of business"). They have a deal where you get a free movie from the middle of the store each time you rent something new from the outer wall. The middle has some absolutely fantastic choices. Everything Sisyphus mentioned is there plus a whole lot more, all for free if you rent something new. I'm a reader as well and the only TV the wife and I watch is rented movies.[/end shameless plug]
  14. If you want to talk about meteors, go to Astronomy and Cosmology.
  15. What if the Dems found the Rep's Diebold hacker and simply paid him more? How could the Reps complain? Electronics are evil until we figure a way to get evil on *our* side.
  16. Considering in most movies you know the bad guy is going to get it in the end, it's always nice when you don't see it coming, or at least the method. What was the movie where the hero and the bad guy are in a plane at an open hatchway and the bad guy looked like he was going to get away with it when suddenly the hero reaches out and yanks on the bad guy's parachute ripcord? Chute opens outside the plane, Baddie gets sucked into the jet engine and it's over so quick it almost takes your breath away. Am I remembering that right? Anyone remember the name of the movie?
  17. Butch and Sundance going out in a blaze of glory and smokin' six-guns is a classic. Another oldy is Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty getting slo-mo shot to pieces by Thompson sub-machine guns in Bonnie and Clyde. Almost like sex. Really graphic for the sixties. For modern movies I'd vote the double-deaths of the Spaniard and the Emperor in Gladiator. Satisfaction and poignancy at the same time. And you gotta love the way Steve Buscemi gets it from his partner (forgot the actor's name) in Fargo. Psycho killers + paranoia + axe + wood-chipper = great death scene.
  18. Temperature is not the only factor involved in glass breaking. You would need to be much more specific to get a meaningful answer.
  19. Currently we have the Ecology and the Environment subforum. If enough threads in there lean towards Environmental Sciences then we'll need to peel them off into their own subforum. Until then it might get lonley rattling around by itself.
  20. Some of those tattoos were *done* in prison where inmates might be looking to pass the time any way they can. I think it's also a way to compensate for lack of plumage and other male finery many species in the animal kingdom use to strut their stuff. Human males tend to take the opposite view of vivid colors in clothing and hair that distinguishes the males in other species, at least in modern times. I don't think it is any different than other "possessions". I've heard people talking about their tats like any other commodity, how they anticipated getting their latest one and then how and where they want the next one to be. I'm personally not very big on permanent self-adornment but I don't think it shows a pathological tendency towards criminality either. It's feathers for those who think feathers are gay.
  21. Tell that to the news networks who pay big $$$ to have them done so they can predict winners early, risking their reputations by relying on the poll's accuracy. Done well, exit polls are the next best thing to tabulated official results.
  22. Did you notice a pungent smell? Because I smell homework. We can 't do it for you, bud.
  23. SFN's very own Gilded wanted to have sex with a girl at work but she had a boyfriend. She kept turning him down. One day Gilded got so frustrated that he went up to her and said, "I'll give you a US$100 if you let me have sex with you." The girl said "Absolutely NOT!" Gilded said, "I'll promise to be really fast. I'll throw the money on the floor, you bend down, and I'll be finished by the time you pick it up." She thought for a moment and said that she would have to ask her boyfriend. She called him and told him the story. Her boyfriend said, "Ask him for $200, pick up the money really fast and he won't even be able to get his pants down. Call me back when you have the cash and we'll go party". The girl goes back to Gilded and agrees at double the price. After fifteen minutes the boyfriend calls the girl but gets no answer. Half an hour goes by and the boyfriend is still calling. Finally, after an hour, the boyfriend gets through and asks what happened. The girl is out of breath but manages to gasp, "The bastard used quarters!" :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D:D :D
